Huh? Author Mind Meld!

Well, I was browsing the books that Amazon recommends that are 'like mine', and I came across one that looks really interesting, Miss Lillian Holmes and the Leaping Man. It looks exactly like the steampunk-y genre mash up I write in, so I am anxious to read it. One of the characters even has a morphine addiction, just like a character in my upcoming novel, btw. What are the chances? Is this author's mind linked with mine? I swear to God I've never come across this author until this morning.

Unfortunately, this is a book I am going to have to put on hold, at least until December. I can't read novels that are in the same genre as the one I am writing in. I don't want any unintentional cross-pollination! This morphine fiasco is enough!

But if anyone gets a hankering to read it before me, let me know if it is any good! : )

Seed Ticks

I really need to stop obsessively checking my sales on Amazon! Let me tell you why.

Yesterday was a fairly productive day writing-wise. For the first time in weeks, I got to buckle down and spend some time with my manuscript. I am preparing for a piano recital in November as well as preparing for a book launch, not to mention taking a full load of classes towards my master's degree. So my plate's pretty full. When I get some time to spend just writing, and I am able to get in the zone, it feels good. On top of that, I got a really great review yesterday, and I submitted an article for a special steampunk blog. So I felt like I had made some strides.

Then I woke up this morning and checked all of my various accounts, ready to knock out another productive day. Then I made the mistake of checking my monthly sales on amazon. They are up, by the way, which is good. But then I saw I had a return. And my good mood crashed and burned. It was just one so far this month. But JUST ONE is enough to burrow under my skin. It is like a seed tick. Small and insignificant, but infinitely annoying.

What? Someone didn't like my book? How DARE they?

WHY didn't they like it? What did I do wrong?

Then I realized that I've returned books before for a multitude of reasons. What goes around comes around, I guess.

But I won't let a seed tick get me down. I've got shit to do, and not a lot of time to do it in! But I had to get it out somewhere! Thanks for listening, world.

I think I'm going to take a social media break.

See y'all in November...

Or probably this afternoon, since I suspect that's how long my vow to stay away from my ipad will last. : )

Book II Cover Unveiled!!!!!!!!!! Right this flipping minute!!!!!!! Gah!

GAHHHHH! I couldn't wait. I was going to hold off on "unveiling" my new cover for A Dark Heart until tomorrow, to coincide with my free book sale of my first book. But what the heck. I have no self-control when it comes to awesomesauce.

A Dark Heart: Elders and Welders Chronicles, Bk. II, will be out November 26th 2013.

Let me know what you think about the cover!

I will be getting another one done for my first book to coordinate with this one.

How exciting this has all been! I guess I'm just a nerd at heart, because getting this cover done has been like Christmas.

Obviously, I HAVE NO LIFE!!!!!!!

Thanks to Clarissa Yeo for her excellent work! She gave me everything I wanted and more! She got Inspector Drexler down to his flipping amber eye color and scar! If you need a good cover creator at a great price, this is a link to her website:

Free giveaway approaching and other Book II tidbits

Hello, small band of followers!

Please spread the word that my book, Prince of Hearts, is going to be free on Amazon Sept. 7 & 8 to all your friends, and urge them to download it, read it, and REVIEW it!

This is the last giveaway for a while, as I am gearing up to release my next book at the end of November. I might put my first book on sale again at that time, but not before.

In other news, my cover for my second book is nearly ready. It's pretty badass, and I can't wait to unveil it. It features a human head. that's all I'll say right now.

Look for it in the near future! I'm going to unveil it alongside my book release date! All very professional-like.

So free giveaway. Spread the word!

Oh, and I just finished two chapters of my second book, Dark Heart, tonight. It is getting good! And dark! A lot darker than the first one. Inspector Drexler really has a death wish, and Lady Christiana has just about given up on him. And I don't blame her at the moment!

I just hope these crazy kids manage to have a happy ending. It's looking sort of bleak right now!

I have a book title and a contest winner!!!!

Thanks to my Goodreads friend, Lady, who gave me a lot of great title suggestions, I have decided upon a title for my second book!

Thanks, Lady! You get a free copy when it's done ... if it's done ...

I did an internet search to see what else out there shares the title, and it turns out the old school Legend Of Zelda uses it. I'd forgotten about that.

Can you guess what it is?

Short, simple and dramatic ...

"A Dark Heart"

I like it.

Stay tuned for the unveiling of my ebook cover! I will put it up on my interweb sites as soon as it's done. I am super excited!!!

Deadline tonight for title ideas! Submit now!

Many of you have read my first chapter of my new book, out in November in my last blog. A few of you have responded with some potential titles. Thanks a bunch!

I have contacted a cover designer for my next book, which I am super excited about. I made the last ebook cover myself, if you hadn't yet noticed! This time around, I am going for something a little more professional, though I did have fun creating my Prince of Hearts cover image!

But I forgot that my cover designer needs a title!

Because of that, I am making the deadline for title ideas tonight at 9:00 PM EST.

Remember, the winner gets a free copy of my new book, and a mention in the dedication! It's not much, but, hey, a free book is always nice!
