My Review:
This book blew me away! Oh my goodness, the genius that went on in this book is something totally fresh, completely new. I don't even have another book to compare to. Quests of Shadowind: Sky Shifter just blew me away! Seriously, the detail, the story, the imagination it took to creature such an enjoyable book just swept me off my feet.
I definitely recommend this book! It took me on such a fun adventure, such a thrilling ride! I was completely take aback! Not often do you really get to see a brother/sister relationship these days but seeing these siblings come together to solve their problems was a very nice surprise!
I cannot wait to read the next book! This book is very genius, very enjoyable, very adventurous!

A Lion in America 1: A Whisper in the Jungle ~ A Book Review

Deep in the African jungle where even the bravest are afraid to venture, lies a truth that will propel James through his improbable American journey, if he can come out alive. James a village boy in Africa receives a scholarship to go and study in America and he becomes the envy of the whole village. His girlfriend Janny is however skeptical of what a long distance relationship can do to love. But when Janny vanishes from the village, James and his dog Simba plunge into the belligerent forest at the risk of his life and his American dream. Love transcends all. ‘A Lion in America’ is a suspense story full of love, humor and adventure, where the answer to love’s dilemma lies with a perfect kiss at the top of the Empire Building in New York City.
My Review:
A Whisper in the Jungle threw me at first. The style of writing came across more like a journal rather than a story but the story there was just so engaging that I couldn't put it down. Every time I thought about putting it down I realized I had just read another chapter.
Despite the writing style, I found it very full of detail, every page was full of vivid detail in a way I didn't know possible. This book definitely took me by surprise.
The mystery keeps you reading, makes you need to know what happened, it was a very fun, very clever story. I will be checking out the second book!

Double Fault ~ A Book Review

DOUBLE FAULT is the 2nd book in The Vortex Series where Cassie and Trent’s problems have only just begun. As they fight through the repercussions of creating a parallel world, other dangers are lurking. After years of running, Trent and his orphaned sister, Lorelai, sense the dangerous and power-hungry Dr. Fox is close to discovering their whereabouts.
While Cassie fears for Trent’s life, her tennis career hangs in the balance. Caught between her old and new life, she watches her world slowly crumble until it’s a tragic portrayal of all that she used to know. But worse yet, if her secret is revealed, she might lose what’s most dear to her heart.
My Review:
Oh my goodness, the twists, the turns, the crazy moments that completely throw you off! This book is even more exciting and intriguing than the first! The adventure, the heart pounding, tear wrenching moments will take your breath away.
Again, the villain just . . . *shakes head* there are no words. I am blown away by how much Janine makes you feel for her villains. It is so crazy but honestly, I felt bad for him! It was crazy! And in that moment when you learn is back story, there was flood of tears!!!!
I stayed up late to finish Double Fault. This book is incredible, enticing, enjoyable, and like the first, will leave you wanting . . .no, no, NEEDING more!!!
And just when you think it can't get much crazier, just when you think the story is wrapped up, you get punched with the crazy ending that leaves you begging to know how they are going to fix this all in the end.
Double Fault is an amazing book that I HIGHLY reccomeend (as well as the first book) to all Young Adults and even adults!! This book, this series, will blow you away!!
Even despite the few things I really didn't like about it, I can overlook to give this book five stars . . . er dragons! :)

Rematch ~ A Book Review

Trent Astor is many things—orphan, runaway, musician. But what’s most extraordinary about Trent is that he’s a time traveler. His supernatural gift sends him on missions to the past to save unsuspecting victims from harm. However, when he fails to save the life of a young girl, his life changes in ways he could never have dreamed.
At eleven-years-old, Cassie Moore suffered through a horrific shooting. Tragically scarred from the ordeal, the once promising tennis prodigy was forced to throw away all hope of a future in tennis. Now, as she begins her senior year of high school, the past continues to haunt her. She struggles to find herself, her self-esteem at an all time low. If only she could resolve the past, she might be able to move on with her life. She never imagined that could be possible until she meets the gorgeous new student in her PE class.
My Review:
I don't think the blurb/synopsis/description, does this book justice! Because when I began reading, I didn't get what I expected. But what I did get was something amazing!!!
I will admit that when I got the the second chapter I was worried with where the scene/talk might lead but was pleasantly surprised with where it didn't go! Janine has written a wonderful, engaging story that keeps you reading and wanting more!
And ohh my goodness, it is a good thing that I had the second book on hand when I finished Rematch because the ending leaves your heart pumping, your eyes leaking, your hands sweaty, and you begging for more!
This book is definitely something different, and something I recommend highly! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!
To be honest, the review ended there. But the more I think about it, the more I think that my words just don't do it justice. This book is something unlike any other book I've ever read. It is completely genius. Setting the few conversations aside that I didn't like (they were all based around one topic), I just LOVED the book.
It really is a fantastic book. Such an incredible plot, amazing twists that I did NOT see coming. And on top of that, near the end you get to see that some times villains aren't villains but simply victims who made the wrong choice. And that part made be bawl my eyes out!
Janine is an incredible author who has written some incredible books!!! I can't wait to post my review of the second book in the Vortex series!

