Taking Responsibility

Here’s to the power of taking responsibility ~ Jill Badonsky
If you follow me, you understand how much I try to pass along that everyone owns their goals, their own outcomes. Lately, this concept of having the answer for my life inside myself has come to light.
You might have noticed I’ve been a bit quite since about the middle of December. Lots has been happening. My third novel was released the beginning of December, then I got real sick. I know, I know…I probably caused the severity of it by not going to the doctor sooner, but lesson learned.
Then, of course, the holidays became my excuse for not writing or sharing on the blog. In January, responsibilities at the day job, as well as illness, overwhelmed me.
The last couple of weeks, my responsibility in all of this has become more apparent to me. I know that I am in control of destiny, attaining my vision to be a full-time writer. This week, I am taking the first of many baby steps to get back into the same routines that have helped me achieve my goals in the past. For me this also means setting some boundaries (even though I’d like to write Saturday’s and Sunday’s blog post this day, I need to stop for the night and relax) and also reaching out to some friends for support.
I have the answers and only I can take responsibility for my dreams and goals!
Have you had a recent revelation about responsibility along your dream journey? I’d love to hear!

Rainbow Snippets: A Place to Call Their Own

“Six miles beyond them, two bachelors were living in one house. They had taken two farms, and built the house on the line between them…they cooked and ate together in the middle of the house.”— Laura Ingalls Wilder, Little House on the Prairie
Frank Greerson figured his words would clear his parents’ dining room that morning, and they did. The family scattered like a nest of mice found by a fox in a field. His mother herded her grandchildren and their dishes into the kitchen. His sister-in-law cleared the adults’ dishes and escorted his sister out of the room.

Rainbow Snippets - Need Your Love

Here's a snippet of my latest novel, Need Your Love!
As the representative of his Uncle George’s immediate
family, Eron sat in the first pew on George’s wedding day. Thirty-two
and a successful lawyer, Eron should have had his pick of
the women from their pursuit of him. Reluctant to share too much
about himself, his gut instinct to remain distant often ignored the
resulting loneliness.

2016 Resolutions - What Are Yours?

Here’s to having a fresh view take you by surprise ~ Jill Badonsky
I’m a bit late, but it’s my first post of the year! That means I need to share my resolutions for the year. If you’ve kept up with me the last few years, you know how important I think that resolutions are. Even though I can look back on many of these posts and see that I didn’t achieve what I set out to do, there are plenty of New Year’s Resolutions that I accomplished. Some of them include:
Quitting smoking in 1997Going back to school to complete my undergrad degree in 1998Finishing writing A Place to Call Their Own in 2012Writing Disappear With Me in 2012Publishing 3 titles in 2015 (although 2 of them were 2nd editions…LOL)
So, in the spirit of both writing goals and sharing them, here are my writing goals for 2016:
Write 3 complete novels and submit them to publishersStart a fourth by the end of the year.Self publish Disappear With Me when my rights revert on March 31, 2016Be more consistent with promotion
What are you working on in 2016? I’d love to hear!

Dedication:
For Tina, whose love and devotion to me surpasses my writing career and encompasses most parts of my life. Thank you for taking me under your wing and helping me make Need Your Love the story it was meant to be.
Acknowledgements:
My husband always tops the list of acknowledgements. Thanks to his ongoing support, and sometimes taking on extra chores around the house so I can write or edit, Need Your Love is finished today.
My number one beta readers are my mom and dad. Extra thanks to Dad this time, first of all for proofreading gay sex scenes. Dad also helped out with much of the information needed to make the golf scenes authentic. Becky Condit rounds out a list of much appreciated beta readers this go around.
The House of Manlove Critique group has been a huge influence in the development of my writing over the last two years. While I didn’t send this manuscript through the weekly critique system, I tried to apply much of what I have learned from them on other projects. A few of the members beta read the first version of this novel and helped me shape it into the version you read today. In alphabetical order: Genna Donaghy, J.T. Hall, Skye Jones, Jon Keys, Kate Lowell, Chris McHart, Jenna Wade, and Heloise West.
And once again, a huge thanks to everyone at JMS Books, LLC for their support of this novel and my writing career.
Blurb
In June, 1966, ACLU attorney Eron Lassiter attends his uncle’s wedding, and makes an unsettling discovery. Though he’d bowed to family pressure and has a potential marriage planned, his long-ignored attraction to other men roars to life when Garrett Emerson, the bride’s nephew, captures his attention.
After serving in the Korean War and going to college later than his peers, upwardly mobile Garrett is a loan officer at a local bank. For his girlfriend, fiancé in her mind, he can’t climb fast enough. But none of that matters to Eron, and maybe that’s why Garrett’s so drawn to him.
Can Eron and Garrett find happiness amidst the still pervasive culture of propriety, honor, and expectation in the 1960s?
You can also pre-order from Amazon and it will be delivered to your Kindle on December 6!

Need Your Love

I am elated beyond measure to have signed a contact today with JMS Books! My third novel, I wrote the first draft of Need Your Love last summer about this time and worked on editing and polishing it since then. This is my first romance that crosses the barrier from sweet stories into the full-on, explicit descriptions of man on man sex.
Here's a little bit more about Need Your Love:
In June, 1966, ACLU attorney Eron Lassiter attends his uncle’s wedding, and makes an unsettling discovery. Though he’d bowed to family pressure and has a potential marriage planned, his long-ignored attraction to other men roars to life when Garrett Emerson, the bride’s nephew, captures his attention.

Can Eron and Garrett find happiness amidst the still pervasive culture of propriety, honor, and expectation in the 1960s?
Need Your Love is also the first novel that I wrote as a standalone title. I do not plan to write any sequels with these characters.
Check out my Pinterest board for some inspiring images.
In the meantime, my first two novels are available:
