Deja la Necesidad de Vengarte

“Nunca tomen venganza. Dejen que se encargue la justa ira de Dios”.   Romanos 12:19a (NTV)

El corazón del verdadero perdón es renunciar a tu derecho a vengarte. La Biblia dice en Romanos 12:19a, “Nunca tomen venganza. Dejen que se encargue la justa ira de Dios” (NTV).

Dices, “Si renuncio a mi derecho de desquitarme de alguien que me lastimó, entonces eso es injusto” ¡Tienes razón! Es injusto. ¿Pero quién ha dicho que el perdón es justo?

¿Fue justo que Jesucristo perdonara todo lo que has hecho mal y te dejara ir libre? No. Pero no queremos que Dios sea justo con nosotros. Queremos que Dios tenga misericordia de nosotros. Todos queremos justicia para todos los demás y perdón para nosotros mismos.

La verdad es que la vida no es justa. Y el perdón no es justo. Se llama gracia, y Dios te lo ha mostrado. Un día, Dios va a tener la última palabra. Él va arreglar cuentas. Va a corregir el error. Va a hacer justicia. Deja esa parte a Dios. Sólo preocúpate por perdonar, para que pueda haber paz en tu corazón y puedas seguir adelante con tu vida.

Si no lo haces, caerás en la trampa de la amargura. El resentimiento y la amargura son emociones sin valor. De hecho, los médicos nos dicen que son emociones que no son saludables. Te comerán vivo como el cáncer. Todo tu resentimiento y amargura hacia las personas que te han lastimado en el pasado, no van a cambiar el pasado, y ciertamente, no cambiarán el futuro. Todo lo que logras con eso es arruinar tu presente.

Cuando te aferras al resentimiento permites que la gente de tu pasado continúe lastimándote hoy. ¡Y eso no es inteligente! La gente de tu pasado ha pasado. No pueden seguir lastimándote a menos que elijas aferrarte. En su lugar, deja a un lado la necesidad de vengarte o tratar de hacer que las cosas sean justas. Déjaselo a Dios.

La Biblia dice, “Cuídense unos a otros, para que ninguno de ustedes deje de recibir la gracia de Dios. Tengan cuidado de que no brote ninguna raíz venenosa de amargura, la cual los trastorne a ustedes y envenene a muchos” Hebreos 12:15 (NTV).

Four Reasons God Wants You to Show Mercy

“God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”

Matthew 5:7 (NLT)

Have you ever noticed that if you’re critical with others, they’re critical with you? If you’re kind to others, they’re kind to you? Or if you’re generous with others, then they’re generous with you? Whatever you give in life, you’re going to get in return.

The same is true with God’s mercy.

Jesus says in Matthew 5:7, “God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy” (NLT).

But why does God want you to show mercy to others? Why is being merciful so important?

Because God has shown you mercy.
Ephesians 2:4-5 says, “God’s mercy is so abundant, and his love for us is so great, that while we were spiritually dead in our disobedience he brought us to life with Christ. It is by God’s grace that you have been saved” (GNT). God wants you to pass on the mercy that you’ve received from him.

Because God commands you to be merciful.
Do you want a summary of what life’s all about? Here it is: “The Lord has told you what is good. This is what the Lord requires from you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to live humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8 GW).

Because you’re going to need more mercy in the future.
You’re going to make a lot of mistakes between now and when you get to heaven, and you’re going to need God’s mercy. But you cannot receive what you are unwilling to give. James 2:13 says, “You must show mercy to others, or God will not show mercy to you when he judges you. But the person who shows mercy can stand without fear at the judgment” (NCV).

Because showing mercy brings or causes happiness.
Matthew 5:7 says that God blesses those who are merciful. The word “blessed” also means “happy,” so the more you learn and demonstrate this quality, the happier and more blessed you’re going to be.

Because so many people in the world are living for themselves, showing mercy and grace to others will always stand out. Be known for your mercy as you model for others how good God has been to you, and you will make an eternal difference!

