Thank you to those who #StandWithIsrael

[image error]Los Angeles #StandWithIsrael Rally May 12, 2021 Photo by Jill Cutler

Israel is under attack.

Since May 10, 2021, Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (both recognized by the U.S. and EU as terrorist organizations) have launched over 3000 rockets at Israel’s civilian population centers. Millions of Israelis have had to run for shelter, and over 1500 Israeli civilians have been wounded. 10 Israelis have been murdered by Hamas, including 21 year old combat soldier Staff Sgt. Omer Tabib of the Nahal Brigade, and an adorable 6 year old boy named Ido, who loved Ninja Turtles. May their memories be for a blessing.

While the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) clearly must act to eliminate the sources of those attacks and protect our brothers and sisters, we sadly hear some voices calling for Israel to ‘exercise restraint.’ There is no justification for the indiscriminate rocket attack on innocent civilians. As any other sovereign state, Israel has the right and duty to defend its citizens.

Over the past several days, Pro Israel rallies have been held from coast-to-coast across the United States. The clear and unifying message of those rallies is that we #StandWithIsrael.

Roz Rothstein, co-founder and CEO StandWithUs, one of the co-sponsors of the pro-Israel rallies, stated, “People of the Middle East and around the world can contrast the success of the Abraham Accords and the warm relations now enjoyed between Gulf Arab States and Israel with the failures of Hamas and Palestinian Authority leaders to accept the Jewish State, normalize relations with it and make any credible moves towards peace. Instead, Hamas is attempting to escalate conflict, to perpetrate terror attacks and massacre Israelis. All leaders and people of goodwill should condemn Hamas and radical leaders who are an obstacle for a better future for all people in the region.”

To learn more about the extraordinary work that StandWithUs is doing to support Israel and the Jewish people, please click here.

Our work is just beginning. We must diligently continue to advocate on behalf of Israel. It is imperative that our elected representatives and leaders continue to speak out publicly and condemn the attacks by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and support Israel’s right to defend itself.

IAC, which also co-sponsored the Pro Israel Coast to Coast rallies, stated: “We pray for the safety of Israel and of our friends and family serving in the IDF. And we thank you all once again for taking part in this important process of civic engagement with our public officials in support of our beloved Israel and her security.”

Thank you America for choosing to #StandWithIsrael.

[image error]Los Angeles #StandWithIsrael Rally May 12, 2021 Photo by Jill CutlerStandWithUs Condemns Hamas for Attacks on Israeli Civilians

(Los Angeles – May 11, 2021) – Hamas has been inciting and organizing violent protests in Jerusalem for the last several weeks, the newest development in their ongoing terror campaign that has included setting fire to swathes of Israeli land, shooting 19-year old Israeli teenager Yehuda Guetta, to death and perpetrating several recent terror attacks. One senior Hamas leader, Fathi Hammad, was televised on May 7 inciting to murder, saying, “People of Jerusalem, we want you to cut off the heads of the Jews with knives. With your hand, cut their artery from here.”

Sadly, this is not new. For a century, long before the establishment of Israel, extremists from the Nazi collaborator, Palestinian Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, have been promoting conspiracy theories about “the Jews” threatening to destroy the Al-Aqsa mosque. This weaponized rhetoric of “Al Aqsa is in danger” lie has been used repeatedly by Palestinian and Arab leaders to incite violence against Israelis and Jews in general. Inevitably people have died as a result. The truth is, of course, that only since Israel has overseen Jerusalem is there equal and free access to people of all backgrounds to pray at their respective holy sites.

Hamas, its allies and supporters – the Islamic Republic of Iran, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah – explicitly call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the subjugation of all its Jewish citizens. Those who support this agenda are partners in hate and are adversaries of peace.

Hamas’s heavy-fisted misrule of Gaza is a travesty of justice. Named by Forbes Magazine as the third richest terror group in the world, Hamas does not use its resources to build a peaceful future for their people by investing in civilian infrastructure. Instead Hamas has spent billions of dollars turning the Gaza Strip into a militarized armed camp. Hamas has built a network of sophisticated tunnels under Gaza and cross-border attack tunnels designed to send terror squads to kidnap and attack Israeli civilians. Hamas uses its millions on weapons factories and to purchase missiles from Iran, anti-tank weapons, assault rifles, mortars, grenades, anti-personnel mines and much more.

