Haiku Friday – Free & Think
Hello everyone! Welcome to another Haiku Friday! I visited Ron’s blog to check out this week’s prompt words Free and Think. The words reminded me of something funny I had seen a while back on Tumblr. After double checking the words, to be sure I got them right this week, I came up with this haiku. I hope it tickles you. ;)

A mind map is a powerful graphic technique used to visually organize information and unlock creativity.
Have you ever used this technique for storytelling, blogging or to plan an event? Has it worked for you?

Haiku Friday – Silent & loud
Hello and a warm welcome to my blog. I appreciate the visit. Today is Haiku Friday and that means I’ve written a haiku based on the prompt words from Ron’s haiku challenge. You can participate too! Click on the link above and join us. This week’s prompt words are Silent and Loud.

The prompt words this week made me think of the movie Black Swan. Natalie Portman did a phenomenal job portraying a ballerina slowly losing her mind. If you enjoy psychological thriller-horror movies and a stellar cast, I highly recommend this movie.

Have you seen the movie, Black Swan? Did you enjoy Natalie’s performance?
Do you know anyone who suffers from schizophrenia?

I’ve done a great deal of research on successful writers and people in general trying to figure out some kind of formula for success. What I found surprised me at first, but then, the more I thought about it the more it made sense. As I read about these people and studied their rise to fame and fortune I noticed a few similarities between them. I believe that what they shared in common is the key to their success.
Now, do I want fame and fortune? Do I want to rub elbows with celebrities and have my own reality TV show? I’d take the fortune, I mean, who wouldn’t want to have enough money to make a difference in their life and the lives of their loved ones? Do I want fame? Not so much, although, I would like my writing to be known and enjoyed all over the world. Am I being contradictory? Anyway, back to the secret of success. ;)
It isn’t a secret, not really. All you have to do is observe the people that have become successful despite terrible odds. What do they all have in common?
My observations, research, and study have led me to this conclusion. If you want to be successful you must have a positive attitude, confidence in your abilities, and most importantly you must have perseverance.
Of course this is all easier said then done. Sadly, many people will try to discourage you, there will be many bumps on the road to success. You will encounter many defeats but like Maya Angelou said, ‘we must not be defeated’.

Writer’s Quote Wednesday
Hi everyone! I’m posting this very late today and I have Comcast to thank for that. Since I moved to my new house I’ve had nothing but problems with Comcast and my WiFi connection. It works one day and then it’s out two, three, or four days. I’m getting really frustrated with this situation. Well, my internet is finally working––lets see how long this will last. Okay, I’m done venting.

Haiku Friday – Gain & Hound
Hello and welcome to Haiku Friday! Today’s prompt words are provided by Ron from RonovanWrites and they are Gain and Hound. If you’d like to participate in Ronovan’s weekly haiku prompt challenge click on the large link above.
The prompt words were quite difficult, at least for me, and I feel like I’ve cheated this week. You be the judge. ;)

Writer’s Quote Wednesday
Hello everyone! Every Wednesday I participate in an event sponsored by Colleen Chesebro called Writer’s Quote Wednesday. I choose a quote that I like and relate to, and feature it on my blog. If you’d like to participate, visit Colleen’s blog, Silver Threading. She also does a weekly wrap-up of all the participants’ quotes every Tuesday.
Several people that have read my first book, The Basement, and then read my short stories and The Fall of Lilith, have mentioned to me of the difference between my first book and my written work afterward. Well, aside from gaining knowledge and experience after writing my first book, I also consider that my first book was something I was compelled to write, whereas my later works were written from pure inspiration and fun. I felt I had a message to deliver when I wrote The Basement, and I chose to convey it to children.
♦ If you’re curious about my first book, The Basement, you can read about it here and here. ♦
