5 Ways to Junk Your Prosthetic Happiness

Pills_of_Hapiness_by_carola_jEditor’s Note: This is a contribution byPatrick Del Rosario.

We live in a material world and if you’re tired of being stuck in the rat race, you may be in a situation where you’ve settled for prosthetic happiness.

Prosthetic happiness can be defined as the type of happiness that is man-made, the happiness that’s imposed on us through the media in the form of advertising and celebrity-endorsed lifestyles that promote greed, lust, and competitiveness. We live in a world where things are often pla...

Happiness Is A Question Of Balance

balanceHappiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony. Thomas Merton

I never liked things which were standard, mediocre and balanced. When young I hated compromises and preferred different extremes.Even now, I prefer life with ups and downs instead of stable life full of grey days.

But at the same time…

There are some aspects which when imbalanced make life difficult and unhappy. So which are the couples, which are difficult but very important to keep in balance?

1. Care...

7 Things That Will Keep The Panic Away

panic-attacksUsually I am pretty good at self-control and don’t panic often… but not always. Sometimes it is not the case. When problems appear out of nowhere and I am not prepared to face them I panic.

How do I know that?

Well, my brain stops functioning, the air does not seem to be enough and I get upset. On top of it all I start thinking that life is unfair, that disasters come my way and that this was possibly the worst time it could happen.

Since at those moments I can’t think straight, I decided to wri...

It Is Never Too Late or 6 Things You Can Do Anytime

too lateHave you ever thought how stereotypical do many people think about life? You have to go to college, find a good job, make a career, get married, have children…. the list goes on…

Not only they have a vision of what has to be done, but they also put age limits to it. Become a manager before 35, have a baby before 40…. etc.

Maybe that is why as a result many of us end up with the concept of ‘’too late’’. We think that for anything that gets beyond that age limits is already too late to do…

Well yo...

10 Reasons To Welcome Criticism

thumbdown“To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.”―Aristotle

I wrote my first novel few months ago. For the first time I wrote fiction, which was longer than 3 pages. But that is not what I would like to write about today.

After finishing the novel I let it ‘’sleep’’ in my computer for months. Only very few close people were provided with the draft to read (i.e. the people, who most probably would not be able to provide objective feedback). No one else…

It was not because I did not want t...

5 Reasons You Get Stuck (and what to do about them)

stuck_by_psychic_pineapple-d2zdvv0

Photoby~psychic-pineapple

It’s been more than a month since I wrote in this blog. The reason was not lack of time. It wasn’t lack of desire either. I intended to write… many times…

The reason was that for the first time I could not do it. I could not write.

Hours were spent staring at the monitor with blank look and empty mind. Nothing came out and all ideas decided to play hide and seek with me.

I was stuck!

It made me panic. It made me feel depressed and insecure. It was completely uncomfortable...

The Value of Your Money: And How To Spend It Too

I believe that money is not the most important aspect of our lives.

I believe that there are many things which are more important and I agree with the fact that money can’t buy happiness…

BUT…

I cannot ignore what important role it plays and how much it enriches and simplifies our lives.

Unfortunately sometimes we are so absorbed by chasing money that we do not realize how much we are sacrificing for it in the process. Sometimes it costs us too much. Financial success may cost us our health, our...
