#Pit2Pub

The Intro: Who has fun spending hours creating that perfect 140-character pitch? Then bouncing that sentence or two off others to see if it's fantastic? And finally having to create a couple more so you're not posting the same one every few hours?
The Why: Kristin and Ann know what you're going through. In fact, they both did quite a few Twitter Pitch Parties so they know your pain. Kristin remembers what it was like to see that little colored star and then checking and re-checking email to confirm that someone did in fact click on the pitch and favorite it. And Ann's recalls her heart pounding and her palms sweaty, all the while hoping and praying that it wasn't made by accident from a friend or some complete stranger who marked it and not re-tweeted it by mistake. They both trolled the feed all day long and didn't work their day jobs (well, mostly this was Kristin).

So it's because of those reasons Ann M. Noser and Kristin D. Van Risseghem wanted to help other authors. So why not pay it forward? They are fortunate enough to have a published book, and working on their second. But let's face it, the best reason for them doing this? IT'S FUN! So let's all have a blast, help each other out, and maybe, just maybe, you'll find that perfect relationship between author and publisher.

The When: Here’s the date for #Pit2PubJuly 15, 2015 starts at 8AM and ends at 8PM (CST or CDT, which is Chicago time).

The What: What is #Pit2Pub? A Twitter Pitch Party for writers to tweet a 140-character pitch for their completed manuscripts. Have several variations of your Twitter pitch available. The pitch must include the hashtag #Pit2Pub, the Age Group, and the Genre (#YA, #MG, #A, etc. see chart below) in the tweet.  It's important to include the hashtag(s) .Age Groups:
#PB = Picture Book
#C = Children's
#MG = Middle Grade
#YA = Young Adult
#NA = New Adult
#A = Adult
#WF = Woman’s FictionGenres:
#NF = Non-fiction
#SFF = SciFi & Fantasy
#LF = Literary Fiction
#M = Mystery
#T = Thriller
#CL = Children's Lit#CB = Chapter Book
#R = Romance
#Mem = Memoir
#S = Suspense
#RS = Romantic Suspense
#W = Westerns
#E = EroticaRULES:
Authors of all genres are welcome to pitch their completed and polished manuscripts. You can pitch more than one manuscript. Tweet your pitch throughout the day, but no more than twice per hour per manuscript. When you see an industry professional on the feed, tweet it once. Remember to include the hashtag #Pit2Pub and genre.

The publishers will tweet their submission preferences and favorite your tweet if they wish to see more. If you get a favorite from an agent or publisher, follow their submission directions on their website or look for them on this blog. Then send them their request as soon as you can. They may have tweeted what they want you to send, so check their twitter feed for that information.

Make sure to put “Pit2Pub Request: TITLE” in the subject line of your email when sending your request.Don’t tweet agents and publishers directly unless they tweet you first.Don’t favorite friends’ tweets. You can RT your friends to show your support. Save favoriting for publisher requests to avoid confusion.Be sure you research each requesting publisher. Don’t submit if you don’t want to work with them.

Be nice and courteous to each other and to the industry professionals. If you do see abuse, please report it to Twitter or notify Ann or Kristin right away.

Check back on their blogs (http://www.kristinvanrisseghem.com/blog) or Ann's Blog (http://annmnoser.com) as we post the list of comfirmed publishers who have signed up to monitor the feed on July 15, 2015!

Thank you! And let the fun begin!!!

Prah, Constantine, Baryeh #Review #Fantasy

It's that time of the month when our team posts our reviews. This month I picked Emily Cyr's The Lightning Prophecy

Delaney Hagen’s power to control lightning is unique, even among witches. That uniqueness has caused her to run and hide from her kind - and the other supernatural beings in the world. Finally, after years of running, she feels safe enough to settle down. But her life’s calm is completely destroyed when her best friend is murdered. Delaney teams up with the mysterious and sexy Reid Jamison to figure out just what is going down in her world. Delaney will have to make a choice between her life and love. Will she be the product of a prophecy or will her fate be changed?Reid Jamison knew this case wouldn't be easy. But, with the money the Coven was throwing at him, how could he say no? When he met Delaney Hagen, his whole world began to unravel. Faced with a prophecy, murders, love and betrayal, will Reid be able to hang on to this new world? Or will it slip away?

Cathrina's Review:

The author, Emily Cyr developed an enjoyable read with an edge of mystery. The alpha males were outstanding and that alone kept my interest. The Lightning Prophecy held a definite twist to my way of thinking of witches and werewolves. I didn't expect that thing to happen at the end, and since I never leave spoilers, I guess you'll just have read The Lightning Prophecy to find out.

