The day I got drunk!
The day I got drunk!
Image from stopdrinking.alcoholhypnosis.netAssuredly I say unto thee, the controversy in this blog title will generate legendary traffic. Why so? A regular reader will know that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, born-again and awed by his Grace and Mercy. And so in light of that, they may ask themselves, “Did he really once get drunk?” The thing is, I don’t really know. And if my senses don’t give me straight answers, then I’m tempted to say that I did. I narrated the...

Darkness
Darkness is a sequel to part one, titled "She". Read "She" here first.
Darkness
The man and the woman had been walking for nearly three hours. The woman lagged behind. Her feet were sore and her calves were burning with every step she took. Still, she kept going because he wouldn’t stop. The man looked strong enough to keep walking for two days. His muscles tightened with every step across the rugged terrain. The ground in this part of the land was different. It was not as beautiful as whe...

She
The woman watched as the man on the ground lay sound asleep. She wanted to touch him but she feared arousing him from his slumber. She did not want to scare him. She watched his bare chest rise and fall steadily as he inhaled and exhaled in his sleep. She took in his full form lying on the ground peacefully and imagined herself lying next to him. She imagined curling next to his equally naked form and resting in his arms until he awoke and found her next to him. Would he approve of her? Sh...

DANGERS MEN FACE: Loss of Motivation
DANGERS MEN FACE: Loss of Motivation
One of my favourite books in the men’s section is “Dangers Men Face” by Jerry White. I remember reading it just before I proposed to Turi. I was working as an intern, constantly wondering if I would make enough money to buy that golden ring I saw in downtown Nairobi. I looked at my paycheck and compared it to my proposal plan. My paycheck was like Obama and my ambition to propose was like Crimea. Obama will never support Crimea. I felt like a shark in a fis...

How did you know she is the one?
How did you know she is the one?
I get asked this question severally by my dating friends. Ernest, you married Waturi but how did you know she was the one? How do you know you did not marry the wrong one? What if the one is out there and you missed her? If you get a divorce doesn’t that mean she was not the one? If you argue and fight doesn’t that mean he/she is not the one? How can the one act like that? I don’t feel the fire in the relationship anymore; I don’t think he is the one? Before I...

“Why do you want to marry our daughter?”
“Why do you want to marry our daughter?”
The question had been asked severally and frankly, I was growing weary of answering it. Still, I recited my response with a positive face. It had been three hours in the same chair surrounded by my fiancée’s father, grandfather, uncles and elder cousins. It was 8 men versus one. I sat in the middle of their baraza as I was hard pressed to answer question after question after question. Three particular questions were repetitive. The first one is th...

STOP FEELING; START LOVING!
One of the most heart-breaking moments in anybody’s life (even though few will admit) is the realization that Disney relationships are not real- that we can have our idea of love destroyed by the reality of relationships. We are currently at a point in hist...

Purity in marriage
PURITY IN MARRIAGE
A friend of mine inadvertently revealed how he would be relieved after he got married because sexual purity wouldn't be a problem. Much as I hated to burst his bubble, I had to let him in on the truth. Marriage does not solve the problem of lust. I won’t deny the fact that getting married does help restrain lust (even the Bible admits it 2 Corinthians 7:9 “It is better to marry than to burn with lust”). However getting married does not guarantee freedom from lust. A married...