Responde al Mal con el Bien

“Hagan bien a quienes los odian. Bendigan a quienes los maldicen. Oren por aquellos que los lastiman”.   Lucas 6:27b-28 (NTV)

La Biblia dice en Lucas 6:27b-28, “Hagan bien a quienes los odian. Bendigan a quienes los maldicen. Oren por aquellos que los lastiman” (NTV). Observa estos tres verbos: “hagan bien”, “bendigan” y “oren por”. Gran parte del perdón es responder al mal con el bien.

¿Cómo sabes cuando has perdonado a alguien? Cuando puedas orar para que Dios bendiga a esa persona. También empiezas a ver la herida de esa persona. Cuando alguien está sufriendo en el interior, lastima a otros. Las personas heridas, hieren a las personas. Cuando aprendes a perdonar, no sólo ves tu propio dolor, sino que también ves la herida del otro. Entonces empiezas a entender por qué actuaron de manera tan malvada o egoísta, o hiriente o abusiva. Puedes orar por ellos, e incluso puedes orar para que Dios los bendiga.

Tú dices: “Pero tú no sabes cómo me han hecho daño”. No, no lo sé. Y lo siento por cada herida que hayas tenido. Pero sí sé esto: Nunca vas a seguir adelante con tu vida a menos que perdones y lo dejes ir. Eso no significa que tengas que olvidar. Significa que renuncias a tu derecho de vengarte y respondes al mal con bien.

¿Cómo puedes hacer esto? Solamente de una manera: Tienes que ser lleno del amor de Jesucristo.

Cuando guardas un registro de lo malo, no eres una persona amorosa. Pero cuando lo dejas ir y bendices a los que te hacen daño, entonces estás dejando que el amor de Dios trabaje a través de ti. Dices: “¡No puedo hacer eso!” ¡Tienes razón! Por eso necesitas a Jesucristo. Sólo puedes hacerlo con Su ayuda.

This Is How Much God Loves You

“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

1 John 4:9-10 (NLT)

Everything in life changes—relationships, jobs, health, finances. But there’s one thing in the universe that will never change: God’s love.

God loves you, no matter what. Your failures, your brokenness, and your sin can never diminish his love. Knowing you can count on God’s love provides a rock-solid foundation for your life.

The Bible’s most famous verse, John 3:16, says, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son” (NIV).

Consider the small word “so” that goes before “loved” in that verse. “So” suggests the extravagance of God’s love. God loves you with a generous, extravagant love that can never be taken away. It’s beyond comprehension. He loves you on your good days and your bad days. He loves you when you sin and when you are faithful to him.

It’s important that you don’t just recognize this lavish love intellectually. You need to recognize it emotionally, to really understand it deep down in your spirit. Love is God’s nature. God created the universe and everything in it just so that he could love it. And God created you so he could love you.

In fact, in Jesus, God shows what real love, his love, looks like. The Bible says, “God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins” (1 John 4:9-10 NLT). 

Many people say they love you. But God showed you how much he loves you. He loves you so much that it hurt. He sacrificed his Son. When Jesus died for you, he was saying he loved you so much he’d rather die than live without you. 

The Bible says that’s what real love—the kind of love that you can build your life on—looks like. Real love makes sacrifices. Real love gives all. Real love endures for all eternity.

That’s the kind of love only God has for you. He’s waiting with open arms to show you his goodness, mercy, and love.

Jesus reveals how much God loves you

Cinco Cosas que el Perdón No es

“El amor no es descortés ni egoísta. No se enoja fácilmente. El amor no lleva cuenta de las ofensas”. 1 Corintios 13:5 (PDT)

Hay muchos pensamientos erróneos sobre el perdón. El acto de perdonar se rebaja. Se abusa de él. Se desvaloriza.

¿Qué es realmente el perdón? Haz una prueba rápida respondiendo “verdadero” o “falso” a las siguientes afirmaciones:

Una persona no debe ser perdonada hasta que lo pida.El perdón incluye minimizar la ofensa y el dolor que se causó.El perdón incluye restaurar la confianza y reanudar la relación.No has perdonado de verdad hasta que no has olvidado la ofensa.Cuando veo que han lastimado a alguien, es mi deber perdonar al ofensor.

