Today at Close I have a very special author with me that has wrote an amazingly enchanting book. I truly can’t believe this is her first work!! I had to know: What makes M/M so hot? Because it is, hands down. This is what Temp had to say: What Makes M/M Hot?…

…This book will definitely take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. I would love to read another book by this author! It is definitely a top pick. My only regret is that I cannot give this book more than 5 spiders!! I do hope the author returns to write about Chase. I see a swarthy bodyguard in his possible future..lol!!

Excerpt

“JAMES,” Seth said, placing his other hand on James’s lower back. Exerting gentle pressure, he steered James away from the front doors, toward the office. He was desperate to leave, but couldn’t bring himself to pull away from the warmth and strength of Seth’s hands.

“Take a deep breath.” Seth’s soft command offered shelter. He found himself doing just that as Seth guided him into a chair. Seth took his crutches from him and leaned them against the desk.

James struggled to calm down and not do anything else to embarrass himself. His gaze flicked repeatedly to the door, as he was afraid Victor might follow like Seth had. In his mind he knew he was safe, but he’d be damned if the rest of him wanted to listen.

Seth placed a cold bottle of water in James’s hand, giving him something to clutch other than his own fingers. “Drink, slowly,” he instructed.

Without thinking, he followed Seth’s directions, grateful for the sanctuary and care. He wasn’t sure why, but Seth’s take-control way of handling him soothed his frayed psyche in a way he hadn’t expected—and wasn’t sure he wanted to like.

Seth didn’t say anything for a long time. He just continued to keep physical contact with James, his hand on his shoulder. He didn’t exert pressure or move in any way but left it there for comfort and support.

“Feel better?” Seth asked once James’s breathing had returned to almost normal.

With a nod, James replied, “Yes. Sorry about that. Um, is he—why is he here?” James knew it was probably a stupid question, but he didn’t care. Moving away from that warm, strong hand would hurt too, though.

“Vic? I don’t know what your problem is with each other, but he’s the assistant foreman for the construction crew working here. He’s an ass, but I’ve never seen him look like that, nor have I seen anyone react to him as you did.” He waited but didn’t ask why James had panicked, although James was sure he was dying to.

“I need to get my things and leave, Mr. Burns. If this is his workplace then it’s me that needs to go. I will be happy to meet you at your office or mine, if you’d rather. I apologize for my behavior and hope you won’t hold it against me or Skye Designs,” James said. He sat up straight and tried to regain at least a little of his lost dignity.

“I will agree, for now, with moving this to my office. Are you up for an afternoon meeting and presentation?” Seth inquired.

“Yes, sir,” James said, sounding a bit more calm and like his usual self.

“I expect to see you at three o’clock sharp.” They spoke for a few more minutes, until he was able to convince Seth it was safe to allow him to drive. Seth returned his crutches and walked him to his car, then insisted he would have one of his people transfer the presentation materials to his office for their meeting. Seth only stepped away from James as James settled into his car.

After a quick call to Chase to let him know he’d be out of the office the rest of the day, James went home, lay down on the couch, curled his knees up to his chest, and tried to get through the rest of his panic and pain. He hadn’t seen Victor since the cops removed him from James’s old apartment, two years ago, having gone so far as to change many of the places he frequented in the hopes of never seeing the man again. And now? Now he may have lost the best account he’d ever had because of that damn man.

Moreland’s Beach

Reblogged from Thorny, Not Prickly  imageKind

I’ve decided to make the painting I did of the photo Mores took available as a print. I’m calling it “Moreland’s Beach” and it’s available via ImageKind. There are all kinds of different options, if you want a copy. I know some of them are pretty expensive, but my markup is only 20%; I’m not offering this for any huge profit.

Tempeste O’Riley’s Debut Novel "Designs of Desire" Is An All Around Success

Sometimes you have to start over to have a happy ending. – Sonya Parker

It is hard to believe this is Tempeste O’Riley’s first published book. The characters of Seth and James were very well rounded and believable. James has lived through so much hell in his life that I am amazed he was still standing. Seth has had much success in his life but has not found “the one” until he meets James.

Guest Author Wednesdays ♥ Tali Spencer

Hello everyone. Today I’m thrilled to have Romance Author Tali Spencer stop by. She’s got a great post on humor, unicorn horns used for self pleasuring, and her new novel… even a wonderful excerpt from Thick as Thieves! Don’t forget to leave her a little love below!

