Vromans Talk Part of Author's Journey
Thank you to everyone who attended the talk on Sat Oct. 26 @ Vromans Bookstore in Pasadena! I was told by the organizer that it was one of the most well-attended and interesting local author talks they've had (considering best-selling author Elizabeth Gilbert was just there signing the week before, I was delighted to hear this although I can only dream that some day I will have her wide readership).
My talk was about journeys - of writing the book, of immigration as a child and travels as a young adult, and journeys of the emotional and spiritual kind. The personal journey is the most important in a writer's life, and Strum, like the story, is imbued with the spirits of my ancestors and the people and places I have known.
It was wonderful for the author (me!) to meet so many new readers and old friends from my hometown! It was especially meaningful since I worked at this bookstore in the early 80's when Vromans was a one room neighborhood bookshop and Old Town Pasadena was still "old."
Well, the tables are now turned - I'm getting older and Pasadena seems to be getting younger! But Vromans is still the best bookstore in Southern California by far!
Please stay tuned for my next event on this long and winding road! And in the meanwhile, I hope you enjoy the book!
Namaste.