Si estudias la Biblia, descubrirás que las cinco afirmaciones son falsas.

Antes de hablar de lo que es el perdón, tenemos que hablar de lo que no es. Aquí hay cinco cosas que el perdón no es:

El perdón no es condicional. En otras palabras, no se basa en la respuesta de otra persona. El verdadero perdón es incondicional. No se gana. No se merece. No se negocia. No se paga. No se basa en una promesa de que no lo volverás a hacer. Si le dices a alguien “Te perdonaré si… …eso no es perdón. Eso se llama regateo”.El perdón no es minimizar la seriedad de la ofensa. Hay una gran diferencia entre ser lastimado y ser perjudicado. Ser lastimado es algo que es accidental y no requiere perdón. Cuando eres perjudicado, alguien intencionalmente quiso herirte, y eso requiere perdón.El perdón no es reanudar una relación sin cambios. La Biblia enseña que el perdón y la restauración de la relación son dos cosas diferentes. El perdón es instantáneo. La confianza debe ser construida durante un largo período de tiempo. El perdón es tu parte en la reconciliación. Pero para que una relación sea restaurada, el infractor tiene que hacer otras tres cosas que no están relacionadas con el perdón: Demostrar un arrepentimiento genuino, hacer una indemnización siempre que sea posible, y reconstruir tu confianza demostrando que él o ella ha cambiado con el tiempo.El perdón no es olvidar lo que ha pasado. Es imposible tratar de olvidar algo. Cuando intentas olvidar algo, ¿en qué te concentras? en lo que quieres olvidar. Y en lo que sea que te concentres, tiendes a moverte hacia allá…La clave no es olvidar. La clave es aprender a verlo a través del lente de la gracia y la soberanía de Dios y descubrir cómo Él puede convertir incluso las cosas malas en buenas en tu vida, si confías en Él y respondes de la manera correcta. El perdón no es mi derecho cuando yo no fui el que fue herido. Sólo la víctima tiene derecho a perdonar. No puedes perdonar a la gente que no te ha hecho daño.

Siempre hay un costo por el pecado. Y siempre hay un costo para el perdón. Por eso tienes que entender lo que el perdón no es, antes de poder ver lo que es realmente el perdón.

The Best Family Reunion Ever

“There will be one huge family reunion with the Master. So reassure one another with these words.”

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 (The Message)

When I was young, I didn’t really think about heaven that much. First, it seemed so boring—at least the way the world describes it. Second, it seemed like a long way off. And third, I didn’t have anybody there that I knew. But I know a lot of people who are in heaven now. I can’t wait to get there and be with them.

In heaven, we’re going to be reunited with our loved ones who love the Lord. Those who are in the family of God are all going to be there.

Who would you like to talk to first in heaven? Of course, you’re going to meet and worship the Lord first. But who are you excited to see next? Every believer throughout history will be there. Would you like to talk to Moses? You can! How about Abraham or Mary or Paul? I don’t know about you, but I definitely have some questions for Jonah. You’ll see famous people from throughout Christian history and scientists and world leaders and people from every tribe and nation. You’re going to have all of eternity to talk with them!

The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:17, “There will be one huge family reunion with the Master” (The Message). Can you imagine how emotional, how joyful that’s going to be?

My mother is in heaven, my father is in heaven, my older brother, Jim, is in heaven, and my youngest child, Matthew, is in heaven. I have many dear people who served with me in ministry in heaven. The more of my family and friends who are on that side of death, the dearer heaven becomes to me.

1 Thessalonians continues like this: “There will be one huge family reunion with the Master. So reassure one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 The Message).

Are you encouraged by the thought of being in the presence of Jesus and reunited with your friends and family? When we are grieving with someone, we should share that encouragement with them. If they and their loved one know Jesus as their Savior, then death is not the end. They will see them again!

This is God’s goodness to us, that there is no greater hope in life than a big family reunion for eternity!

