Highland Renaissance Faire - Week 2 - Day 2

Me at the Renfaire on Sunday. Despite having new costumes, we elected to just go are comfortable as possible since it was going to be a scorcher.

Candy looking lovely as ever

Kevin, yesterday, made a comment that he wanted a pirate doll. I asked Candy to make him on, thinking that I could send it to him Christmas. Lo! Miz Candy made one overnight that looks like Kevin. We presented it to him as a souvenir of his Kentucky vacation.

Some lessons in sword fighting. Kevin Briscoe is on the far right, watching.

Tara and Mark Reed are always a favourite subject to photograph. They are just to photogenic.

Fool Hearty teaching Fool School.

Marvin the Dragon (one of Candy's creations) loaded on his dragon wagon, about to stroll through the Renfaire selling her baby dragons for Dragon Bob.

It's always easy to make new friends at the Renfaire

Rondini is amazing escape artists -- but the crowd groans when he dislocates his shoulder to get out of the chains and straight jacket!!

Another wonderful day at the Kentucky Highland Renaissance Faire!!

Highland Renaissance Faire - Weekend 2

Me in my gorgeous medieval gown, ready to leave for the second weekend of the Kentucky Highland Renaissance Faire. It was a bit warmer today, still the gown was comfortable.

Candy ready to leave this morning.

Kevin and Mary Briscoe. We've been friends for nearly 8 years online. We meet through Facebook's old Pirates of the Caribbean - Pirates Rule! Game. The game is four years gone, but many of the pirate friends have remained close.

Weekend 1 - Kentucky Renaissance Faire - Day 1

The first day of the 10th Annual Kentucky Renaissance Faire saw huge crowds

Me in my new pirate hat (thanks to surprise gift from hubby) and Candy, ready to dash to the Renfaire!

We had lunchtime entertainment -- literally!! Capt'n Amos and sidekick danced and sang from the tabletop of our table!!

You can spot Candy sitting behind Capt'n Amos

All the Doctor Whos were on hand to add to the merriment

Candy resting under the tree enjoying the breeze with me....watching all the sights go by!

We, especially were happy to visit out friend Tara and Mark Reed "FOOL HEARTY"

Huge crowd, and me being limited with the cane because of my healing legs, made me miss Kevin Briscoe, one of my pirate friends from the old Facebook game Pirates of the Caribbean. I saw him from a distance, but no way could I catch up with my cane. However, he did find me on Sunday, and we shall post for pics next weekend. Miss Angie. She was back in the Gypsy camp, and downhill is not good on my poor leg. Again, will try to connect this coming weekend. Did get to see Dragon Bob (Robert Barker) but he stepped in a whole and nearly broke his leg, so spent most of the day at ER. I got a couple pics of Erika (but she was too busy play Da French to glance out way). I got her good on Sunday, though!!
All in all, it was good to see old friends and have such a wonderful time!!

Fabulous Friday

Friday we went to pick up Candy's doll from the County Extension Office in Buckner. They held the state-wide convention for County Homemakers. Candy's Fortuneteller doll had won a blue ribbon for the local Heritage Fair, then went on to half-state competition, where it won a second blue ribbon. In the statewide competition she took the third blue. The doll will move on to Country Fair and State Fair competition this July and August.

We had to drive back to La Grange for they were holding a luncheon and lecture on appeal that local residents wore during the 1850s - 1870. Since these clothes were handmade, some of the detail was amazing. Since Candy sews so much and I am into history, it was a perfect luncheon.

Me in my new hat.

Kentucky Girl Tea Party
Candy wrote an essay about me and entered it in the Kentucky Girl Contest. I entered her (where she got the idea) since she is now a Kentucky girl. However, Candy's essay was picked as a finalist, which put me in the five finalists for the title. It was a fun excuse to get dressed up and go out and enjoy a beautiful day. The have a lovely time. Enjoyed three pots of tea, Benedictine Sandwiches (a new treat for Candy since it's a local recipe, chicken salad sandwiches, and several sweet treats for desert. We had a wonderful time.
Candy all dressed up ready to go

Me with my glasses -- oops take glasses off for pics...must remember....lol
This is the first annual Kentucky Girl Contest, so we were thrilled to be a part of launching this new tradition for Derby time.
