SATISFACTION (CLUB X #4)

Satisfaction

The fourth and last book in the Club X series, Satisfaction, will be released in July 2015.  I’m so excited about this release! All three Club X brothers–Cassian, Stefan, and Kane–will all have their stories wrapped up, so you know what that means…

HEAs all around!

Every hero and heroine will have a part in the book, so it’s going to be a full story. When I have the blurb ready, I’ll be sure to post it, but until then, just know that each couple will have challenges to overcome on their way to their happy endings.

For the most up-to-date information on this and all my books, be sure to sign up for my newsletter in the upper right hand corner of the page!

SILK Serial Release Schedule Changes

Silk Announcement Graphic

I’ve alluded to a family situation I’m dealing with to readers on Facebook, hoping to keep the schedule for the SILK volume releases the same, but within the past few days I’ve had to admit there would be no way to keep the third and fourth volumes at their April and May release dates. There’s just too much we’ll all be dealing with, especially in April, so instead I’ve chosen to release SILK Volumes Two, Three, and Four all on March 19. I think this is the best way to ensure the books are released and I can attend to the things going on in my personal life.

So Ian and Kristina’s story will be complete on March 19 instead of May 19. For readers who don’t like to wait, I guess this is good news. :)

The price of each book will still be just $.99 during the preorder period (going on now at Amazon, B&N, iBooks, and Kobo) and for the first three days of release, so readers will be able to get their copy at the sale price until March 21.

Thanks to everyone who’s expressed their concern and support for me during this time. I appreciate it so much.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat–If Only

My assistant sent me a review of SILK Volume One today for me to look at. She does that occasionally with reviews she thinks I should see. (I don’t read reviews unless she sends me them, so anyone hoping to convey something to me through a review should email me directly instead. And please know I always answer back.) Below is the review verbatim:

I loved the Heart of Stone series so much I began to follow KM. The first Club X was great but you lost me after that. Still I read on and now I must say enough. K M has a multitude of followers so she won’t miss this one. I guess I need more plot and less intimacy, yes it was stated before I clicked so no fault there. This is a well thought out and a great read if that is for you! Still a complete five stars plus for Heart of Stone Trilogy.

I won’t bother going into the fact that I included a very clear warning about what the SILK serial is and how it’s more erotic than my other books. I also won’t go into the fact that the book she reviewed is the FIRST OF FOUR BOOKS in this serial and therefore just the beginning. Neither of those issues are what I’m talking about today.

Love Heart Black Background WallpaperTo this reviewer and others like her, I say thank you very much for loving the Heart of Stone series. I love Tristan and Nina’s story just like you do. I truly do. And for you, I wish I could write that series over and over. But I can’t.

It’s interesting that the reviewer seems to think that there wasn’t enough plot in the Club X series. Three brothers, all with their own stories, and the women they fall hard for, also with their own back stories and characterization. A non-romantic side plot (just like the Heart of Stone series, by the way) that threatens all their happily ever afters. The only real difference between the two series is that the Heart of Stone revolved around one couple and Club X revolved around three.

I get emails from fans of the Club X series all the time, and when we get to talking about my books and I mention the Heart of Stone series, they’re generally nice but not as enthusiastic as Heart of Stone fans are about Tristan and Nina’s story. When I ask why, they routinely tell me that series just wasn’t sexy enough. And the opposite is true for some Heart of Stone fans with the Club X series.  See a pattern here? And for those readers who find me because of the SILK serial, Tristan and Nina’s story will possibly be entirely too sweet for them if they loved the eroticism of Ian and Kristina’s story in SILK.

latherrinserepeat2The reality is that I wish I could just be a Lather, Rinse, Repeat author. My job would be infinitely easier. Believe me. I wish I could just write the same story over and over and make people happy. I confess sometimes when people are asking for more of the same story I secretly envy those writers who can do this. I think to myself how great would it be to find something that makes tons of money and then just do it over and over? The problem is that I’m not that type of author. I write the stories my characters tell me, and while Tristan and Nina are permanent residents inside my head, their story has basically been told. Yes, there are other parts of it still untold, but they don’t seem to want me to write those since they aren’t talking to me about them. Without them talking to me, there is no story for me to write.

