Robert Adams, formerly professor of human services development at the University of Lincoln and professor of social work at Teesside University, has been visiting professor at the University of the West of Scotland and now is emeritus professor in the School of Health and Social Care, Teesside University. He worked in the UK penal system, beginning at HM Prison Pentonville and latterly as acting governor of a youth custody institution. Subsequently, his first social work post was as director of Barnardo’s first multi-professional project supporting children and families in the community.