If you’re ready to commit your life to Jesus, start with this prayer:

“Dear God, you have promised that if I believe in your Son, Jesus Christ, everything I’ve ever done wrong will be forgiven, I will learn the purpose of my life, and you will accept me into your eternal home in heaven one day.

"I confess I have sinned, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died to take away my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen."

Enfocarse en el Propósito de Dios deja poco Tiempo para la Envidia

“Corramos con perseverancia la carrera que Dios nos ha puesto por delante”. Hebreos 12:1b (NTV)

Cuando comienzas a preocuparte por algo que Dios está haciendo en la vida de otra persona, entonces la envidia se incrementa, enfócate en el plan que Dios tiene para tu vida. No te distraigas –enfócate en la voluntad de Dios para tu vida.

Hay una simple frase en la historia de los trabajadores de la viña que el dueño de la viña les dijo a quienes estaban renegando de no recibir lo que creían que merecían: “Toma tu dinero y vete” Mateo 20:14a (NTV). Él está diciendo básicamente a aquellos que no pueden dejar de sentir envidia “Es tiempo de avanzar. Dejen de tener una fiesta de lástima. ¡Ya supérenlo!”.

Algunas veces nos quedamos en el pasado. Tal vez todavía tienes envidia de la persona que fue el rey o la reina del baile de graduación. Pero ¿por qué deberías dejar que lo que alguien más hizo impida que sigas el plan de Dios para tu vida justo ahora?

Hebreos 12:1b dice, “Corramos con perseverancia la carrera que Dios nos ha puesto por delante” (NTV). La “carrera” significa tu única carrera –la carrera que es únicamente para ti. Dios tiene un plan que Él quiere que tu persigas y que no es para nadie más. Él lo planeó para ti antes de que nacieras, e incluye mejores cosas, cosas que ni en tus mejores sueños has imaginado tener.

Una vez que comiences a descubrir y perseguir el propósito único que Dios tiene para tu vida, no envidiarás nunca más a nadie. Serás liberado de la tiranía de querer ser el mejor todo el tiempo. Sólo tienes que ser el mejor que puedas ser, la persona para lo que Dios te creó.

Cuando te enfocas de esta manera en la carrera particular de Dios para ti, también entenderás lo que Él quiere que hagas y no tendrás tiempo para la envidia. Estarás viviendo tu vida para la audiencia de uno.

Why You Can Face the Future Without Fear

“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”

Psalm 23:6 (NLT)

Someday your life on Earth is going to end, but that’s not going to be the end of you. You’re going to live forever in one of two places: heaven or hell. Your body is going to die, but you’re not going to die, because you were made to last forever.

How long is forever going to last? Forever!

The Bible tells us why Christians should be the most confident about the future: “Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord . . . We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:6, 8 NIV).

You will never know how to really live until you’re ready to die. Only a fool would go through life totally unprepared for something that everybody knows is inevitable. 

You’re going to die someday. If you’ve accepted Christ, then you’re going to go to heaven, to “live in the house of the LORD forever” (Psalm 23:6 NLT). In heaven, you’ll be released from pain, sorrow, suffering, depression, and fear. “He’ll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone” (Revelation 21:4 The Message).

For Christians, death is a transfer, a promotion. It’s on to better things and no more problems.

Those truths should change everything for you! It doesn’t mean life is going to be easy. And it doesn’t mean you will always be happy, or always know what you should do, or that you will never sin again.

But it does mean you can face the future without fear. God has taken care of your biggest problem, your salvation. He is never going to leave you, and you will live with him forever!

Where will you spend eternity?

The Bible says you can only get to heaven by trusting in God through his Son, Jesus Christ. Cuando Envidias, estás Luchando con Dios

“Amigo, no estoy cometiendo ninguna injusticia contigo. ¿Acaso no aceptaste trabajar por esa paga? Tómala y vete. Quiero darle al último obrero contratado lo mismo que te di a ti. ¿Es que no tengo derecho a hacer lo que quiera con mi dinero? ¿O te da envidia de que yo sea generoso?”.   Mateo 20:13-15 (NVI)

Cuando parece que Dios está bendiciendo a alguien de una forma, que no te está bendiciéndote a ti, relájate y confía en Dios. Cree que Él sabe lo que es mejor para ti, y confía en Él cuando parezca que la vida es injusta.

