A Christmas Goody
Though this came out last year, I see it sitting on my shelf and would like to bring its wonderfulness to your attention:
Batman: Noel by Lee Bermejo
This story combines a Christmas classic, beautiful, photo-realistic artwork, and... BATMAN. It's an incredible mashup of mythology that can be enjoyed by comic book fans and non-fans alike.
Told by a seemingly-mysterious narrator, Batman confronts his lifestyle, successes, failures, and fears when confronted by his most extreme villains on Christmas, forcing him to re-evaluate his place in the world and the different ways he is symbolized by different people.
This is a Christmas story for everyone: writers, artists, batman fans, fans of mashups, fans of visual art, etc. Highly recommended during snowfall nights this holiday season :)