So to this reviewer who thought SILK Volume One was a well thought out and great read and any readers who still wish for me to write another book like the Heart of Stone series, I say again: Thanks for loving Tristan and Nina and I’m sorry I can’t write that story again for you. You see, I write the stories that my characters tell me and right now, I don’t have characters like Tristan and Nina telling me another story like the Heart of Stone. That each story is different isn’t something I regret, though. This is the kind of writer I am. I promise my readers to write the best stories I have in me, but I can’t promise they’ll all be Tristan and Nina.

And to this reviewer and anyone else who would like more plot and less sexiness, I have my Sons of Navarus series under my Gabrielle Bisset name that’s quite heavy on plot and a bit less erotic than SILK and Club X. It’s paranormal, but it’s got what you want. What it isn’t is the Heart of Stone series.

SILK–COMING FEBRUARY 19!

SILK serial release promo

★★★★★★PRE-ORDER NOW★★★★★★

‪‎SILK‬ Volumes 1 & 2 NOW for ONLY $0.99!!

The SILK serial begins this week, and I can’t wait for readers to get their hands on Ian and Kristina’s story! More erotic than many of my other books, SILK is a story of addiction

and obsession, both sexually and non-sexually. Ian and Kristina are flawed and broken, and their story is one of mad and desperate love.

I want her. I crave her. She’s my addiction.

The world knows me as Ian Anwell, New York Times bestselling author, but Kristina makes me want more.

Much more.

I need him. I love him. He’s my obsession.

Everyone thinks they know Kristina Richards, but I’m more than what they see on the screen.

So much more.

I’m his muse, and this is our story.

Each month on the 19th from February through May, a new volume will release and it will be just $.99 for the first three days (readers can make sure to get the sale price by preordering), so don’t miss it!

Possession

Possession

Since the release of Possession, I’ve had a number of emails and messages from readers upset about Kane’s story. I had hoped the letter to readers I included at the end of the book would help, but it seems something more needs to be said. So I’m saying it.

I write what my characters tell me. If this seems odd, I don’t know what else to say. That’s my process. They come to me and that’s how I learn their story. Then I tell it. Does it please me when the story isn’t as happy as I’d hoped? No. But I don’t feel I should force an ending that doesn’t fit with my characters.

Some people aren’t happy with who they found out Kane was. To those people, I can’t really respond. They didn’t know who he was since he was such a mystery in Temptation and Surrender. If the Kane character didn’t turn out to be who they wanted him to be, all I can say is he’s no stranger to being something different than what others want him to be.

Some people aren’t happy that Kane’s story was left unresolved. I can’t do anything about that without disrespecting the character. To be honest, it’s not a cliffhanger. A cliffhanger would have left the reader with Kane gone from the scene and Abbi not being able to find him. As it is, Kane is acting very much in his character at the end of Possession. He’s someone who has never been enough (in his mind) for the people he most wanted to love him, so is it so surprising he doubts his ability to be who he needs to be for Abbi now? And can we all remember each character knows where the other is. No one’s lost as sea, and no one is in danger of dying.

Satisfaction

And even more, I’ve repeatedly said that Satisfaction would tie up the Club X series, so why would a non-ending surprise anyone? Stefan didn’t get an HEA. The best that can be said for Cassian is that he got a Happy For Now (HFN). Fiction REQUIRES conflict. Without it, there is no story. What exactly would I be writing about in Satisfaction if everyone was happy at the end of Possession?

Some people think Abbi isn’t the right heroine for Kane. To that I say everyone is welcome to their opinion, but I disagree. After spending all that time with the two of them, I can’t imagine another woman making him as happy as she made him. Kane is a strong, Alpha male who loves protecting people, especially women. It’s what makes him heroic even though he’s got so many faults. The reason he would never be with Shay, who some people thought he would end up with in Possession, is she’s too much like him. Kane needs to be a savior. His past feeds this need, so if someone thinks he should be with a much stronger woman, they don’t understand the character.

Someone said that they didn’t think Possession was worth the money. The book is over 300 pages in print and over 80K words long. It has tremendous character development, action, great sex, and a story that resonates with readers. It’s been professionally edited and proofread, and it’s a professional presentation of my work. If all that’s not worth a few bucks, then I have nothing to say to that person. This is how I write. That’s not going to change. Go buy a mocha choka latte for the same price or more and enjoy.

Someone had a problem that there wasn’t more about the other brothers in Possession. This makes me wonder if they read Surrender since there was nothing about Cash and Olivia in that book. Other than that, I have nothing to say to that issue.

