A to Z: Letter I
Thanks to Arlee Bird for creating the A to Z Challenge. My theme this year is books that have been adapted to movies.
IN COLD BLOOD by TRUMAN CAPOTE
In Cold Blood was adapted to a movie in 1967. It's about a
botched robbery by two drifters and it results in a brutal
murder of a rural family.
This movie greatly disturbed me. And to this day I will never
watch it again.
Trivia: Who won the Academy Award for Best Actor in Capote? (Hint: He just died of a drug overdose.)
Yesterday's Trivia Answer: Octavia Spencer won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Help.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
The Help takes place during the Civil Rights Era in America. A girl who wishes to become a journalist comes up with a brilliant idea of writing about a black maids perspective living in Jackson, Mississippi. The exposure of racism and cruelty abound during this time.

A to Z: Letter C
CATCHING FIRE by Suzanne Collins
The Second Book in the Hunger Games Series published in 2009. Adapted to film in 2013.Suzanne Collins continues the amazing story of Katniss Everdeen in the phenomenal Hunger Games trilogy.
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
I read the entire series and enjoyed them. The movies, which usually are never as good as the book were entertaining!

I write YA, and sometimes it's difficult to find the right voice. The need to keep it simple and snarky. (I'm not snarky) Personally, I don't like profanity, but YA definitely is raw at times. So how to keep it real? I just finished reading Laurie Halse Anderson's novel, The Impossible Knife of Memory, and she blew me away with her teen voice. I realize as a writer, I must claim my own style and voice.
Bible Quote: Jer 29:11 : "For I know the plans I have for you,”
declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not
to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Another Trivia Question: What Bible Verse is Touted at many Sporting Events?

So We Begin! A to Z Challenge: Letter A
Here We Go! The First Day of the A to Z Challenge! This is my second time posting with the A to Z Challenge, thanks to The Genius Idea of Arlee Bird! Linky List is Here.
Last year I posted each day by the seat of my pants. And this year I actually gave it some thought and started ahead of time. *YAY* Since I love movies and books, my posts will be centered around books adapted to film and to amazing screenwriters, and play-writers.
ANGELS & DEMONS by Dan BrownA Mystery/Thriller published in 2000.
Angels & Demons was adapted to film in 2009 and directed by the awesome and talented Ron Howard. I've read the book and seen the movie, both are spectacular! Angels & Demons was brought to film after The DaVinci Code, however, the DaVinci Code was published in 2003 after Angels & Demons.
From You Tube: A conversation with the stars about the movie and The Illuminati. Very Interesting.
Trivia: What Movie Star portrayed the Camerlengo, the one who gains temporary control of the Vatican?
Check out the answer tomorrow.
