Book Review: More Than Meets the Eye by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen
Published in 2023. Mystery. Dr. Kendra Michaels arrives at the scene of a mass murder where ten FBI agents were killed and dozens more injured. They had gathered to follow the lead of a serial killer, James Barnett, who offered to lead them to the burial site of his first victim. The shallow grave explodes as the FBI begins to excavate. Kendra uses her exceptional skills of observation to determine someone else, other than the serial killer, planted the explosives, but the question is who? As she investigates, she uncovers another angle to serial killers she wasn’t aware of. Serial killers may not be lone wolves, but act at the behest of an alpha killer.
While I found the concept to be interesting, there was too much flirting between Kendra and her long-time friend, Lynch, especially at the crime scenes. In addition, a clue found included a pair of prescription swim goggles, but it didn't follow the potential victim wore glasses or contacts.
The authors have written dozens of books together and separately, and I’ve read several. This may be the last.
