National poem day!
The Charge Of The Light Brigade
by Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Memorializing Events in the Battle of Balaclava, October 25, 1854 Written 1854
Half a league half a league, Half a league onward, All in the valley of Death Rode the six hundred: ‘Forward, the Light Brigade! Charge for the guns’ he said: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred.
‘Forward, the Light Brigade!’ Was there a man dismay’d ? Not tho’ the soldier knew Some one had blunder’d: Theirs not to make reply, Theirs not to reason why, Theirs but to do & die, Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley’d & thunder’d; Storm’d at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred.
Flash’d all their sabres bare, Flash’d as they turn’d in air Sabring the gunners there, Charging an army while All the world wonder’d: Plunged in the battery-smoke Right thro’ the line they broke; Cossack & Russian Reel’d from the sabre-stroke, Shatter’d & sunder’d. Then they rode back, but not Not the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon behind them Volley’d and thunder’d; Storm’d at with shot and shell, While horse & hero fell, They that had fought so well Came thro’ the jaws of Death, Back from the mouth of Hell, All that was left of them, Left of six hundred.
When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made! All the world wonder’d. Honour the charge they made! Honour the Light Brigade, Noble six hundred!

Burton signing.
Ay’ up again!
So it was the Burton Library signing last Saturday but I went on holiday so I didnt have time to upload the pics and blog about it.
Now, its flying ant season so I’m not going outside meaning I have all the time in the world to do it.
I’ll post the pics when i’ve learned to resize them!
Saturday- it was the signing as I wrote, it was a great experiance!
Big thanks to everyone who helped/ came!!
Also a massive thanks to Jane, who did an amzing reading!! Thank you!!
But me and my mum made the display, and my dad took photos. The display didnt fall down- which was a first for me, but the blue tack was extra sticky!
I sold and signed some books, and found somewhere I could get a large dose of caffine from a cuppa’ tea!
I met some cool folks, and the day zoomed by!!
Musings- if anything is misspelled- i’m so so so so sorry!!

Newspaper
Hi again! So this week I was in the news paper with my MIND book signing.
But they do this 5 minutes with thing, and yesterday it was ‘five minutes with Sophie!’
So this was the artical:
Born and Bred.
I was born in Burton, but I moved to Swadlincote where I’ve lived since I was three years old.
Hobbies.
One of my favourite things to do is grow Cacti. I have a few now and my collection is growing slowly.
I also do photography as a hobby and baking! But I never eat the cakes once I’ve made them; I feed them to my friends and family.
Favourite book.
I don’t actually have a favourite book, but I do have favourite authors such as Jacqueline Wilson. I prefer the classic books because they’re always the originals because they’re the original tales which have inspired generations of writers.
Favourite film.
I have a few favourite films; Crazy, Stupid Love; Bad Teacher; Despicable Me. I usually like the films due to the actors in them such as Steve Carell, Emma Stone and Cameron Diaz.
Favourite food.
Peaches win every time.
Proudest moment.
Probably when I won a certificate for breaking and bending my glasses… no I’m joking. My proudest moment was probably when my friends and I survived secondary school and got the grades wanted to get in to the places we all wanted to go!
Most embarrassing moment.
I’m a klutz, so I’m always falling over fresh air and dropping things in the middle of a crowd, so I don’t think I can really narrow down all the silly things I’ve done to one.
Biggest inspiration.
I’ve been lucky to have a lot of inspirational people around me, so I don’t think I could single out one of them. Lots of people have inspired me to do well in life and succeed.
Hopes for the future.
I don’t really plan ahead, I’ve learned to take a day at a time and see what the future has in store for me, so all I hope for is for the people around me to be well and happy.
Biggest/best achievement.
Getting my book published is probably my best and biggest achievement.
If you ruled the world…
There probably wouldn’t be a world left to rule…
Pet hate.
Things not being arranged in alphabetical/ genre order!
Greatest love.
My friends and my family are my greatest love, but I really love my hamster, Camille!
Favourite belonging.
My IPod, Laptop, or organiser!
Perfect night in/out.
My perfect night is a hot shower, great film, and a cup of tea!
My perfect night out is a nice place, buffet food and good music!
What will your epitaph say.
Don’t forget to water the Cacti, and don’t you dare put those DVD’s out of alphabetical order!!
Musings: They cut a bit out though, so this is the original version!

MIND
Yesterday I was at the Swadlincote MIND shop for a charity signing!
I’d raised money before the event, and me being me, decided to do it on the hottest day of the year- so far, so the place was DEAD!

MIND shop
It was a good morning, and what was real great was the volenteers!
A photographer from the local paper came too!

Camera shy!
I also want to say- if you’ve ever experianced any problems with your mental health, visit MIND’s offical website for advice and help, because no matter how small and stupid it might seem to you, its still important to them!!

1st signing.
Hey again!
Its the day before i’m at MIND, and i’ve been going through my organised check list.
I need books, pens, website adresses, a place to hide, and myself- it helps if i’m there apparently.
I’m nervous, but its expected.

My 1st blog post!
3rd July 2013.
Hi! I’m Sophie Wilkinson, writer of ‘The Beginning,’ and this is my blog!
Last month it was the prelaunch, and all of my friends and family (minus a few) came to celebrate with me!
It took a while to set up, and I was MEGA nervous. I spent half of the night in the kitchen pacing back and forth!

Yum!
This was the cake I made! Bonus- no one ended up with food poisoning…
I did a speech and shook throughout the entire thing- i’m still hoping no one noticed!

This is where I also hid!
Yeah, there are a few other places I hid too, like under a table and behind a door, and occasionally behind my Uncle Brian. But, hey, I’m shy!

Uncle Brian! All the way from Scotland!

Its the Turners!

HillBillys!

Some of the chums!
And there are PLENTY more, but some of these people will actually murder me if any unwanted photos fnd there way on to here…

Here’s one of me and Dad!
Musing- if this has been posted eight times or more- sorry! I’m still learning how to use this!
Have a good day!
