I think this is one of John Sandford's best works. Virgil Flowers seems to get involved in all kinds of mayhem but keeps cool and calm. Virgil is starting to outshine Lucas Davenport, and you have to go some to do that. Between the dogs, drugs and school board Virgil doesn't have a minute to spare but still has time for a little romance. And the dog! All I'll say is "PERFECT!"