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Tali Spencer fell in love with writing at an early age and never stopped. Thanks to a restless father, she grew up as a bit of a nomad and still loves to travel whenever she can. Her longest stint in one place was Milwaukee where she went to college and enjoyed a series of interesting careers including respiratory therapist, airport executive, and raising three surprisingly well-adjusted sons. She later married her true love and put down new roots in Philadelphia, where she lives in an ongoing Italian American family sitcom. At least she’s learned how make good pasta. When not writing, Tali reads everything from sweet goofy romances to Lebanese cookbooks, manages her fantasy football team—go Gekkos!—and takes long walks with her loving, if slightly neurotic, poodle.

No Fun At All

As an oldest child of a truly eccentric family, I grew up being called “the serious one.” My sister was “the pretty one” so you know how that played out. I was kind of serious, and still am to a degree. I am easily one of the most gullible people on the planet simply because I do take people seriously. But if you go to my family and ask if I have a sense of humor, each and every one of them will say, “Heck no. She’s serious as a heart attack.”

Now I never fully bought into the notion that I somehow lacked a sense of humor. I knew I had one. Mine was just so cleverly concealed and impossible to detect that I might as well not even attempt to trot it out. I was so convinced I didn’t know how to tell a joke or get people to laugh that I pretty much stopped trying. Serious is easier anyway. I didn’t even attempt humor in fiction because I feared I might not be able to pull it off. It was bad enough my jokes fell flat; I didn’t want to risk that with my fiction. So I wrote safe, serious books that played to what I perceived as my strong suits: world-building and imagination.

When I began selling books it was wonderful and a great boost to my confidence. So was marrying a man who actually found me amusing. Funny, even. I also found some friends who laughed at my jokes. Maybe I could do funny! Maybe all I’d ever really lacked was a receptive audience.

A group of writers invited me to join their Wednesday Briefs. For my first story there, I decided to take a risk. I would write something funny! I completely threw away my inhibitions and put down 1000 words about Vorgell, a brawny barbarian who fucks himself in the ass with a unicorn horn and becomes so horny he can barely see straight when he’s thrown into a cell with a pretty male witch. Imagine my surprise when my blog readers loved it… and every week I put more of Vorgell’s adventures with Madd, his pretty male witch, more readers joined in. How could I not keep writing that story?

And that’s how Thick as Thieves was born. The novel delivers more than laughs, of course. I’m still a serious and rather dark writer at heart. But without a doubt—Thick as Thieves is the funniest book I’ve written. So far.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Thick as Thieves

After Vorgell the barbarian fucks himself with a unicorn horn, he ends up in a cell with Maddog, a pretty young thief. It’s lust at first sight for Vorgell—but honestly, he can’t help it. Unicorn horn is a potent aphrodisiac, and now he can’t stop thinking about sex. Luckily, Madd is one male witch who knows how to put Vorgell’s new magical body to good use when he tricks Vorgell into a kiss that helps them escape.

Vorgell may desire sex in general—and Madd in particular—but Madd has no intention of being screwed by a man twice his size. He has problems of his own, including an enchanted collar that causes him to desire his most hated enemy. He wants that collar off as soon as possible, but that requires stealing a basilisk egg from the castle they just escaped.

Drawn together by lust and magic, the two men join forces and soon find themselves up to their necks in witches, wizards, and trouble. Vorgell and Madd might just be perfect for each other, but first they have to survive long enough to find out.

Excerpt

Madd frowned, his dark gaze traveling down Vorgell’s body and taking in his state of undress. “I guess we’ll have to find you some clothes.”

Vorgell liked that idea. “You could just hand me your cloak.”

“No!” Madd clutched the garment closed at the throat. “We’ll… find you something else.” He sighed. “You don’t get it, do you? We need to disappear. You consumed an entire unicorn horn, and—”

“And I’m horny all the time now. I know.” As if to confirm that point, Vorgell’s cock twitched and plumped at the sight of his companion. Even wrapped in shadows and with a water stain from the puddle on his ass, Madd was bewitching. Vorgell’s blood warmed just to look at him. “But I don’t see what that has to do with—”

“Are you really so gods-addled clueless? A mere sliver of unicorn horn makes a man horny for days. You consumed the entire horn! You filled your gargantuan body with so much fucking unicorn magic you’re now a walking, talking reservoir of enchantment! And you’re not a magician, are you? You’re like a toad sitting on gold coins! You can’t get rid of your pot of gold because you don’t know how to use it!”

