Let it snow

It's been a while since I've posted on my blog, and I promise I'll endeavor to update more often once I am in a place where I have a stable internet connection. But for now, I'd like to share with you a little of my adventure. Yep. Still in Canada. Still working at a ski resort. It's getting to that point in the season where everything is.... slush, for lack of a better word. The snow is melting. I can't go snowboarding because I'm terrified to board when it's so icy. But spring is in the air, and I must say, I am so excited for the sun. In 2 weeks, I will be moving on from the beautiful Kananaskis Country in Alberta. I head to New York for a few days - It's my dream to live the Carrie Bradshaw life and be an author in the wonderful city of NY - just as a little post-work holiday. And then... well, let's leave that for later. As for my books, I am in the final process of completing Embers & Ice. Trust me when I say you'd be better off waiting, because as far as I'm concerned, it still needs work. But I am mega-excited about the reaction of those that loved Rouge, and I simply cannot wait to release it. So for now, it's au revoir and until next time. Peace XX

GIVEAWAY

Hey all,

I'm hosting a giveaway for the release of Embers & Ice. Check it out on Goodreads. There are 2 advanced reading copies available, both signed by me. Please feel free to enter!

On a less book-related note, I am still in Canada and still having the time of my life. It's difficult to write when there's so much to see and do here, but the inspiration is there and the support I've received for the release of E&I (soon to be dated) is unbelievable.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Cover Reveal: EMBERS & ICE

It's finally time for me to release the cover for the second book in the Rouge trilogy: 'Embers & Ice'. I am SO excited about this cover, because the buzz for the amazing design of Rouge was so high that I can only hope my readers love it just as much.

I thought I'd release it here on my own blog before it goes out into the blogosphere, and though the release date for the official novel hasn't been announced yet, I know that the cover will get everyone excited in the meantime!

I'd also like to say a huge thank you to Renu Sharma, my fantastic cover artist, for producing a beautiful piece of art that I am so proud of.

So without further ado, here is the cover for my second novel, EMBERS & ICE.

Joshua is a mess. Frantically trying to fix the mistakes he made, Joshua embarks on a quest across the country to find Hunter and rescue her. But the company he keeps is continuously distracting him, and Joshua can’t control the strange feelings of love and comfort that begin to boil inside his cold, icy heart.

Will Hunter escape and find her fire again, or will Joshua and his mistakes find her first?

I'm finally here!

Hey fellow bloggers and readers alike,

I'm finally here, in Vancouver, at the beginning of my second big life adventure: a working holiday. After a very long flight, I made it with my heavy suitcase to my hostel, and since then I have been having the time of my life meeting amazing people, exploring this amazing city (with too many homeless people) and enjoying the actually fairly nice weather.

I have a few more days to shop, get everything organized, and then it's off to Nakiska Resort in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. I actually cannot explain my excitement (mostly to see now) and I will try to keep updated on my adventures, yay!!

For now, here's a few pictures of some cool sights I saw today:

(that, by the way, is the front of the Daily Planet from Smallville!!!)

(bought myself some snow gear already, yay!)

Oh, Canada!

This is more of a random 'Dear Diary' moment than anything related to my book, but what the hell. It freshens things up :)

So it's now thirteen days until I depart on my next grand adventure. This time, I am doing things a little differently, and my main county of origin will be the beautifully freezing cold Canada. I am departing on the 13th of October to Vancouver, where I will be spending a week stocking up on winter woolies and snow gear before catching a train to a place called Kananaskis outside Calgary in Alberta on the edge of the Rocky Mountains, where I will be working full time in a resort called Nakiska.

I am so excited/nervous/freaking out about this trip, mainly because I've never been in a place so cold and I'm not sure I'm prepared, but also because it will be for 6 months work in a resort I've never been to in a country on the other side of the world.

So why do it?

I'm looking for another adventure. Another challenge. My last trip was with my best friend. We conquered Europe and some neighboring countries, but it was easy as cake because I had someone with me to share the experience, laugh when things got crazy and be with when I was lonely. This time, I'm on my own. Sure, I'm excited to make friends and get to know my fellow Aussie workmates, but it won't be the same, and that's what I'm looking forward to. Putting myself in a completely different situation. And all I have to rely on is myself. And God, of course.

At least I will still have my books to dive into when I get homesick or just want a moment of escape. But I'm still beyond excited and I have no idea what I'm walking - or in this case, flying - into and I just hope that it works out for the best.

Wish me luck, and Bon Voyage!

Happy One Month Anniversary!

Holy Blonde Cheerleader Batman. I can't believe it's already been a month since my book was released OFFICIALLY!

This month has flown by. I have had some incredible support from people, and sold more copies that I could have dreamed in such a short time. And I have never been more thankful, so for everyone who read my book, bought my book, reviewed my book, or even so much as looked at it and thought 'hmm, that looks nice', I want to say a GIGANTICLY HUMUNGOUS THANK YOU!! If I could send you all a box of goodies, believe me, I would.

So here's to many more months of Rouge kicking off, and I hope I can look back on this first month in a years time and say 'yep. I did good' :)

Peace XX

FIRESTARTER

I Literally just found out that Stephen King wrote a book like mine called 'Firestarter', published in 1980. Now I'm a little stunned (and slightly annoyed with myself).

Since I started selling my books, I've received comments from older readers (by that I mean adults) who say 'Yes, it sounds very much like a Stephen King book.' Honestly, I thought that was just a comment about my writing. I was completely overjoyed that people were comparing me to Stephen King. I mean seriously, Stephen King. No freaking way am I that good a writer. I knew it was too good to be true, because it turns out they were just comparing the story to his story.

At work tonight, someone mentioned Firestarter. At the name, I instantly panicked, the way every author does when they discover their book has already been done AFTER they publish it themselves and spend 2 years writing it. I swear to anyone who reads this, right now, I had never heard of Stephen King's book Firestarter. I've read some of his bigger ones - The Shinning, Carrie, Cujo, etc - but I'd never known this book existed until tonight.

On the one hand, I'm ecstatic because I now have a book to compare it to when someone asks 'what book is it like?' Mention Stephen King and I'm golden. But on the other hand.... will people judge me and say 'Urgh, she totally just copied his book and made it into her own'?

I suppose I shouldn't be worried. I mean how many Fifty Shades look-alikes are there out in stores at the moment? How many Hunger Games-type dystopian sagas are there? Do I even need mention the vampire novels?

And, if I had to go along the lines of another book, why not a Stephen King masterpiece? Now, all that's left to do I suppose is to get myself a copy of Firestarter :)

(Oh my God, I just Googled it and there's a movie with Drew Barrymore!!! So watching that as well. Hooray!)