Let the Sky Fall ~ A Book Review

Seventeen-year-old Vane Weston has no idea how he survived the category five tornado that killed his parents. And he has no idea if the beautiful, dark-haired girl who’s swept through his dreams every night since the storm is real. But he hopes she is.
Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.
When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget. And their greatest danger is not the warriors coming to destroy them—but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them.
My Review: From page one I was captured in this book, caught up in the whirlwind of emotions, characters, and story. Shannon Messenger has a gift for weaving a tale that keeps you reading into the wee hours of morning. My first thought when I finished the book was 'Oh the feels!" and it is the best way to describe this book.
I was so caught up in both Vane's and Audra's POV's and couldn't help but feel for both of them, understanding where each of them were coming from.
I look forward to more of Shannon's work, that is for sure!
*And yes, I had to put a wind joke in there somewhere. :)

Everbound (Everneath 2) ~ A Book Review

Nikki Beckett could only watch as her boyfriend, Jack, sacrificed himself to save her, taking her place in the Tunnels of the Everneath for eternity — a debt that should’ve been hers. She’s living a borrowed life, and she doesn’t know what to do with the guilt. And every night Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away.
Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen — and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist her in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself.
Nikki and Cole descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they’d anticipated — and more deadly. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack — even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own.
In this enthralling sequel to Everneath, Brodi Ashton tests the bonds of destiny and explores the lengths we’ll go to for the ones we love.
My Review:
They say for writers, their idea of romance is how to keep away the lovebirds the longest. I suppose Brodi Ashton is no different. Because my goodness, Everbound is a heart wrenching tale. Worth it? Oh yes. And oh no. But yes, definitely. Everbound cradled my heart, as if it were going to protect it, and then it threw it on the ground, stomped around on it, crushed it, and then picked it up and hugged it better. And just when I thought they were going to make amends, my heart got beaten up on all over again!
Yes Everbound is that emotional, that crazy, that . . . fantastic.
You know when you read a book and it is so crazy yet fantastic? So heart-breaking yet you love it to death? Yeah, those books? Brodi Ashton, I don't know that I will ever forgive you for this. And the last book in the Everneath trilogy, had better fix this. Just saying. . . Everbound has stolen my heart.

Book Tour: The Faerie Prince ~ A Book Review + Character Interview + Giveaway

Guardian trainee Violet Fairdale is just weeks away from one of the most important occasions of her life: graduation. After messing up big time by bringing a human into the fae realm, Vi needs to step up her game and forget about Nate if she hopes to graduate as the top guardian of her year. Everything would be fine if she wasn’t forced to partner with Ryn, her ex-friend, ex-enemy, current ‘sort of friend’. They might be trying to patch up their relationship, but does she really want to spend a week undercover with him for their final assignment? On top of that, the possibly insane Unseelie Prince is still on the loose, free to ‘collect’ as many specially talented faeries as he can find—and Vi is still at the top of his list. Add in faerie queens, enchanted storms, complicated not-just-friends feelings, and a murder within the Guild itself, and graduation is about to become the least of Vi’s problems.
My Review:
This is probably the hardest review I have ever had to write. Not because I can't think of things to say. But because no words I can put together will do this book justice.
But I have to try. So let me start with the emotion. Oh the feels! I am going to warn you now, you're going to need tissues. You will also want to set aside a few hours (however long it takes you to read a book) that people know you are not to be interrupted for any reason whatsoever!
At some points during the book you may want a punching bag, a shoulder to cry on, and something to hug. I found that a pillow works wonderfully for all of these functions.
By the time you have reached the last page of this book, you may feel the need to hunt down the author and have words with her. I know how you feel, I promise. However I must ask you to refrain from doing/saying anything that may affect the next book being written, edited, and published.
If I had to tell you how I feel about this book in one word, I would begin with laughing. Because there is no one word that can fully describe the awesomeness of this book. But laughter aside, if I really had to try, I would say magical. This book is magical.
It is haunting, it is beautiful, it is magical.
The setting . . . Creep Hollows is home away from home and somewhere I cannot wait to visit again. Book three in this series CANNOT come soon enough.
The characters . . . . oh the characters!!! This is where that pillow and tissues will be helpful. But seriously, the characters are real, amazing, awesome, fantastic, believable, relate-able, they have become part of my family! And yes I am in love with Ryn. He is undoubtedly one of my favorite book crushes!
And then there is the writing. Which is fantastic! Quite honestly I hope that this series hits the big screen! It deserves it! Those who love The Iron Fey series will be blown away by The Faerie Guardian and The Faerie Prince. And if you haven't read either one, I advise you to drop what you are doing immediately and go read these books. No worries, you can thank me later.

