Cancer Killing Dandelion Tea Gets $157K Research Grant
Researchers in Windsor, Ont. now have a total of $217,000 to study the effectiveness of dandelion root extract in regard to fighting cancer.

Cancer Killing Dandelion Tea Gets $157K Research Grant
A Biochemist at the University of Windsor, Siyaram Pandey, has been studying the anti-cancer potential of dandelion root extract for almost 2 years now. The first phase of his team’s research proved the dandelion root extract forced a very aggressive and drug-resistant type of blood cancer cell, known as chronic monocytic myeloid leukemia, to literally kill themselves.
They then discovered that using repeated treatment with low doses of the dandelion root extract was effective in killing off most cancerous cells.
The initial findings landed the research team a $60,000 grant from Seeds4Hope, which provides money for local cancer research.
Here is an excerpt of what Pandey stated:
Pandey admits he was skeptical when he was first approached by local oncologist, Dr. Caroline Hamm, who was curious about cancer patients who had been drinking dandelion tea and seemed to be getting better.
“To be honest I was very pessimistic,” Pandey said in a statement. “She said it could be coincidental but it couldn’t hurt to see if there is anything.”
Hamm was convinced that the weed contains an active ingredient, but warned earlier this year that “it can harm as well as benefit.”
She told CBC News in February that taking dandelion extract tea could interfere with regular chemotherapy, and she urged patients not to mix the natural remedy with other cancer drugs without speaking to a doctor first.
Pandey conducted a literature review and could only find one journal article suggesting dandelions may have cancer-killing properties. But he and his team of graduate students collected a bunch of the weeds anyway, ground them up with a mixture of water in a food processor and developed a simple formula they could experiment with.
They tested the formula on several lines of commercially available leukemia cells and much to their surprise, found that the formula caused those cells to kill themselves, a process called apoptosis.
“It was startling, but it was not that startling until we saw that it was non-toxic to the normal cells,” he said.
John DiCarlo, 72, says dandelion tea saved his life, after other medical treatments for his leukemia failed. John DiCarlo, 72, says dandelion tea saved his life, after other medical treatments for his leukemia failed. (CBC News)
John DiCarlo, 72, was admitted to hospital three years ago with leukemia. Even after aggressive treatment, he was sent home to put his affairs in order with his wife and four children.
The cancer clinic suggested he try the tea. Four months later, he returned to the clinic in remission. He has been cancer free for three years.
He said his doctor credits the dandelions.
“He said, ‘You are doing pretty good, you aren’t a sick man anymore.”

Cancer is a 300 billion dollar industry which means big business for Big Pharma and the FDA. Cancer: The Forbidden Cures documentary exposes many

Cancer: The Forbidden Cures – Watch the Full Documentary
effective and highly successful forms of cancer treatment that are known as quackery, shut down, diluted and discredited time and time again by the FDA. Many say that the FDA has killed more people than Hitler!
FACT: Over 106,000 people die every year from PROPERLY PRESCRIBED medicine from their doctors every year just from the side effects that are show on commercials and their lables! Think about that!
You must understand that over the last 10 decades dozens of doctors, scientist and researchers have come up with some of the most cost effective and safe solutions against cancer, but again none were taken seriously and shut down due to the almighty buck not being attached. Meaning it costs little, there is no patent available, no repeat customers for radiation or chemotherapy.
More than 20,000 people die of cancer every day and that number is growing. There is a ton of cures available to people, you just have to do the research. Take the time to watch the video as it may just open up a whole new world to you!

