THE TRIBES OF FERALIS - EXCITING NEWS!

The first book in our new fantasy series, The Tribes of Feralis, is being released on 12th September!!

It has been a long time coming and apologies to those who have been wondering when we would ever release another book and whether Victoria and I were even still writing! You will be pleased to know we have finished writing all three books of our trilogy.

We were lucky enough to secure the interest of a publisher, Odyssey Books! You can read more about them here: https://www.odysseybooks.com.au/about/

So, some of the more recent delay has been due to liaising with them, getting the first book professionally edited, etc.

If you would like to review the book on Netgalley, please Click here: https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/boo...

If you want to preorder the book, it is available on Amazon HERE -https://www.amazon.co.uk/Deadly-Recko...

Here is a short blurb for Book One, The Deadly Reckonings:
“Your fate is your own...until it rises up to bite you.”

The tribes are no longer at war, but is Feralis really at peace?

The Deadly Reckonings have arrived. Can Devlin survive the test, claim the status of Alpha, and create a better world, not only for those he loves but for all the tribes?

If you like marvellous worlds, daring heroes, fierce heroines, edge-of-your-seat adventure, a touch of heartbreaking romance, and enough twists and turns to leave you wondering what on earth (or not on earth...on Feralis!) just happened, this is the series for you.

Thank you to anyone who has already been a beta reader and who has given us invaluable feedback!

REVIEW OF THE RUBY LOCKET BY MELISSA WRAY

THE RUBY LOCKET BY MELISSA WRAY 3 out of 5 stars
I really liked the opening of this book, where the two brothers find a girl in the “wasteland” who initially appears to be dead. It did take me a little time to feel completely gripped by the story and I did feel the plot lacked momentum in the beginning. I also never felt invested in the love story between Saxon and Kerina; it was very much a slow burn. I would have liked the worldbuilding to have been a little bit more complex and inventive. I didn’t have a clear picture in my mind of what the world, its people and culture really looked like on a wider and more detailed scale and I would have liked to know more about the “Burn,” that destroyed the world before, and what actually caused it. I am afraid I am not a huge fan of books that switch POV from chapter to chapter and the eponymous ruby locket, and its “message,” was not as remarkable as I expected it to be. (SPOILERS HERE) I found it a bit unbelievable that Kerina would happen to have a connection with Saxon’s parents and I was waiting for another twist at the end but they had correctly guessed their adversary. Having said all this, I did like reading it and particularly enjoyed the latter third when the action kicked in. The dialogue was written well and I liked the snarky character of Vera and would have liked to see more of her. I also liked the idea of an oppressed people with additional abilities (though I would have liked those abilities to be more exciting and have more of an impact in the story) - this reminded me of the TV series “The Boys” and the superheroes with manufactured powers. Overall, I wasn’t blown away with this book but it was definitely a worthwhile read. The Ruby Locket

Review of The World Breaks for Everyone

The World Breaks Everyone The World Breaks Everyone by Lauren Clark

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have never read books by this author before and I was very pleasantly surprised!

Well, the first thing that grabbed my attention with this book, was the author's prose.
She writes SO BEAUTIFULLY! Let me give you just one example:

"Olivia felt like confetti left out in the rain, fragile and soaking-wet, a paper-thin afterthought; her former rainbow of colors bleeding into the pavement."

This book has everything a thriller should have but also manages moments of pure poignancy. It is essentially a story about a young girl in danger, running for her life and not knowing who to trust. But the author manages to bring in lots of other aspects that turn this into a book that manages to be charming, gripping and heartbreaking at the same time.
And her descriptions - just wow. You can almost smell and feel the vibrant, distinctive and multicultural city of New Orleans. It really makes me want to visit! The suspense aspect of it kicks in quite quickly and really keeps you guessing and rooting for both Olivia and Kate, her father's new girlfriend. The author also broaches the issues of suicide, trauma and grief very sensitively and draws you into her characters' lives in a way that makes you believe they are real people.

My only minor criticisms would be that the ending felt a little bit rushed (after all the running and hiding etc) and I would have liked to see Kate and Theo interact more. Their relationship was the only one I didn't feel fully invested in.

However, the narrative moves at a pace that really keeps your interest and it is the first time in ages that I haven't guessed the twist and have really struggled to put a book down. I would definitely recommend this book and will be looking to read more by this author.
