hello this is jennifer and from tarle speech and we have a pronunciation a question of the week the question today is how do i pronounce the word chocolate which is a delicious treat and it is also our favorite pup and what is his name chocolate he goes everywhere with us even to school even to school so to say this word correctly we are going to think about saying two beats not three i hear people say cho-co-late and we are not going to pronounce it that way we are going to say chalk lit


so to say this word correctly we’re going to start with syllable one chalk


todo this touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth for that ch sound that’s two letters that equal one sound touch the tip of your tongue and then pull it back into the middle of your mouth for that ch sound your lips are slightly rounded


move to the open oh with a wide open oval mouth tip of the tongue will be low and the back of the tongue will be pulled up


and then keep your mouth open for the k and your tongue is still low in the mouth and the air is just going to puff out so again for the k tip of the tongue is low back of the tongue is pulled up air just puffs out k

next for syllable number two lit touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth for that l llll


and then move to the short ih sound to do this you are going to think about having your tongue high and flat in your mouth but you are going to relax your lips it’s not an e it’s an ih so get your tongue in the position for the e and then relax your lips and you should be able to get in the right spot for that short i sound


and then end with the teeth by touching the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth
