It's Official!!!

Well everyone, it's official. After months of determining on where I wanted my writing career to go, I've made the decision to go the traditional route with my book career. Today, it was announced that I am officially a part of the Write House family under "Tiece Presents!"

First, I have to say that it's a honor to be apart of this publication, especially since Tiece is one of my favorite authors (I love the Drunk in Love series with her and Cole Hart), so this is truly a blessing to be under her wing.

I can't give all the details yet, but I can say that the first book under Write House will be Resisting Temptation. But not to worry, Redemption will still be released next month; in fact, that will be the final book as an indie author. The Love Chronicles and Simply Love will still be released, but they will be delayed somewhat. More likely, Simply Love will be released after Resisting Temptation, but that might change.

This has been an amazing journey as an indie author and I have you all to thank. Thank you all for giving an unknown author a chance to grace your Kindles and Nooks with my stories. I really hope as I begin a new chapter in my writing career that you all continue with me as I plan to deliver even more stories to you all.

Again, thank you! :-)

From the first moment I'd laid eyes on Shawn Walker, I never thought he would be the love of my life. In the three years we have been together, we have been through so much, and I couldn’t imagine anyone else I would have wanted by my side. Now, we’re about to experience another event that has us both in shock. Will we be able to get through this one together, or will it end up destroying our relationship?

Shawn:
I never thought I would experience love again until Riana Robertson entered my life. The two of us have been through hell and back, but we’re still standing. Now that I've graduated Shaw and heading into the real world, I have a lot of responsibility, not just for myself, but for my growing family. With all of the issues surrounding Riana and me, will we slowly lose sight of the love we have for each other, or will it strengthen us as a couple?

Sneak Peek: Love Always

Here is an unedited sneak peek to the prologue from Love Always. This is from Riana's POV.

December, 2014

I watched as Monica Taylor leave with Donnell Patterson and smiled. Those two have been through so much together. From their constant arguing to their various break-ups, they finally were able to talk out their problems and are pretty happy. I know our friends are still in denial that they will still be together, but I have faith in them. Now that they’re moving in together, it shows that they are being serious that their relationship will last.

I glanced over at Shawn Walker and he smiled. I still can’t believe how our relationship has grown. When I first laid eyes on him in our Introduction to Journalism class, I truly despised him. Although I couldn’t deny my attraction for him, his arrogance made me run the other direction. Well, that, and I didn’t want to fall in love again. But once we were both able to let down our guard, we were able to love each other, which I’m truly happy for.

He wrapped his arms around me and kissed my cheek. “So, does the offer still stands.”

My heart started to beat furiously. I didn’t know what to do. A couple of days before Monica made her announcement about moving in with Donnell, Shawn asked me to do the same. Since his brother, Marcus, moved out of their apartment to stay in the house their parents gave him with my cousin Cheryl Thompson, he immediately asked. Honestly, I don’t think this is a great idea, but since we’re always together, it might not be too bad to be with him every day and night.

“Do you really think it’s a great idea? Since Monica moved out and I might, what would Britney do?”

“Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.” Britney Lewis said as she wrapped an arm around my brother, Jayden. After I told him about potentially moving in with Shawn, he had an uneasy expression on his face. He still had one while staring at me.

“What are you going to do?”

“I might try and get my own place. I’ll convince my parents for a one-bedroom.”

“You sure your dad will agree?” Jayden asked.

“He might. He’s been pretty easy-going lately, so it’s a possibility.”

“Then it set. What do you say, Ri?”

“I still need to tell my mom and you need to tell your parents.”

“You know my parents. I told them and they don’t have a problem with it. They know we’re always together anyway.”

“Shawn…”

“If you don’t want to, just say so. I won’t be disappointed.”

I stared at him and touched his cheek. How could I say no to him? I stared into his brown eyes, which instantly made me melt. I loved his eyes. I could look into them all day and all night.

I touched his mocha-colored cheek and smiled. “Okay.”

He smiled and kissed me. “When did you want to move in?”