Konstanz: Hello, Nate! So I am dying to know, what was your first thought when you saw Violet in your room the very first time you met?
Nate: I was obviously pretty shocked, as I’m sure you can imagine! Part of me thought I must still
be dreaming, but the rest of me knew it felt real. After the shock, I think my first coherent thought was something about a computer game coming to life and happening right in front of my eyes. You know—super hot girl in tight clothing fighting an otherworldly creature. [Pause] You don’t get what I’m saying? Okay, well, yeah.
Konstanz: Okaaaaay. Moving on. Second question . . . do you love her? I mean, truly love her? Or do you think maybe it's just a crush that will eventually fade?
Nate: This isn’t just a crush—I love her. I know, I know, you’ll probably say I haven’t known her
long enough, but I feel like we’ve gone through a lot together. And if I’m going to be sticking around in this faerie world, then she’s the one I want by my side.
Konstanz: Alright. Now, what are your thoughts when it comes to Ryn?
Nate: Well, Vi hasn’t said much about him, but I gather they REALLY don’t get along. He seems
like kind of a jerk, actually. Not the kind of guy I’d be friends with.
Konstanz: What were your first thoughts once you found out that you aren't quite 100% human?
Nate: Something along the lines of, This is not happening to me. It really threw me and made me
question who I actually am. I mean, my whole life I’d assumed I was just a regular human— obviously. Then I find out that I’m actually not? That one of my parents is a faerie from another realm? Come on, that’s a LOT to deal with!
Konstanz: I can imagine. Well, thanks for stopping by the blog, Nate.
Nate: You’re welcome. It’s only my second time on a blog. Pretty fun!

Feudlings ~ A Book Review

Nothing makes a new school suck worse than discovering the guy you’re in love with is your prophesied nemesis.
Ari is the most powerful flame-throwing sorceress ever, and her people’s last hope in an ancient war. But she’s also a seventeen-year-old girl, and in her free, not-hunting-nemesis times, she jumps from school to school, trying to figure out regular people her own age and pretending she’ll get the chance to graduate.
Shane lives a double life. He goes to school and masters the art of popularity, hiding the fact that he has a fate with a slim chance of his survival. He’s destined to end a 300 year-old war by killing or being killed. He knows he’s hunted by a powerful enemy who’s not afraid to die. Only problem? He has no idea who that enemy is.
When Ari shows up at Shane’s school, angry and sullen and determined to keep him at arm’s reach, neither of them realize they are supposed to be killing each other, not fall-ing in love. Until Ari does realize it, and she almost dies – by Shane’s hand.
My Review:
If you know anything about me (aside for my love of dragons),then you know I HATE cliche. And this book is anything but. It is also a fantastic read! This has got to be one of the most romantic, hilarious books I have ever read. I have never read a book so hilarious yet serious while being romantic and keeping up with serious tension!
I do not have an e-reader. I don't want one. But there was no way I was waiting to see if this book went *print before I read it so I purchased an e-copy and read it on my computer in one sitting.
And it was worth every second. I LOVE all of the characters, I love the interaction, the relationships, the fact that everything felt real.
Ari has got to be one of my all time favorite kick-butt female characters!
Hands down, no questions asked, Feudlings is one of my all-time favorite reads! And definitely in my top five favorite picks for the year!