Vorgell blinked at the little guy’s rage, struggling to see past the fact that Madd looked unbearably cute when he gestured and paced and sputtered. So cute Vorgell wanted to push him against the moldy wall and silence him with kisses while he pushed his cock against that delectable, lithe body. He fought to keep focus as his cock stiffened to full engorgement.

“I can do magic?”

Madd rolled his eyes. “No. You fucking are magic. Like a unicorn. Your blood, your bones, every living part of you, is filled with the shit.” He sighed. “Why the hell do you think I bit you in the tower, except to get at the magic? Or sucked your cock just now? Which, by the way,” he added, “I don’t plan on doing regularly.”

“But you’re good at it. And, well, I thought—” But then he realized he hadn’t been thinking for some days. It was time to start doing it. “So you are using me?”

Madd looked him in the eye. “Yes. And you’re fortunate in that. Because although I’m not a particularly good magician, I’m much more ethical than the baron or his like. Or any of the Wizards’ Guild. That lot would be bleeding you by now and amputating toes to suck on for a little extra spell power.”

Vorgell considered this. He distrusted magic users. He also knew a thing or two about unscrupulous men and could be one himself when the situation demanded. He hadn’t carried Madd away from their prison out of gratitude, but for purposes of ravishment. The latter still sounded like a good idea.

Luc’s Prince: A Feline Alien Tells All

An Interview with Izzorah Ceeow (as told to Kayelle Allen)

Izzorah Ceeow is a Kin, a feline humanoid with catlike ears and eyes, claws hidden beneath human nails, and the ability to smell emotions. He’s been in two books of mine, Surrender Love, and Forbid My Heart. In this exclusive interview, he answers my questions about how he met the human Luc Saint-Cyr. (Shh, don’t tell Izzorah, because he’ll find out in my upcoming book Surrender Trust, but Luc isn’t really human. He’s an immortal — and so is Izzorah. He just doesn’t know yet.) Luc calls him "Rah" which means passion.

Kayelle:          Thanks for talking to me today, Izzorah. Do you mind telling us how you met Luc?

Izzorah:          But, you know how. You wrote all about us in your book.

Kayelle:          That’s true, but this is a special situation. Remember I explained that others would read about your story who haven’t read the book yet? This is for them.

Izzorah:          But why don’t you just tell them? Why are you asking me? You know, don’t you? I don’t understand.

Kayelle:          *sigh* This is something humans do, Izzorah. Sorry. Besides, I’d like to hear it from you. Okay?

Izzorah:          *lays back his ears and sneezes like a cat* Okay. *mumbles something about humans and the word strange* We met at his office.

Kayelle:          Where was that?

Izzorah:          But you know whe—

Kayelle:          Rah, just go with it, all right?

Izzorah:          *sneezes again* Fine. It was in Tarth City. I’d just come back from a big tour, and we were supposed to sign up with Lucsondis, the company Luc owns.

Kayelle:          You mean you and the group Kumwhatmay were there, right?

Izzorah:          But you kno– oh, never mind. Yes. Kory and the other guys were there. They didn’t know yet that I liked guys. I’d hidden how I felt, because on my homeworld being gay is punishable by death. They were human and probably wouldn’t have cared, but a lot of the group’s fans were Kin, like me. I didn’t want to lose us fans.

Kayelle:          This is good. Go on. Tell us about the moment you met Luc.

Izzorah:          *brings his ears forward and purrs* Back then, my eyes were still damaged, and I couldn’t see very well, not like now. Luc helped me get my sight back. But then, all I could tell was that another male had entered the room. Luc’s scent wasn’t like most men. He has a unique combination — like chocolate which is how Kin can tell a person is full of despair, usually. Luc had a bit of mint there as well — which is amusement. Most people can’t have lost hope and yet be entertained. It made my ears stand right up.

Kayelle:          So you were surprised by the way his emotions combined?

