My Week in Review and Writing Links
[image error]Hello everyone. Happy Friday. Another week is done with. I can’t believe how close to Christmas we are now … less than a month! How prepared are you? I had a marathon wrapping day yesterday, and apart from a scarf and beanie I need to finish knitting, I’m done … phew.
Not so good news on the physiotherapy front. Because of my frozen shoulder, I cannot do all the hip exercises needed (the arm and shoulder prevent a lot of movements and postures). Also, the physio has said she cannot do any more for the shoulder, as it is getting worse no matter what we do. So, I had an x-ray on Friday afternoon last week, and it will take 2 to 3 weeks for the results to come back. I am also scheduled for a steroid injection into the shoulder on the 19th of December, so here’s everything crossed that brings some relief. Because of all that, if I’m not around online as much as usual, this is why. It hurts. (Even working on the iPad!) Anyway, enough on that! On to better things …
It’s been a good writing week too, with more flash fiction stories completed as well as steady progress on the novel.
We in the UK got battered with Storm Diana for Tuesday and Wednesday, and the strong winds kept me confined indoors. Once, I went out in winds like that, and the gusts not only took my sticks out from under me but also lifted my false leg, lol. That felt surreal, having my leg lift without my volition, and it’s a heavy thing too! (There’s a creepy story in there somewhere, I’m sure.)

My Week in Review and Writing Links
[image error]Hello everyone. Happy Friday. Well, it’s the middle of November, and the year is racing away from us. I swear time has grown jet engines. Maybe that’s a sign of getting older too. I remember as a kid, the school summer holidays seemed to last forever …
More slow-and-steady writing done this week. I’m having to take extra care as I have a painful arm and shoulder from an old injury that is playing up again. Despite exercises and physio, it seems determined to get worse. Smooth supermarket floors, squashed grapes, and walking with crutches are not a great combination. Now, years later, I’m revisiting that torn muscle. Not fun. At least, as I wrote last week, I can still manage 500 words a day. Always a silver lining!

It’s a Kicker on Veteran’s Day
Hello everyone,
Today, it gives me great pleasure to introduce Kicker, a book dedicated to veterans. For this Veteran’s weekend, it is FREE on Amazon (9th, 10th, & 11th November).
Here’s the blurb:
World War II is raging. A young father must choose between his family and duty to his country- a decision that could cost him everything.
Based on actual experiences of United States veterans and official military aviation history records from World War II, this is the thrilling story of a family’s journey into war. While his loved
ones struggle with shortages and rationing at home, Sam endures relentless Japanese attacks against his unarmed aircraft over the treacherous mountains and torrid jungles of Asia. His job is to
drop supplies to Merrill’s Marauders and over 750,000 allied soldiers fighting in the perilous jungles of Burma. If the enemy is not stopped, the American
way of life will end. If you like non-stop action with a touch of humor and romance and the chance to learn about the
“forgotten front ” of WWII, then this is the book for you.

Author Bio:
R Grey Hoover is an Air Force veteran with a family tradition of military service that dates back to the American revolution. He wrote his book “Kicker the forgotten front” to honor his father and the other veterans of World War II who fought in the China-Burma-India (CBI) theatre. During the war, the European and Pacific theatres got most of the supplies and media attention leaving the CBI theatre with the leftovers. Even in today’s media coverage of World War II the CBI theatre is never mentioned. The author’s book is an attempt to correct this gross oversight.

My Week in Review and Writing Links
[image error]Hello everyone. Happy Friday! Well, the weather has certainly turned wetter and windier this last week. I miss the freezing but sunny days, lol.
I’ve made steady writing progress this week. It’s surprising how much just 500 words every day over five days add up over the weeks. Limiting the novel to this count allows me time to plot a few scenes ahead of where I’m at, as well as giving attention to my short stories in progress, and I’m enjoying it a lot more than banging out a high daily word count as I have done in the past. And then there’s life too. I’ve done more wedding planning/organising this week, and I can’t believe it’s now less than six months away. Where is the time going?
Have a great weekend, everyone. Here are this week’s writing links:

My Week in Review and Writing Links
Hello everyone, Happy Friday!
I can’t believe another week has gone past already. On Saturday, we went to our six-month wedding interview at the planned venue, which all went wonderfully. On the half-hour drive there, we met sleet, hailstone, and then a full-on snowstorm, lol. When we left home, it was bright sunshine! Talk about all seasons in one day. The temperatures plummeted overnight from double figures to 1 degree C, so we really felt the difference. It’s stayed at freezing temperatures all week. We’ve been thrown from a very warm October into scraping ice off the cars in the mornings.
On the writing front, I’m continuing to make steady progress on the novel in progress and the short fiction. It seems allowing myself time off the novels and alternating with short fiction is the key for me at the moment. This week’s quote seems relevant to a few people I know.
Well, that’s it from me. Here’s the writing links and resources for this week.