Book tour: Demon (Dark Musicals, 2) ~Promo/Excerpt
~ Title: Demon (Dark Musicals Trilogy, 2) ~Author: Laura DeLuca ~ Genre: Young Adult, Thriller ~ Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours
When Justyn and Rebecca set off for the New York School of Performing Arts, they think their dreams are about to come true. To their dismay, they aren't in high school anymore, and the competition is steep. Rebecca must compete against accomplished singers for a role in the production of Demon Barber, including a stunning Gothic diva with her sights set on Justyn.
It doesn't help that things keep disappearing from their apartment or that Rebecca's father refuses to accept that Justyn is an essential part of her life. Yet, all this seems minimal in comparison to the serial rapist terrorizing the campus.
Consumed by fear and obsessed with revenge, Rebecca and Justyn start living the story of Sweeney Todd—both on and off the stage.

Rebecca unwound the silver ribbon. When she lifted the lid, she found two matching pendants, each laced to a long hemp chain. They were shaped sort of like seashells, with an endless spiral pattern that looped out from the center as the chambers grew larger. They were dark brown in color with a few hints of tan along the edges. The stones had been polished and smoothed on both sides, but when she lifted them, she could see that the two pieces fit together perfectly. She swore the halves fought to snap together, like magnets in her hand. There was an energy pulsing and vibrating within the stones that even a novice witch like Rebecca could feel.
“They’re beautiful,” Rebecca whispered as she ran her hand along the intricate
“It’s an ammonite.” Justyn lifted one of the pendants, brushed her hair to the side, and hooked the clasp around her neck. His breath tickled her skin as his hands moved with graceful dexterity, giving her goose bumps despite the humid August night.
“They’re actually fossils that are millions of years old, named after Ammon, an ancient gyptian deity. When they’re divided in half, they’re perfect mirrors of one another. Some cultures believe that if the two halves are given to lovers, it will bind them together forever. When made into necklaces, they’re often called soul mate pendants.”
“Wo-wow,” Rebecca stuttered. As usual, the sentiment behind Justyn’s gift was even more beautiful than the gift itself. It left her a little flustered. “That’s amazing. How do you know all this stuff?”
“You don’t spend eighteen years living with Darlene without learning a thing or Rebecca laughed. Justyn’s mother Darlene was definitely something special. EMT, exotic belly dancer, and Wiccan High Priestess were only a few of the titles she claimed. Rebecca knew she was a fountain of earth-based knowledge after years of studying the Craft. As Darlene’s new apprentice, Rebecca greedily dipped into that knowledge herself as often as possible.
“It’s beautiful,” Rebecca repeated, too overcome with emotion to think of anything more eloquent to say. “You certainly know how to make things interesting.”
“Like I told you on our first date, I try not to be boring.” He winked at her. “So … are you going to put mine on for me?”
“Oh yeah … sorry.”Rebecca giggled as she lifted the hemp chain. She wasn't nearly as graceful as Justyn. She almost dropped the necklace in the sand three times before she managed to get the clasp locked. When she finally had it secured, he placed his hand over her heart, where the ammonite lay. He did the same with her hands, lifting them to his chest. His dark eyes had lost all glimmer of humor. He met her gaze with a stare filled with genuine emotion. Beneath her fingers, she could feel the gentle, steady rhythm of his heart beating in perfect tune with her own.
“Our love will span both space and time. In this life and the next, you shall be mine. All eternity I will be by your side. For a love so strong cannot be denied. Spirit and flesh merged into one. So mote it be, for all days to come.”
When he was done with the recitation, he kissed her. Not just a gentle brush, but a deep, passionate embrace that left her throat tight and her heart pounding with a familiar
“I’ve never heard that poem before,” she said once she’d caught her breath. “Who are you quoting?”
Even in the moonlight, she could see him blush. “I guess I was quoting myself. It was really more of an incantation than a poem though. These necklaces are meant to be a symbol of our love, and it seemed a little spell work could only add to the power of the stones. There is power in words, Becca. Just like there is power in nature.”
“You mean, you wrote that?”
He nodded, but his eyes twinkled, and the playfulness was back in his voice. “Well, actually, I just made it up as I went along.”
“Wow. Actor, singer, and now an improv poet slash chant writer. Is there anything you can’t do, Lord Justyn?”
He smiled and tilted her chin so he could look into her eyes. “I can’t stop loving you."