Many public officials, Democrats and Republicans alike, are standing up for Israel during this challenging time. We are grateful to all of them for their support. Please click here, via the #StandWithIsrael Israeli-American Coalition for Action list, to thank them for choosing to #StandWithIsrael.

We invite you to join us in thanking:

US Rep. Ted Deutch (FL-D)

US Rep. Neal Dunn (FL-R)
“Israel is right to defend itself. Hamas is a terrorist org that is motivated by destruction & hate. Israel can’t stand by & watch their civilians be killed, nor should they be expected to.”

US Rep Lois Frankel (FL-D)
“Israel has a right to defend itself. Hamas must end its attack.”

US Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NY-D)

TX State Senator Bryan Hughes (R)

“Israel being our biggest partner in the Middle East and the only true democracy, we’ve got to make sure Israel has what it needs to defend itself.”

Texas State Rep. Phil King (R):
“Texas supports Israel’s right to act decisively in self-defense to protect its citizens and end aggressions by the Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organizations.”

US Rep Elaine Luria (VA-D)
“Jews returned to their ancestral home… and today in their rightful homeland, they are attacked from within… Who would turn a cheek, when their mere right to exist is questioned? … Now is the time to stand with Israel.”

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds (R)

“Over the past couple days, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza, who are funded by Iran, have launched a series of rocket attacks into Israel. They are targeting Israeli civilians and cities, including Israel’s capital Jerusalem. … In light of these recent attacks by Hamas against Israel, the United States should take all steps necessary to hold Tehran accountable and under no circumstances, provide sanctions relief to Iran. This is especially important as Iran is supporting terrorist activity against the United States’ closest ally in the region, Israel.”

US Rep. Brad Sherman (CA-D)
“Hamas has caused many Palestinian deaths, since one quarter of its rockets aimed at Israel actually explode in Gaza, and because Hamas locates its military operations in civilian neighborhoods, using human shields.”

US Rep. Norma Torres (CA-D)
“I strongly condemn the rocket attacks by Hamas on Israel’s civilian population. There is no justification for terror attacks on civilians.”

Prepare Your Pandemic Pivot with Ken Lindner’s 8C’s

Choreograph your Career by Consistently implementing Conscious, Constructive, success-evoking Choices, made with Cognitive Clarity.

Thank you to Thrive Global for publishing my article, “Prepare Your Pandemic Pivot with Ken Lindner’s 8C’s.”

During COVID, many of us have lost our loved ones, our jobs and our way. Ken Lindner’s new book, Career Choreography: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Finding the Right Job and Achieving Huge Success and Happiness, can help you “learn to perceive every unexpected event, challenge, or obstacle as a golden opportunity to make something good or great happen.” With his decades of experience choreographing his clients incredible careers, he will show you examples of how: “When you’re handed lemons, make lemonade.”

Many thousands of this country’s most successful and popular television newscasters and program hosts, as well as many hugely successful entrepreneurs and professionals have worked with him over the last 35 years. Lindner shares stories of helping such well-known individuals as Lester Holt, Mario Lopez, Megyn Kelly, Robin Meade, and Liz Claman. If COVID has kicked you in your ass-ets, you can use his 8C’s to clarify your values, goals, dreams and set your sights on your next stop towards success.

Career Choreography™ enables you to craft your most rewarding career path, secure the job or position of your dreams, and be hugely successful at your position or profession. On his website and through his book, you can “reflect, assess, and tweak or reboot [your] professional plans and dreams.”

The 8C’s are: Choreograph your Career by Consistently implementingConscious, Constructive, success-evoking Choices, made with Cognitive Clarity.

As Lindner states: “The difference between individuals who consistently fulfill their dreams and those who don’t is that the former make constructive and self-enhancing choices on a consistent basis.”

This reminds me of a quote by Leonardo da Vinci: ”It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.”

