Transcript: hi there jennifer from tarle speech with another christmas pronunciation lesson our word today is poinsettia which is a christmas flower like i have right here the word has a lot of letters and i think this leads to the confusion we are going to have three syllables in this word poin sett uh and i wrote it out as well um in sounds because i know that helps some people so to say this word correctly we’re going to start with the syllable poin and to do this think of the word coin like money but we’re going to start it with a p so put your lips together for the p move to the oy by puckering your lips and then pulling them back and then end with an n by touching the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth air moves out of your nose point next move to said to do this it’s just like the word said s-a-i-d like i said that and to say this word you’re going to start with the s sound tip of the tongue is either down or behind the top front teeth air is moving out of the mouth then move to the short f sound your mouth is open and you’re going to be able to see your tongue near the top teeth between the top and the bottom teeth but a little higher in your mouth and then touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth for the d said said said and then we’re going to end with an uh it’s just the schwa sound the short u the schwa sound and to do that relaxed mouth and just very short ah put it all together poinsettia poinsettia i love a beautiful red poinsettia at christmas time give it a try people are going to notice the difference if you found this helpful like i keep saying share the joy share the christmas joy with your friends and pass this along don’t forget to subscribe if you’re looking for a great gift idea check out our products on google play itunes and our classes at tarle speech thanks everyone merry christmas

yes only four sounds in all of these words
so to say wrapped rapt and rapped correctly we’re going to start with that r sound er to say the r sound the tip of your tongue is either pointed down or flipped back it does not touch your front teeth the back of your tongue is pulled up high in your mouth your lips if you’re struggling with the sound should be in a square tense shape if they’re too puckered or too relaxed you’re not going to get the correct sound
next move to that short ah and to do that open your mouth in a wide circle this will help you to get your tongue super low in the front with the tongue pointed down and the back pulled up next close your mouth
