Travelled Roads

“Intelligent self-directed learning is better than formal education. Never be afraid to take a road less traveled—an uncertain path that conflicts with the norm.”

Robert I. Brown

Soul

“I look at you and see all the ways a soul can bruise, and I wish I could sink my hands into your flesh and light lanterns along your spine so you know that there’s nothing but light when I see you”

Shinji Moon

Poems

“I stopped going to therapy

because I knew my therapist was right

and I wanted to keep being wrong.

I wanted to keep my bad habits

like charms on a bracelet.

I did not want to be brave.

I think I like my brain best

in a bar fight with my heart.

I think I like myself a little broken.

I’m ok if that makes me less loved.

I like poetry better than therapy anyway.

The poems never judge me

for healing wrong.”

Clementine von Radics

The countdown begins…

Time for another Saturday update!

Firstly, I’ve been working on a MOBI. format for Kindles, and it’s pretty much ready to go. The release date for the paperback book is 14th August, I’m leaving it up to you guys to decide if the Kindle copy should be released at the same time or if I should roll them all out together? I’m leaning towards rolling them out together, but if the consensus says otherwise than who knows…

In other news, I received my first batch of posters yesterday! I have mine proudly stuck to my wall now :)

If you want one (why wouldn’t you?!) you can order them here.

Also just to remind you, once my facebook page hits 200 likes I’ll be launching a giveaway, so keep on spreading the word!

I’m going away (to Amsterdam!!) for a few days on Monday, so I won’t be online at all, but it would be great to come back to the 200 like target :)

I’ve added a new page to this blog, titled “Inspiration,” I’m a sucker for a good quote or song so I wanted to document them here!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Be Soft

“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.”

Kurt Vonnegut

Imagine That

“Things have been tough lately for dreamers. They say dreaming is dead, no one does it anymore. It’s not dead it’s just that it’s been forgotten, removed from our language. Nobody teaches it so nobody knows it exists. The dreamer is banished to obscurity. Well, I’m trying to change all that, and I hope you are too. By dreaming, every day. Dreaming with our hands and dreaming with our minds. Our planet is facing the greatest problems it’s ever faced, ever. So whatever you do, don’t be bored, this is absolutely the most exciting time we could have possibly hoped to be alive. And things are just starting.”

This song is also in the soundtrack that’s on the last page of the book.

The quote comes from a film ‘Walking Life.’ There’s something about this quote that I love, doing what I’m trying to do feels very much like a dream; until you throw yourself into it and it feels more real than anything else possibly could. It’s terrifying and sometimes it feels a lot easier to give up and run away.

Sometimes, it’s nice to be reminded the beauty of having dreams and that becomes enough to make any negativity disappear. As soon as you allow it to become yourself and your dream, anything extraneous feels irrelevant.

Helloooo Saturday!

After a long week of work, I’m now back in my favourite place; in front of my iMac in my pyjamas (…at 3pm, oops!)

I wanted to compile a list of ideas of ways YOU can all support me; because for this to book to mean anything to anyone people need to know about, and I need your help to make that happen. There are so many ways that are free, quick and easy to do this.

Want to know how you can support “I Haven’t Lived At All,” keep on reading!

Like my page on Facebook- did I mention I’ll be holding a giveaway of my book when the page hits 200 likes, so share the link with your friends too!
Follow me on twitter- Come say hi, let’s have a chat :) Tell people to follow me as well, the more the merrier!
Add my book on Goodreads- You can let your friends know that you want to read this book, and once you have, you can rate it and leave a review so I know (and your friends know) if you liked it!
My book is on amazon too- This means you can rate it and review it there too!
You can pre-order my book- I’ve created a store so you can pre-order my book and other little bits of merchandise! You can also tweet the links or add them to pinterest :)
If you run a blog or website, you can post a review or promotion for the book. Just email me a link and I can post it on my blog too!
Oh, you can follow me on wordpress too! If you like :)
Make some graphics with quotes from the book on! Everybody loves to see something visually pleasing- I know I do!

If you have any other ideas, just let me know! I’m working hard, but I still need your help and support!

If you’re interested in reviewing the book or interviewing me, just send an email to contact@evelynknightley.co.uk

The Beat

Happy Saturday Folks!

Anybody else UK based sick of the cold weather we’re experiencing? I’m huddled up in a blanket, blasting myself with a hair dryer in a bid to experience warmth.

Now I’ve got that grumble out of the way, on to an announcement!

As some of you may have seen, I’ve been working on getting some posters and postcards designed to go on sale in my store, both individually and as part of a gift package. Well, thanks to the incredibly talented Doodleheart Illustration, they’re now up in the store and available for pre-order! Be sure to check out her facebook page and give it a like; I was a little bit determined to have her work on these pieces as I’m a huge fan of her artwork, so I’m incredibly grateful to have her talent involved with the release of this book- so thank you!