When I taught college writing courses, I used to tell my students the most important goal is that their writing affect the reader. In a world where thousands of books are published every day and many of them are mere pennies to buy, this idea of writing needing to affect the audience has never been more important. If Possession left you sad or unhappy, or you can’t seem to get Kane’s story out of your mind, that’s not a bad thing. If nothing else, when you finish a book, you should feel something.

My favorite books have often left me feeling emotions I didn’t expect when I began them. All the way back to when I was 10 years old and finished reading Charlotte’s Web and was practically hyperventilating because that spider died. Or the first time I read of Sherlock Holmes’ death at Reichenbach Falls and felt like a friend had left my life. Or when I finished The Great Gatsby and Miss Lonelyhearts and couldn’t shake the feeling of hopelessness for days (don’t read those books back to back). Stories are supposed to affect you. If you’re reading books that are easily forgettable, you’re not reading good stuff.

I had someone ask how I wrote this without being affected. I didn’t. When I’m writing, I spend day and night with my characters. They come to me in my sleep in dreams, and they sit next to me as I write their stories. I’m with them for months, so their stories naturally touch me. When I wrote in the letter to the readers at the end of Possession that one day Kane just wasn’t there anymore, I wasn’t being dramatic or inventing an excuse for why the book ends like it does. He just stopped being there.

When I say I fell in love with Kane as I wrote this story, I mean it. I miss him more than I can express. I miss having him there every day telling me his story. I miss hearing him call Abbi his nickname for her. I miss watching him smile when Abbi says something that makes him happy. To this day, I can write Abbi, but not Kane. She’s with me every day and every night waiting just like I am. When he returns, I have to believe that he and Abbi will have a happy ending. No one deserves it more.

I respect the opinions of all my readers, but it seems these days with people routinely talking about reading hundreds of books a year and remembering very few of them that the idea of a book really affecting the reader has been forgotten. Stories should envelop you, making you lose yourself while you’re inside them. If you finished Possession and felt anything for Kane and Abbi and their story, I did exactly what I should do as an author.

My job is to write stories that take people away from their everyday lives. When people read my books, they’re supposed to forget about the speeding ticket they got, the boss that won’t get off their back, the everyday chores that seem to be never-ending. I love my job. I hope readers will continue to enjoy my stories and let each one take them away to a different world. I can’t promise they’ll all be just what you want, but I can promise that they’ll be the best work I have in me and the truest story for the characters I’m writing. That’s important to me as an author, and it’s the pledge I make when I open up my laptop every day.

December 31, 2014

2014–It’s been a great year! #giveaway

small_celebration-balloonsWhere did this year go? 2014 was the first year of my being a full time writer. I left my teaching job in December 2013 with one real belief: I was ready to be a full time writer, no matter what it brought.

So what did this year bring? Some pretty fantastic stuff! Here’s a look:

I released 3 novels (Give In To Me, Temptation, and Surrender), a novella (Ever After), and two box sets (The Heart of Stone Trilogy and From The Beginning Box Set). In addition to those, by the end of this year, I’d written another novel and a four part serial for release in 2015 (Possession and the SILK serial). This was definitely the year of the Heart of Stone series and the Club X series.

On top of all that, I hit the New York Times twice. Twice. I still can’t believe it sometimes. The first time was on my own with Give In To Me, and I’ll never forget that feeling the Wednesday night I found out I’d hit #9 on the New York Times ebook bestseller list and #13 on the combined ebook and paperback list. I still tear up when I think of that night. Thank you to all my wonderful readers for that!

Then in July, right after my birthday, I hit the New York Times bestseller list under my Gabrielle Bisset name with Blood Avenged (Sons of Navarus #1) in a box set. Twice in one year is pretty damn incredible. Add to that the entire Heart of Stone Trilogy Box Set hitting the USA Today bestseller list and it was a fantastic year!

I got to meet readers in Charlotte and Tampa at book signings, which was so much fun, and I plan to do a few signings in 2015 too.

My Heart of Stone series and my Sons of Navarus series made it to audiobook in 2014, and I’ll be looking into making more of my books available in audiobook in 2015.

It’s been a great year! Thanks for being there with me, and 2015 is shaping up to be incredible too. But changes are definitely coming. I’m not sure what’s going to happen with FB, but I hear putting links to any retailer will cause problems, so I’ll be linking to my website more in that case. Readers will be able to find anything they need here, including buy links to their favorite stores to find books. On my website you can also find what signings I’ll be at, a virtual signing so you can purchase signed paperbacks (it’s only in the US right now, but I’m working on international sales in 2015), and information on all my books, K.M. Scott and Gabrielle Bisset.

