Difference between SOME, SUM, SUN, and SON

What is the difference between:  SOME, SUM, SUN, and SON?


SOME and SUM are pronounced the same. The word meanings are different.


The other two words, SUN and SON, are pronounced the same. The word meanings are different.


SOME refers to an unspecified amount. SUM means the total of two amounts.

These words are pronounced with three sounds:  S-Short u-M


The SUN is the star closest to earth. SON is the male child of parents.

These words are also pronounced with three sounds: S-Short u-N

HOMOPHONES – words spelled differently but pronounced the same
