Haiku - Blue Twine

thin blue twine holding

stainless steel bin to rusted gate -

water for the horses

west wind shepherding

the thin racing waves ashore

seaweed gulping air

The Magpie's Haul - Haibun

Last weekend, whilst clearing out the fridge, I came across an old block of cheese. After cutting it up, left it outside for the birds.

The magpies descended. After awhile I noticed that as well as flying back to their nest with cheese, they were hiding some pieces in the old dog kennel. So no-one else could take their cheese.

Then standing by the kitchen window, one clever fellow was digging a hole in a flower pot and burying some cheese. All the while giving me a knowing beady eye.

digging a small hole

magpie hides the extra cheese

in white flower pot

mouldy cheese left out

magpies swoop for the cheese fest

hide some for later

Stillness - 3 Haiku

1.

bitter blue morning

the serene blue bay sleeping

silent empty beach

2.

bitter blue morning

the serene blue bay sleeping

just muffled traffic

3.

bitter blue morning

the serene grey bay sleeping

stillness this stillness

Seagulls - 3 Haiku

1.

flocks, flocks of seagulls

line the craggy shoreline's edge

jump incoming waves

2.

flocks, flocks of seagulls

line the craggy shoreline's edge

me them and seaweed

3.

flocks, flocks of seagulls

line the craggy shoreline's edge

me, them, with our thoughts