I look forward to her next book...

Now let's hop over to Nana Prah and Empi Baryeh to read their review.

#IWSG Insecure Writer's Support Group

http://www.insecurewriterssupportgroup.com/p/iwsg-sign-up.html
Join Alex J. Cavanaugh and a multitude of writer's in this monthly hop to help support one another!

The awesome co-hosts for the the July 1 posting of the IWSG will be Charity Bradford, S.A. Larsen, AJ, Tamara Narayan, Allison Gammons, and Tanya Miranda!

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

I'd been in the editing stages for so long that when I returned to my WIP, I scratched my head.

My muse has dried up like a rotting peach. I'm now in the process of rereading this project in hopes of creating a spark of integrity.

Hopping around the blogsphere I read a new author's excerpt for her debut novel and loved it, and wished I could write like that. Those unwanted neurotic doubts of my writing ability continue to creep in and bother me like a tiny sliver wedged under the skin.

While you're reading this post, I should be driving home from Boston, a much needed break. I hope I found my muse while I was away.

#CelebrateTheSmallThings and New Release: DARKER SIDE OF WORLDS by Lexi Ostrow

Hop over to Lexa Cain to join in this fun weekly Celebration. Lexa's co-hosts areL.G. Keltner @ Writing Off The Edge
Katie @ TheCyborgMom

I truly enjoy this once a week small celebration. Join in the fun.

My 1 year-old grandson now says, "Uh, Oh." as he dips his arm into the dogs water bowl and looks at me with innocent eyes. He cracks me up!!
It's been raining on and off for the entire week   which makes the gardens thrive but it kills my good mood. I guess I'll just Dance....

On the writing front, I'll be done revamping my YA/Romance with historical elements hopefully today.

How are you Celebrating the Small Things?

Now Here's My Fellow Author's New Release:

Screen Shot 2015-05-16 at 6.59.43 AM  Dale grew up fighting for self respect and the respect of others. Being a Word Speaker hadn’t helped. Most of the Guardians he had sought out those that were decidedly darker and fighting on what could be seen as the wrong side of the war. When Ciara gives him her gifts to follow her own happy ending he’s forced to see his self worth and honor her precious gift.
Breena is a dark sprite in charge of sneaking through dreams to steal information in a war between the Seelie and Unseelie court in her world. Finding out she’s a book character destined to save the life of a human wasn’t her cup of tea - but it was her father’s. Commanded to get close the Word Speaker Dale so they could all enter his world she’s forced to leave what she knows behind and corrupt a man on the brink of finding himself.

When passion ignites between Dale and Breena he finds himself seduced by the darkness once more. He’s tangled up in a web that threatens to change his stance in the war just before his 27th birthday. When her true intentions come out he will have to choose between dark and light, and where he stands in the war.
Join the party! 25532746 Excerpt: “God damn it, Breena. Fuck.” He reached up and tugged her head to his and covered her mouth with his own.

She tasted as good as she had the first time, fruity and sweet. He wanted to lose himself in the kiss, in her body. He was certain she wasn’t going to pull back, so he let her head go and his hands found her perfect breasts. He pinched the already hard nipples, and she jerked, the sensation rocking through his cock so hard he wanted her to stop holding him and let him slip inside.

“Dale, Dale, I want this. I want you.” She pulled back from the kiss and stopped moving against him. “I know what I do for my father, but this isn’t for him. This isn’t for that tool that told me the rules. This is for me, for you.”

Her words were hard to ignore. She was giving him one chance to take the way out, and he knew it. But he didn’t want it. Not at that moment. She was right, they could clear their heads after they had sex, and then he could properly set her aside and find the right Guardian. He’d been without for long enough, and she was beautiful, wet and begging.

“Just tonight, Breena. Just so we can think clearly, and because I seriously don’t have any energy left to stop this.”

She chuckled and it was filled with lust. The sound shot any blood left over straight into his erection. She guided him into her body, and as he sunk into her folds, he groaned. She was hot and tight around him, and when she had taken him all the way to the hilt, she began to move.

About the Author: Lexi Ostrow has been in love with the written word since second grade when her librarian started a writing club. Born in sunny southern California she's spent time in various places across the country and can't wait to settle down somewhere in the French Quarter when she's able too.

Lexi has been a writer ever since the second grade in some form or another. Getting her degree in creative writing and her master's in journalism she couldn't wait to get a chance to put her fantasies down on paper. From paranormal romance to thriller there isn't a genre she doesn't love to spend her time reading or writing.
Reading and writing are her first loves but her passion for shopping, love for yummy food and her love for all her many pets. She hopes to one day help other readers fall in love with writing as she did.