“We can soon. The lease is up in a couple of days. I’ll inform the office that Britney and I are not renewing it.”

“Don’t we need at least 30 days to inform them?” Britney asked.

“We do, but this is a special situation.” I said.

“If you need to pay the remaining amount in your lease, then I’ll cover it.” Shawn said.

I glanced at him while Britney raised an eyebrow. “Seriously.”

“Yes. I do have money saved, plus I have money from my internship, so it’s no big deal.”

“Baby, that’s something I needed to ask. Since Marcus was paying for the apartment…”

“That’s something else you don’t have to worry about. I got everything covered. Marcus paid the apartment up until the middle of the semester, and more likely, the news station will be offering me a position after my internship, so you don’t have to worry about getting a job; if that what you were going to suggest.”

I sighed. Maybe this will work out after all. If needed, then I would get a job. Since college housing and financial aid paid for majority of the apartment I was in now, I didn’t really have to get a job; but since Shawn’s apartment is off-campus and pretty swanky, I knew I would have to; but if he insist I won’t need a job, then I would consider it. Not right now, anyway.

“Okay. We can come on campus one day during the break and move everything out.”

“Great. I’m really happy about this.” Shawn said.

“I am too.”

Shawn hugged me and I sighed. Although I was happy about my decision, why I had a feeling we were getting in over our heads? I knew I shouldn’t think like that, but there was a feeling in the pit of my stomach telling me otherwise. Right now, I’ll just have to take things day by day and hopefully I won’t have this feeling anymore. Besides, what could possibly happen between us? We loved each other too much for things to become out of control. If it does, we’ll work through them. We always have and that will never change.

Or so I hope….

It's Release Day!!!

The wait is finally over! The Way We Were is now available on Amazon!!!

Monica:

I'd always been unlucky with love. No matter how much I've tried to experience it, something always happens to make me turn away. When I was with Donnell Patterson, I believed I finally had a chance at it, but I ended up destroying it by being selfish. Now, I have a second chance with Zack Hall. He’s a woman’s dream – smart, generous, and sexy as hell. But now that I’m with someone else, why does Donnell keep coming back into my thoughts? Should I let go of the past, and start with someone new, or go back to the person that I’ve always considered my one true love?

Donnell:

Monica Taylor and I have had our shares of ups and downs. Honestly, we had more downs than ups. But no matter what we did to each other, we always found our way back to each other; but she did the unthinkable when she tried to hook up with Marcus Walker. Now, I’m with someone new, who makes me really happy. Dominique Sawyer is amazing; not only is she smart and beautiful, but she's also drama-free. But if she’s so perfect, why do I keep thinking about the person who has continuously broke my heart?

Preview: The Way We Were

Here is the preview of the prologue from The Way We Were. The book will be released next Friday, September 26th, but is now available for pre-order on Amazon!!

August, 2012

“I can’t believe you dragged me out tonight.”

“Why not? This is the last night before our classes start, so of course I’m going to have some fun.”

I glared at my friend, Cassandra Morris, and sighed. Figured she would, considering she never cared about school anyway. She was just attending college to get away from her parents.

I sighed; I had been away from my family for a week now, and I was already homesick. If I was feeling like this now, I probably wouldn't even survive the semester. When I applied to Shaw, I only did so because it was an hour away from home, just in case I wanted to leave and go to a school in Houston. But I made up my mind to actually enjoy the time I had here, so I planned to; I hoped.

Cassandra looked at me. “Stop being a Debbie Downer. You’re going to have fun tonight. You might even meet a fine man to talk to.”

“I doubt it.” I sighed.

Since I’d known her, I realized that men were Cassandra’s weakness. She never cared about anything else. I hope I don’t fall into that trap. I’ve been boyfriend-free for the past three months, mainly because of what happened with the guy I'd been seeing, Jason Hardaway. I still can’t believe he had been cheating on me with my friend’s cousin. He’d been seeing the both of us for months. And to think, I wanted to be friends with her. Well, that ship has sailed.
“I have been thinking, though. I’m giving myself this semester to stay in school; if I don’t like it, I’ll leave to travel the world.”