So take a look around–click on the links at the top of the page for a look at all the great stuff here and be sure to check back often since I’ll be adding more as the year goes on. And thank you for loving my characters, my stories, and me! It means the world to me.

***GIVEAWAY***

There’s a lot to celebrate, so let’s do just that! Comment on this blog post with what you look forward to in the new year for a chance to win a signed paperback copy of any of my Heart of Stone or Club X books OR an audiobook of any of the Heart of Stone series books! The giveaway is open internationally, and I’ll choose a winner on Friday, January 2, 2015!. Good luck and Happy New Year!

WIP Wednesday-What’s Coming In 2015?

Stipula_fountain_penI should be more regular with this WIP Wednesday meme, but I think I get distracted by all the Wet Wednesday pics and then before I know it, it’s Thursday. LOL

So what’s this author up to? Well, I’m currently working on finishing SILK Volume Three and wondering if I should change anything more in Possession, which will be going to the formatter right after New Year’s. Each SILK book has ended up at about 25-30K words in the first draft, so they aren’t teeny tiny books by any means. Look for those this spring.

I do first drafts, set the book aside and begin a new one, and then return to the book later. That way there’s always some project on my desk, whether it be writing or editing. I generally do two at once, especially when one book is in the editing phase and one book is in the writing phase, like I’m doing with Possession and SILK Volume Three.

2015 is shaping up to be quite a year for me. Possession (Club X #3) will start the year, and then the four SILK books will continue it. I’m hoping Satisfaction will be out by the end of spring, and I’d love to see Hold On My Heart out by mid-summer. I can’t make any promises, though. Life always gets in the way when I do that. LOL

Other than those, I have another secret project (single stand alone book) that I’d love to get to in the upcoming year, and I have two re-releases I want to work on getting out. Those two books are PNR and now that I have the rights back from the first one, I’m really looking forward to diving in and putting a new version out.

So, this is how 2015 is looking: (Click on the lines in red for more info)

Possession–January 22, 2015

SILK Volume One–February 19, 2015

SILK Volume Two–Release date TBA

SILK Volume Three–Release date TBA

SILK Volume Four–Release date TBA

Satisfaction–late spring

Hold On My Heart–summer?

Re-release of two PNR books (rewritten and restructured story)–summer?

Secret project–fall?

There may be other releases (collaborative efforts and the like) thrown in there too, along with possibly (and it’s only a possibility because of issues outside the writing part) the fifth Sons of Navarus book, Blood Craving.

I better get back to work. LOL

SILK-A Four Part Erotic Serial Coming In 2015 #comingsoon

Silk Announcement GraphicI’ve been working on something I’ve been calling my “secret project” and now it’s time to announce it. (Ooooh, I’m all giddy about getting to finally tell you what I’ve been up to.) In response to readers wanting more books sooner, I’m happy to announce I’ll be releasing a serial this spring.

Silk is a four part serial I’ll begin releasing on February 19, 2015. Sensual and erotic, it’s the story of Ian and Kristina and their very intense relationship.

Here’s the blurb:

I want her. I crave her. She’s my addiction.

The world knows me as Ian Anwell, New York Times bestselling author, but Kristina makes me want more.

Much more.

I need him. I love him. He’s my obsession.

Everyone thinks they know Kristina Richards, but I’m more than what they see on the screen.

So much more.

I’m his muse, and this is our story.

ADD ALL FOUR SILK VOLUMES TO YOUR GOODREADS TBR SHELF TODAY!

SILK Volume One: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23751685-silk

SILK Volume Two: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23751696-silk

SILK Volume Three: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23751708-silk

SILK Volume Four: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23751717-silk

Here are some more details: Each volume will be just $.99 for the FIRST THREE DAYS OF RELEASE. After that, they’ll go up to $2.99. Therefore, the entire 4 part serial can be yours for less than $4.00 total if you buy each part when it first releases. I want my fans to enjoy this serial for an affordable price.

There is NO box set or compilation planned. I will be announcing release dates for volumes 2, 3, and 4 in the future, but the entire serial will be available by the end of Spring 2015 (so no waiting forever LOL). However, please note: for those readers who prefer to wait until a serial or series is all released to purchase it, there is no benefit to waiting with Silk. I want my fans to get the low price, so the benefit is to grab them as they’re released.

A special thanks to Marisa Shor at Cover Me, Darling for 4 more incredible covers! I love them!