Izzorah:          Yeah. And he was full of romtzeet. You humans call it testosterone. More than any guy I’ve ever met. He smelled so good I wanted to lick the air when he walked into the room. Those three scents together were just amazing.

Kayelle:          He introduced himself to you, didn’t he?

Izzorah:          Oh yeah. *he pauses, and laughs* He said, "Welcome to Tarth," and then started stammering. He completely lost his train of thought, and just stared at me while he shook my hand. In fact, he took it both of his and just stood there, looking into my eyes. I started blushing, cause I was sure the guys in Kumwhatmay were going to figure out that I liked him, and he suddenly let go. He welcomed me to Tarth again and then realized he’d already said that and corrected himself. *grins* He was adorable being all flustered and confused. And he smelled wonderful. I knew I’d made him happy, and that made my entire day.

Kayelle:          You had an accident later that day and were badly injured, and ended up in the hospital. What happened when Luc heard about it?

Izzorah:          That’s the most amazing part. After Kumwhatmay finished the signing and we all went back to the hotel, I started daydreaming about Luc. I’d always had this fantasy of having a warrior who’d fall in love with me, and I wondered if Luc was the one. So I kind of wished for a sign that would prove if he was.

Kayelle:          What was your wish?

Izzorah:          That if Luc was my warrior, he’d rescue me. I didn’t know what from, really. I wasn’t in danger. My life, maybe. I wasn’t happy, because I was alone, but I was successful. I wanted someone to love and to love me.

Kayelle:          And what happened?

Izzorah:          Luc heard that I’d been injured and needed blood. He was with my aunt, who works for him, and he brought her to the hospital. But my blood type was too rare. She couldn’t donate to me. Luc could though. He’s a universal donor. He saved my life.

Kayelle:          So he rescued you?

Izzorah:          *blushing* Yeah, he did. A few days later, he rescued me again when there was an issue with my passport. That was just some clerical error, but until Luc got there, I was in danger of being arrested and deported, and he put a stop to it. To make sure I was legal, the authorities did a big check on my background, and they said Luc had to take custody of me. So I had to live in his house. I’d never been so happy to be in trouble in my life.

Kayelle:          And that led to another entire adventure, didn’t it?

Izzorah:          *grins widely* What happened next is really what your whole book is about!

Kayelle:          Right you are. Tell me about the jewelry you’re wearing.

Izzorah:          *touches the gems against his forehead* This is a krona. In my language it’s similar to a crown, but it’s also what males wear when they’re married to the tzesar, the warrior and ruler of their clan.

Kayelle:          What does it mean?

Izzorah:          *beaming a sweet smile* It means Luc is my warrior.

Kayelle:          And…?

Izzorah:          *biggest smile yet, with a bright blush* And I am Luc’s prince.

Surrender Love (a Tarthian Empire story)

Not rebound, payback, loneliness, or great sex, and far beyond love. This is surrender.

In the beds of countless lovers, the immortal Luc Saint-Cyr has been mastered as well as master, commanded as well as commander. When his mortal lover leaves him, the distraught Luc withdraws and devotes himself to work. His entertainment company throws a ceremony for their most successful rock group, and Luc meets drummer Izzorah "Rah" Ceeow, one of the feline Kin race. Rah’s dark hair and velvety, golden furskin captivate Luc. Pert cat’s ears and a quick smile lighten his mood, and one look into Rah’s emerald eyes, deep and tranquil as a forest pool, and troubles cease.

He suspects the mid-twenties male is a virgin, and Luc, fascinated by Rah’s quiet serenity and lack of guile, longs for a deeper, closer relationship. Savoring Rah’s surrender will be as delicious as taking him. Luc will force nothing. Rah will give himself to Luc when he is ready to surrender his innocence, to capitulate every part of himself to Luc’s command. Rah will open himself and let himself be taken. Luc’s anticipation and desire are palpable; as real as his hunger for faithful, unconditional love. But to gain Rah, Luc is going to have to surrender himself.

Luc is immortal. He has the perspective to understand his lover’s concerns and not worry about them. To distract Izzorah, Luc tries a sexy game of dominance and submission played during their shared shower. Izzorah’s unreserved trust and respect make Luc long to wipe out any shadow of trouble or sorrow. He would turn the Kin homeworld upside down to protect him, but convincing Izzorah he can do it will mean confessing a truth Luc is not yet ready to share.