Smoothie Basics
I have had a few people asking to write an article on smoothie basics, what you can add and what your base should be so hopefully this will clear things up for

Smoothie Basics
people that want to start making smoothies for themselves on a regular basis.
When we make our smoothies we normally make them with many nutrients, vitamins, natural sugars and antioxidants rather than some smoothie recipes that are full of the fats, refined sugars and so forth.
Understanding the Main Ingredients of a Smoothie
Base
Liquid
Fruit
Nutritious Additives
Yummy Flavors
You’re Base
If you want to make a great smoothie you must understand it needs a base which creates a creamy texture known as the body of your smoothie.
Here are some of the bases we use:
Bananas
Bananas are the mostly widely ones used but not all like them. They are tasty, naturally sweet and creamy. Peel them, cut them into chunks and freeze if you like to save for future smoothies.
When they have the brown speckles this is when they will be the sweetest in taste. Never add a green unripe to your smoothie. You will be disappointed.
Avocados
These provide an amazing creamy base for your smoothie. Make sure your always using ripe avocados. If you’re not a big fan of avocados you can mix your base with other base products.
One of the great things about using avocados as a base is they are a great source of lutein, a carotenoid that works as an antioxidant and helps protect against eye disease.
They also contain tocopherol (vitamin E) which is great.
Another thing to remember when using avocados as a base is they are a monounsaturated fat which contains 138 calories and 14.1g fat in just half a medium sized avocado.
The recommended size to use for your smoothie base is 1/4 to 1/2 of a ripe avocado per smoothie.
Dairy
This is another great base to use. You can use yogurt, almond milk, keif or one of the better milks to use is coconut milk! If you are allergic to dairy then avoid it and use a different base.
Due to milk being highly processed you can always use yogurt with no added sugar instead. We add in Stevia which is a pH balanced non-caloric sweetener that will replace refined sugars. Keif and cottage cheese is another option to use.
You can use about 1/3 to 1 cup of yogurt or cottage cheese.
Nuts and Seeds
When using nuts as your base we will usually use a coffee grinder beforehand. These are an amazing base because they are so packed with nutrients. I can’t even explain how many benefits there are to use these as your base.
You can use chia seeds, flax seeds, almonds, cashews or just about any type you love. Just be sure to add in moderation. Usually 1/2 cup per smoothie is ideal.
To get that great consistency blend your nuts with liquid first, then everything else would follow.
Liquid
When it comes to making a great smoothie you need to add the appropriate amount or your smoothie will be too thin. The recommended amount is 1 to cups of liquid max.
Liquid is necessary as it helps your blender to mix the ingredients properly. Using a low end blender makes it impossible to make a smoothie without adding water. Not adding enough liquid will make your smoothie to thick.
Here are some liquids we use;
Fruits – Always try to use organic
Apples
Apricots
Acai Berry
Avocados
Bananas
Blackberries
Blueberries
Cherries
Cranberries
Grapefruit
Grapes – green and purple
Kiwi
Lemons
Mangos
Melons
Oranges
Papaya
Pineapple
Pears
Peaches
Pomegranate
Plums
Raspberries
Strawberries
Watermelon
Coconut Water
If you want to have a tropical taste to your smoothie then add some coconut water. Each coconut contains about 16 ounces of sweet, delicious water and the meat is soft like hard-boiled egg whites. You can find young coconuts at Asian Markets or certain health food stores.
Filtered Water
If you can avoid using tap water than do so. We always use filtered water which is pH balanced.
Nutritious Additives
By adding in Nutritious Additives you are making a power packed punched smoothie full of vitamins, minerals and antitoxins that your body is craving and needs.
This will give you that natural boost of energy and give your body the nutrients needed to get through the day.
By adding in some these super foods such as Chlorella or Spirulina your adding rich phytochemicals that fight disease, strengthen the immune system and contribute to your overall health and wellbeing.
Chia Seeds
Flax Seeds
Herbal Teas – Macha green tea powder
Astragalus
Goji Berries
Vegetable Greens
Sesame Seeds
Sprouts
Raw Honey
Sunflower Seeds
Wheatgrass
Supplement Powders
Chlorella
Spirulina
Flavors
By adding some of the ingredients below you can make yourself some amazing tasting smoothies.
Cacao
Cinnamon
Coffee
Eggnog
Peanut Butter
Peppermint
Sugar Substitutes such as Stevia
Vanilla
Yogurt
Enjoy your smoothies!
