Price of a Kiss by Linda Kage

Reese is a college girl, living with her aunt, uncle, and cousin in Florida, under an assumed name, to escape from a nightmare. She’d been assaulted by her high school boyfriend, Jeremy; and because his dad is an influential attorney in their Illinois hometown, the BF is out of jail and threatening to kill her. Reese is grateful to her cousin, Eva, who has taken her under her wing and is helping her adjust to her new life in her new hometown.

It doesn’t take long for Reese to spot the hunkiest guy on campus, who also happens to be well-known for his infamous career as “gigolo.” Reese doesn’t understand why Mason would do anything so degrading, but they become “friends only.” Reese defends Mason, feels a genuine and deep attraction for him, but she won’t allow herself to “go there.”

Another twist to the story! Reese needs a job, and she spots an ad for a babysitter. She accepts the job over the phone and is surprised to discover that the young girl she'll be babysitting is lovely twelve year Sarah, who has cerebral palsy. She also surprised to find out that Sarah is Mason’s younger sister. Reese falls in love with Sarah and becomes more than just a babysitter. She becomes Sarah's friend, draws her out of her shell, and plans a wonderful birthday party that becomes one of the happiest days of Sarah’s life.
Mason is just as shocked when he comes home after "work" and learns that Reese is his little sister’s babysitter. Mason is hot for Reese, too, but he knows his job as a gigolo is the barrier that will keep them “just friends.”

I know all of this sounds a bit hard to grasp, but I truly loved the story. The characters were appealing, and I felt strong compassion for all of them, even Eva, who made some bad choices. The story line of Sarah was touching, not sappy, and added a depth and dimension of compassion that made it all real to me.

The sexy flow and “tease,” from the first meeting of Reese and Mason, was hot and tantalizing. I loved this sexy and “intensely white hot” read from beginning to end, and the heartwarming touch made it perfect!

DEAD LOVE: Free on Kindle July 23-July 27, 2016

"A tightly-plotted, satisfying mystery-thriller." -Kirkus Reviews

"Wells delivers a debut thriller about a biological attack, the people determined to stop it and the woman at the heart of it all.

The novel provides copious, frankly intimate scenes of the two lovers, but with a residual prudence-

Wells never misses an opportunity to include eloquent details throughout the story; meals, in particular, lovingly itemize foods in a manner that will likely induce hunger pangs.

The story is a swift read-chapters average less than four pages each-and a shocking scene near the end draws the story to a worthy denouement." -Kirkus Reviews