Cover Reveal: SWAY by Melanie Stanford

Ava Elliot never thought she’d become a couch surfer. But with a freshly minted—and worthless—degree from Julliard, and her dad squandering the family fortune, what choice does she have?
Living with her old high school friends, though, has its own drawbacks. Especially when her ex-fiancé Eric Wentworth drops back into her life. Eight years ago, she was too young, too scared of being poor, and too scared of her dad’s disapproval. Dumping him was a big mistake.

In the most ironic of role reversals, Eric is rolling in musical success, and Ava’s starting at the bottom to build her career. Worse, every song Eric sings is an arrow aimed straight for her regrets.

One encounter, one song too many, and Ava can’t go on like this. It’s time to tell Eric the truth, and make a choice. Finally let go of the past, or risk her heart for a second chance with her first love. If he can forgive her…and she can forgive herself.

BIO:
Melanie Stanford reads too much, plays music too loud, is sometimes dancing, and always daydreaming. She would also like her very own TARDIS, but only to travel to the past. She lives outside Calgary, Alberta, Canada with her husband, four kids, and ridiculous amounts of snow.

Learn More About Author M. Pax

How I Started Writing Speculative Fictionby M. Pax
What do I write? Way back when, I thought I was a literary writer, but I didn’t really know. With no real ideas of what to write, other than the impulse to write whirling in my brain, I’d sit down at the computer, bring up a photo or art image, and scribble by hand for twenty minutes going with whatever the piece of art invoked.Eventually, one of the ideas became good and lodged, growing into something bigger. The novel began as a contemporary piece as I sketched out a couple of scenes. I didn’t yet know what the story would be other than the friendship between two women.I was a huge fan of Stargate at the time (and other science fiction shows), so I decided to let my creativity run wild and set the story in space. That unpublished series is about 900,00 words and remains on my hard drive—not yet ready for primetime. However, I proved to myself I could write a whole novel (more than one). It was a big step for Marykind. My entire life I had kept my creative impulses in check (not always very successfully), and for the first time I didn’t have to. Science fiction and fantasy (part of the speculative fiction world) lets me go as far as my imagination takes me. I’ll always be drawn to it.
What do you know about speculative fiction? You can see a great explanation of it HERE. And why do you write what you write?
Here's M. Pax's Newest Release:
In the far future, humanity settles the stars, bioengineering its descendants to survive in a harsh universe. This is the sixth book in the science fiction series, The Backworlds. A space opera adventure. The Backworlds hang by a Quantum string, a thread about to snap. Annihilation is coming if Craze can’t stop it. The genocidal alien he had trapped breaks free, destroying a ship belonging to the Backworlds’ oldest enemy, the Fo’wo’s. The murderous alien wants to overtake the galaxy. The Fo’wo’s want another war.The Backworlds’ best chance to survive is to overcome a century of hate and forge an alliance with the Fo’wo’s. Because of his history with the alien, Craze is recruited to represent his people. Now he’s the most hated man in the galaxy. The looming war will be a holocaust unless Craze can stop it, knowing salvation comes at a price.

Lily

Lily Luchesi
Lily Luchesi is an aspiring, young author/poet born in Chicago, Illinois, now residing in Los Angeles, California. Ever since she was a toddler her mother noticed her tendency for being interested in all things “dark”. At two she became infatuated with vampires and ghosts, and that infatuation turned into a lifestyle by the time she was twelve, and, as her family has always been what they now call “Gothic”, she doesn’t believe she shall ever change. She is also a hopeless romantic and avid music-lover, and will always associate vampires with love, blood and rock and roll. Her interest in poetry came around the same time as when she was given a book of Edgar Allan Poe’s complete work. She then realized that she had been writing her own poetry since she could hold a pen, and just had not known the correct terms. She finished her first manuscript at the age of fourteen, and now, at twenty-one, has two contributing credits in anthologies and a debut novel, Stake-Out (Paranormal Detectives Book One), will be published on May 19th by Vamptasy Publishing.

When she isn't indulging in a spot of retail therapy, she can be found glued to some form of computer playing one 'shoot 'em up' game or another!
She also likes painting, photography, interior design, book cover design and psychology.
She isn't a complete hermit, though. She also loves to spend time with her family, friends and loved ones doing any number of socially acceptable (most of the time) things.
She is a huge fan of paranormal, thrillers and erotic fiction. And if all three are combined, she is in heaven. Especially when it comes to Alpha males!!!
