Stick a fork in me
A Dark Heart is done.
I just have to decide how much to charge for the sucker. I think it's going to be slightly more than the 2.99$ that Prince of Hearts is.
Does anyone have any advice about pricing for the ebook? I am torn between 3.99 and 4.99$.

Final edits!!!
I am rounding the home stretch. Doing some final edits, smoothing out the rough patches, and making sure everything is somewhat literate! A Dark Heart is on schedule for its debut on next Tuesday.
I suppose I will worry about marketing later : h
I'm ass backwards about that sort of stuff.
My twelve free arc copy winners, hold tight! I will send those out before I post my book on amazon.
I hope people like A Dark Heart. I just wrote the ending the other night, and I am kind of super excited about it!
I can't wait to see what people think.

Interview with a Vampire
Check out this awesome steampunk blog, Steam University, and read my own "Interview with a Vampire", which features the hero of my upcoming novel, Inspector Elijah Drexler. Get a further glimpse into his character before the book, A Dark Heart, comes out Nov. 26th.
And vote for my book, Prince of Hearts, on listopia! It's on two lists!!! I don't even know when that happened, but it's pretty cool.

I'm stuck!
I think I wrote myself into a hole I have no hope of climbing out of alive! Oh, dear!
Too many characters, too many plot points, too much explanatory dialogue. I need to step away, assess, and freaking make it work.
AND figure out how to describe my steampunk doomsday device.
Ugh.

Book II Reviewers Request -- FREE ARC!
Because so many of you on Goodreads have been so supportive of my fledgling writing career, I am offering a free ARC copy of my new book, A Dark Heart, to the first 13 people who leave a comment to this blog.
Hey, there are 13 Da Vinci hearts out there, so I thought it was only fitting! ; )
ARC copies (in PDF format) should be available shortly before the Nov. 26th debut on Amazon and Smashwords.
If you are interested in claiming one of these spots, let me know, and spread the word to your friends! I am unsure how quickly these spots will fill, or even if they will at all.
But FREE anything is always nice!
In other news, I am in the process of making paper copies of both of my titles available in the hopes of one day having a giveaway on this site. If anyone has advice on that process, I'd love to hear it.
I finally realize why writers need agents and publishers. It's a lot of work to do all this on your own.
But I'm enjoying the ride!
Now back to Inspector Drexler ...

My new book is a hot mess!
The countdown to my Nov. 26th debut of A Dark Heart is on!
And my book is currently a hot mess!
And extremely dark. A lot of bad stuff happens to the characters. I don't know what happened. But that was just their story, and I had to tell it.
Does that ever happen to you, other authors? You just know these things happened to your characters and you can't change it?
But luckily, I figured out the overarching plot line, and even more importantly what the next book is going to be about.
And I have to say, I am SUPER excited about the third book. GAHHHHHH!!!! Inspiration just struck me while I was out jogging with my dog the other day, and I've been on a roll ever since.
The third book is going to be AWESOMESAUCE, and I'm not going to give anything away about it. Ever.
I just need to calm down, however, and get through the second one. it it just sooo depressing in places. I mean, it's about a drug addicted vampire, for God's sakes.
But it spends a lot more time steampunk world building, which was another aspect my readers wanted more of. And the romance is very epic, even more epic than Aline and Sasha's story, in my opinion. I just hope my current readers like it as much as they did the first one.
Perhaps Nov. 26th was a bit ambitious for me ... but I've heard from so many readers that they want the sequel ASAP, and I just got really motivated to JUST DO IT! And I do work better under pressure. : )
Right now, I'm just thinking: witty banter, witty banter! This book needs some comic relief!
I just hope I sort this hot mess out soon! I want a tight, edited copy out Nov. 26th.
*******
Update(hours later): oh, it will be ready. But the melodrama! I'm crying over my own book, and I don't know if that's a good sign or not. Some of it is REALLY hard to write and just over the top Intense.

An Indie Author's work is never done
I just uploaded a new version of my first book, Prince of Hearts, onto Amazon and Smashwords. It has been a long and drawn out saga, as I lost my master copy when my old computer died.
But after much conversion drama, the process is over. Thank God.
I changed very little in the text itself, just a few minor typos and word inconsistencies that have been bugging me for quite some time after reading my kindle book. Hey, I don't have an editor, and for the most part that is fine. I have a Master's in English Literature and proofread stuff all the time for people. But small things have a way of getting past me, despite my best efforts.
I did add a preview of my book at the end (Just the prologue, which I have already blogged on this site, btw, nothing new). Hopefully this will generate buzz about my new book coming out!
And after my run in KDP select expired, I decided to offer my title on Smashwords, which uploads to sites like Barnes and Noble and iBooks. We'll see how that goes. I have heard mixed feedback from other authors about doing this, but I say a sale is a sale!
