Characters – where do they come from? Are they based on someone we know, or do we invent them out of thin air? Just some of the questions people ask authors. I can only speak for myself, and the answer for me is they come from many places.
Sometimes a name nags away at me. Take Nat. She started as Talia, a name I really liked. Until I realised I had a character called Yulia – too close.