I was fortunate to meet Lindner several years ago through Rabbi Herscher at Stephen S. Wise Temple. Just as he explains in his book, he asked me about my goals and dreams and helped me think through my possible career trajectories. As we discussed back then, step-by-step, I have been sharing my travel stories on KTLA TV and even won awards for them in the Southern California Journalism Awards as well as in the National Arts and Entertainment Journalism awards. I have been hard at work on my memoir and book proposal. Now, as I search for an agent and finish my book, I am closer than ever to having my own TV show about travel, culture and interacting with interesting people around the world. It is something which I’ve always done on my YouTube channel, We Said Go Travel, but next I would like to share in a more formal way as a show and grow my audience from the 1.3 million views I have now.

Lindner says that: “while you’re alive, you always have opportunities to take steps that will put you in a position to fulfill your most positive potential and make your heart sing!”

I have been following his advice:

construct a success-evoking set of steps that put you in a position to attain a specific goal or set of goals by visualizing “what can be”“what is” (where you are today) and write down the steps so that you can make your vision a reality.carry out—or implement—these steps.

On Career Choreography, https://careerchoreography.com/, website, you can find more tips about the Positive Life Choice Psychology Lifestyle™ with Goal and Dream Lists. In this time when so many can or need to pivot, start with a Clarifying List:

What makes you happy?  What do you like/love doing? What are you good at? What skills, experiences, and/or education do you have that would prepare you to have a fulfilling and successful career or experience in a particular field? What do you not like doing or not want in your job or career?

Lindner shares stories about his own career, his father’s two incredible careers and how he took “paddle tennis—and transformed it into a national and international sport in a relatively short time, with a pittance of money spent.” I also loved his poems and this description of his dad: “he became an invaluable asset to his employer and a pain in the ass-et to insecure superiors.”

He has written four books including Your Killer Emotions: The 7 Steps to Mastering the Toxic Emotions, Urges, and Impulses That Sabotage You, which is about “EUM”—EMOTION AND URGE MANAGEMENT. Remember in these difficult times, do not let “one sabotaging moment destroy your career for years, or possibly a lifetime.” As Warren Buffett is quoted saying: “It can take twenty years to build a reputation, and five minutes to destroy it.”

Many people talk about EQ or having emotional intelligence, IQ or your relative intelligence but don’t forget about what Lindner calls “P.I.”—politically intelligent! When you have defeats, disappointments, and rejection, never stop believing in yourself. “Try to learn as much as possible from the defeat and get back in the game as soon as possible, with more effective strategies and improved choreographies, because if you don’t get back in it—you have no chance to win it!

Remember to “put your detractors and setbacks in your mental and emotional rear-view mirror as you drive toward success.” I know these trying times have caused many detours, bumps and roadblocks in my plans. Remember the FACT’s: Be FLEXIBLE, ADAPTABLE, CREATIVE and TRUST in the process and you will be open to calmly and effectively implementing the amendments needed to attain your career goals and dreams in these challenging times.

The Four Principles of Career Choreography:

Construct and implement the most effective set of steps and strategies in order to attain your Goals. Choreograph your Career by Consistently implementing Conscious, Constructive, success-evoking Choices made with Cognitive Clarity.Every career decision you make and each career step you take should reflect your most important career values and bring you closer to attaining your career Goals and living your career Dreams.Never make career decisions or act if your best judgment is clouded or dismantled by sabotaging emotions, impulses, or urges.

Ask yourself, “Are you truly living? Is your heart singing? If not, start choreographing! Success in life doesn’t necessarily bring happiness, but if you’re truly happy with yourself and with your life, you are a huge success!”

Covid Relief to India through WHEN: World Health and Education Network

I met Jonathan Reisman in India nearly a decade ago. He is a physician who founded World Health and Education Network (WHEN). They are seeking funding to help in the COVID health crisis in India.

India is experiencing a devastating Covid-19 surge right now, with healthcare systems throughout the country strained and buckling. Help raise funds which will be used to purchase medical equipment like oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, pulse oximeters, PPE, and more. Through the World Health and Education Network (WHEN) and several other organizations, equipment will be shipped from the US as well as from China over land. These supplies will be distributed throughout India to organizations, charities, and hospitals who are running low.