I shook my head at Cassandra. “Are you serious?”

“Yeah, why not. We only live once, so we might as well enjoy the time we have. You know I’m not the school type. I barely passed high school, so why would I want to continue with college?”
“Do your parents know?”

“No, but they’ll know once they receive the credit card statement for the tickets I purchase.”
I rolled my eyes. This girl is hopeless.

She pulled into a parking spot at the club, and we got out of the car. I looked around; getting a little excited at the idea I was at a club near the college town. Maybe Cassandra was right; I might actually meet someone tonight.

After the bouncer checked our IDs, we were inside. The place was packed as I tried to get through a couple who were slow grinding on each other. I turned up my nose. With the way they were moving, they might as well just take their clothes off and have sex on the dance floor.

Cassandra smiled. “Now, I don’t know why you’re making that face. You’re not that innocent, Monica.”

“I think there are some things that should be left in the bedroom.”

“If you insist.”

I looked over near the bar and saw a couple of guys talking. I continued staring at one, and he was now looking directly at me. Cassandra looked over at him and smiled.

“Hmm, he’s fine. Go talk to him.”

“I don’t think so.”

“Please, girl. Go have some fun, because I’m definitely about to,” she said, while looking at one of his friends. She went over to the bar, leaving me alone. I sighed, went over to a table and sat down. I moved my head to the beat, wishing I was out on the floor, dancing with someone.

“Looks like you’re enjoying this song.”

I looked up and saw the same guy I'd been gawking at earlier. My heart started to beat faster at the sight of him. Damn, he’s gorgeous! His hazel eyes stared directly into mine, while his chocolate brown skin glowed under the club lights. I was already imagining his strong arms around me, his lips touching my skin, and his medium-built frame moving against my body, which already had me soaking wet.

“Yeah. This is one of my favorite songs.”

“Cool. I see your friend is already talking to one of my friends.”

“Yeah; Cassandra doesn’t waste anytime with anything. If she sees something she wants, she goes for it.”

“Are you saying you’re not like that?”

“I am with certain things.”

“What if I say I’m the same way?”

I glanced at him and smiled. “Are you saying you’re doing that now?”

“Most definitely. I’m Donnell,” he said, extending his hand to me.

“Monica,” I replied, accepting his handshake.

“I have to say, you are beautiful.”

“Thank you.”

“You want to dance?”

I nodded as I put my hand in his and went out onto the floor. Hopefully, I’ll be able to talk to him more after our dance; like Cassandra said, I have to live in the moment, and that’s exactly what I was doing.

***

After we were on the dance floor for almost an hour, it was time for me to take a break. We went over to the bar and sat down. While he ordered a beer, I declined, figuring I didn’t need any type of drink from a man. If I wanted to do anything, it would be on my judgment and not anyone else’s.
“Are you enjoying yourself?”

“Definitely. Thanks for hanging out with me, especially since my friend ditched me.”

“No problem; I enjoyed spending time with you.”

I smiled when he touched my shoulder. A tingle rushed through me as he glanced into my eyes.

“You want to get out of here? Maybe we could find somewhere to talk.”

I sighed. I knew where this was heading.

“I don’t think so.”

“Why not? If you think I only want to sleep with you, then you’re wrong; even though that thought has crossed my mind several times.”

“I’m sure. Listen, Donnell, I think you’re a great guy, but I barely know you, so I won’t be going anywhere with you. In fact, I need to find Cassandra.”

He nodded, while I pulled out my phone. I noticed there was a text from her. I guess I didn’t get it since I was dancing. I sighed and put my phone back into my clutch.

“What’s wrong?”

“Evidently, Cassandra wanted to bone your friend, so she left with him. She was my ride to the dorm.”

Donnell drank the rest of his beer. “So how do you feel about going somewhere?”

I sighed. “Sure.”

He smiled, tipped the bartender, and took my hand.

“Let’s enjoy the rest of our evening.”

I smiled as we left the club, not knowing what to expect with the rest of the evening with Donnell Patterson…