Una de las formas para saber que la envidia está invadiendo tu vida, es el lenguaje que usas. Si te descubres usando la frase: “No es justo”, es que has caído en la trampa de la envidia. Dices: “¡No es justo! ¿Por qué ellos? ¿Por qué yo no? He trabajado tan duro como ellos”.

La parábola de Jesús de los trabajadores de la viña, éstos sentían que estaban siendo tratados de manera injusta, no porque no se les hubiera pagado lo prometido, sino porque otros que trabajaron menos recibieron la misma paga.

Mateo 20:12 dice: “Estos que fueron los últimos en ser contratados trabajaron una sola hora —dijeron—, y usted los ha tratado como a nosotros que hemos soportado el peso del trabajo y el calor del día” (NVI). Aquí se puede escuchar la envidia.

Mira bien en los siguientes versículos la réplica del dueño, que representa a Dios: “Amigo, no estoy cometiendo ninguna injusticia contigo. ¿Acaso no aceptaste trabajar por esa paga? Tómala y vete. Quiero darle al último obrero contratado lo mismo que te di a ti. ¿Es que no tengo derecho a hacer lo que quiera con mi dinero? ¿O te da envidia de que yo sea generoso?” Mateo 20:13-15 (NVI).

La conclusión final de la envidia es esta: cuando eres envidioso, estás luchando con Dios. Dudas de la bondad de Dios en tu vida. Resientes su decisión de bendecir a alguien más. Lo acusas de ser injusto. No crees que tu mayor interés es importante para Él. Lo acusas de favoritismo.

Al contrario, el amor de Dios —ilimitado, eterno, incondicional—, es igual para todos. Pero Él no es una máquina expendedora: no puedes introducir una oración y conseguir lo que quieres. Dios tiene una buena razón para que no tengas lo que deseas. Él te conoce mejor que tú mismo. Comienza a orar: “Dios, voy a confiar que tú tienes un plan único para mi vida y que sabes mejor que yo lo que necesito ahora mismo”.

La envidia es una fiebre. Dudar de Dios es la infección. Cada vez que comienzas a tener envidia, es porque dudas de Dios. La medicina que necesitas es comenzar a confiar en Dios y en su amor por ti.

¿Cómo quieres ver el amor de Dios reflejado en tus relaciones?¿De qué manera confiar en Dios, te da más confianza o claridad cuando oras?¿En qué específicamente estás confiando en Dios ahora? ¿Cómo le puedes mostrar que confías en Él para tu provisión y futuro?Si todavía no has confiado en Jesús y no te has comprometido a seguirlo, ¿por qué esperar más? God’s Love Is Pursuing You

“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.”

Psalm 23:6 (NLT)

Yesterday we looked at how God’s goodness follows you in life. In the same verse, King David says God’s unfailing love also pursues you.

Picture a parent following a little kid around and picking up after the child. When you’re struggling with hurts, habits, and hang-ups, God comes right alongside you, helping to pick up your messes and telling you that his unfailing love is always there. 

This means that, rather than entering the future with a question mark, you can do it with an exclamation point! God will be with you, no matter what happens. He will help you out: “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6 NLT). 

What is God’s goodness, and what is his unfailing love? God’s goodness is the fact that God gives us good things in life that we don’t deserve. His unfailing love—his mercy—means that God holds back the condemnation we do deserve.

Remember this:

God’s goodness will provide and protect.God’s mercy (unfailing love) will pardon and forgive.God’s goodness will supply your every need.God’s mercy will soothe.God’s goodness will help.God’s mercy and love will heal. 

You can count on God’s promises, including his promise that you “will live in the house of the LORD forever.” So, even after God supplies everything you need to follow him in this life, he still has forever waiting for you in a perfect place he has prepared for you.

God is going to pursue you with his love throughout your life, and then you’re going to enjoy being in his presence for eternity.