To procure and deliver life saving equipment and other community help in response to the ongoing Covid 19 crises, we seek your support in this moment of crisis.  Since time is of the essence, please donate generously and help us reach this target by May 9, 2021. Organized by Aliva De, Sourav Sen, Jonathan Reisman, Jonathan Stypula and friends.

DONATE AT GOFUNDME

From the funds raised from this campaign, Pulse oximeters, PPE, Thermometers, Oxygen Concentrators and much more will be provided to local medical organizations and NGOs providing medical care in India. Additional plans include arranging for food and medicine distribution to the needy as well as the isolated senior citizens of India. A major goal is to provide pulse oximeters to as many organizations as possible.

World Health and Education Network (WHEN) is a registered 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization based in the US. The raised funds will provide immediate COVID relief supplies to the grounds.

Calcutta Rescue is one  of WHEN’s primary supported projects. In response to the devastating effects of the  COVID crisis and its  particular impacts on smaller healthcare enterprises in India, WHEN will also be providing COVID relief to  small local  healthcare organizations across India in all the major cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai.

Our immediate COVID specific work is as follows:

Dealing with people exhibiting COVID symptomsCR, with help of its UK doctors have drafted a clear COVID protocol.CR has nine doctors, three of which are dedicated to dealing with people with symptoms.CR has community healthcare workers (CHWs), similar to government ASHA workers, who live in the slums and have been trained by CR. Equipped with thermal guns and pulse oximeters, they will move around their communities identifying people exhibiting symptoms. For any people with symptoms, they will be referred to our doctors who will consult with them either through phone or physically at one of our OPD clinics. For mild to moderate symptoms, our doctors will give advice and prescribe medication – dexamethasone and budesonide – to be taken at home.Continous monitoring will be done remotely. If symptoms worsen and O2 levels fall, CR will activate its Quick Response Team who will try to ensure hospitalisation as quickly as possible. However, while hospitalisation is likely to be delayed because of a lack of beds, CR will consider sending an oxygen cylinder to the person’s home.VaccinationsHealth education on the importance of vaccinationIncentivise beneficiaries to get vaccinated with nutrition packets and reimbursement of costsTie-up with local vaccination centres where CR will facilitate the vaccination of our beneficiaires, street and slum dwellersCurrently investigating the possibility of CR becoming a vaccination centre.Other Healthcare ServicesWith the healthcare system overrun, CR is continuing to provide its high quality primary healthcare servicesWhile we have been doing home deliveries of medicines over the duration of the pandemic to a few of our most vulnerable patients, we have now decided to increase that activity. Logistically, it is complex as our patients suffering from cancer, HIV, leprosy, diabetes,TB, heart & kidney disease are located across 8 different districts of Bengal spanning hundreds of kilometres – north to south and east to west. We are now drafting the delivery schedule, and its execution will start from around May 7th. This is also necessary as the government has just announced restrictions of movement which is going to make it more difficult for our patients to travel to our clinics to collect their life-saving medication.CR’s OPD clincis remain open to the poorest of the poor residing in Kolkata and surrounding districts. They will be assessed either physically at one of our fixed clinics or through tele-consultation with any one of our nine doctorsNutritionFor the most vulnerable – the very sick, the elderly, pregnant mothers and our students (in the absence of midday meals), CR will continue to provide and if needed, deliver, nutrition to the doorstep. With current government restrictions, economic activity will be curtailed, incomes will again reduce and food insecurity will increase.Education of street and slum childrenThe new double or triple mutant variant is having a bigger impact on children and young people. So four weeks ago, we suspended our hugely successful Education on Wheels project and we have closed our two schools again. This is a bitter blow to our oldest two year groups who were allowed to restart school in December, but the risks of transmission are just too great. For the foreseeable future all teaching will be done online and over the phone. At least, thanks to many donors’ support last year, all of our students now have internet access. The work of our Covid Warriors – senior CR students who for months have been running awareness sessions in their communities about the need to wear masks, wash hands and get vaccinated, is also having a positive impact.[image error]