The Emissary 2: To Love Somebody is Now Available on Amazon
Hello everyone! Today, it gives me great pleasure to have author Marcia Meara come and visit to showcase her new book …
Thank you so much, Harmony, for having me here today on your blog. I’m so happy to be sharing my latest release, The Emissary 2: To Love Somebody, with you and your followers.
This is the Middle Child of my Emissary trilogy, and I found it interestingly tricky to write a novella that bridged the gap between Book 1 and Book 3, yet was entertaining in its own right. I hope I’ve managed to make that work. For me, it was just as much fun to hang out with Jake, Dodger, and Azrael this time around as it was the first, especially since they spent so much time traveling the highways of Florida, visiting places I’m very familiar with. Hopefully, the blurb and short excerpt below will tempt some of your followers to ride along in Jake’s big red and white semi, and see just what kinds of trouble Jake and Dodger can get up to. All I can say is, it’s a good thing they have an angel on their side.
Both Book 1 and Book 2 of the trilogy are quick, easy reads, which are definitely not meant to be viewed as any sort of religious dogma. Rather, they are merely excursions into a bit of “what-if-ery,” with a few nuggets of universal truths scattered throughout.
When I get the third novella of this trilogy finished, I’ll be combining all three into a set I can offer in print as well as eBook format. But for now, folks looking for a bit of Urban Fantasy Lite can download Books 1 and 2 and find out for themselves exactly what’s expected from the world’s first Emissaries to the Angels.
Note: I do need to point out that The Emissary 2: To Love Somebody is the middle book of the Emissary Trilogy, and not a stand-alone novella. With that in mind, Book 1, The Emissary, can be downloaded HERE.
BLURB
They’re back!
Jake and Dodger, the first (and so far, only) Emissaries to the Angels, are on the road again.
They’re looking for mortals about to take a wrong turn. You know the ones—the kid thinking about stealing from a corner market or the man planning to lie about a coworker and destroy her career. Yeah, them. People on the brink of making a mistake that could send them down that wrong road and jeopardize their mortal souls.
Of course, there are rules by which the emissaries must play, and the archangel Azrael stands ready to enforce them. First and foremost, a person’s free will must never be compromised. Emissaries are allowed to use only the smallest of mental nudges. Thankfully, a whispered suggestion here or images of a better course of action there is usually all it takes. The potential mugger walks on by. The thief drops the wallet back into the unattended purse. But whether the results are obvious or not, Jake and Dodger are fully committed to making a positive difference, even as they struggle with issues of their own.
Will Dodger get over losing his chance to learn what true love is all about? Will Jake survive the grueling angelic equivalent of Boot Camp? Will Azrael ever finish the Official Emissarial Guidebook—including the chapter titled Do Not Even Think About It?
One thing’s for sure—Jake’s and Dodger’s strengths are growing daily, as they help more and more people make better choices. But is the price for so much power higher than they’re willing to pay?
EXCERPT
(Jake, Dodger, and the archangel Azrael)
Dumbfounded by the angel’s apology, Jake sat stunned. Dodger, however, reacted very differently.
“Whoa, whoa. Wait a minute. You’re not serious, are you? You, telling us you’re sorry? After everything you’ve done for us? I mean, yeah, we have a problem we need your help with, for sure, but no way you gotta be apologizing to us for not gettin’ here sooner. We might not be able to understand all the stuff you have on your plate, but we know it’s full. We agreed to do this because we wanna make a difference in the world, and we knew goin’ in it wouldn’t be easy. I’m the one who should be sorry, here. I was bitchin’ and moanin’ about a few days’ wait, when you’re off somewhere trying to keep people from killin’ each other wholesale, and I’m sorry for that. I was being a pain in the ass … er, neck.”
“Well said, Dodger. Azrael, in spite of our grumblings, we do understand that we are only one small part of what you do—what you’ve done for centuries upon centuries. We want to do our jobs right, and yes, we will need your help now and then, especially since we’re still learning. But we’re more grateful than we can say that you chose us to be your emissaries. The job isn’t always easy, but I’m pretty sure I speak for both of us when I say we don’t regret taking it on, at all. Not even when you can’t respond to us as quickly as we might wish. We know you won’t abandon us and will come when you can, and we don’t expect you to apologize for being busy with other affairs of the world.”
The three of them were quiet for a minute, then Dodger couldn’t stand the silence any longer. “Well, now that you’re here and all, have you figured out what we’re going to do about training?” He shrugged at Jake. “What? He’s sittin’ right here, so we may as well find out what’s goin’ on, right?”
Azrael made an odd sound deep down in his chest. Jake stared. Dodger stared. The noise turned into a chuckle and the chuckle, into a surprisingly hearty laugh. When he caught his breath, he bestowed his beautiful smile on the boy. “You are a priceless gem, Dodger.” The angel shook his head and chuckled once more. “In all the centuries of my existence, I have never been spoken to as though I were simply another mortal.”
Dodger bit his lower lip. “Um … is that a good thing?”
“In your case, I think yes. But do not let it go to your head.”

My Week in Review and Writing Links
Hello everyone. Happy Friday! Tonight we have relatives from Australia staying with us ready for beginning their travels home on Saturday. Then on Saturday, we have the six-month interview at our wedding venue … I can’t believe where the last six months have gone, lol.
It’s been a productive week here, despite my arm and shoulder still being awful. I have to limit the mouse-work on the computer, but otherwise the virus and the back pain have gone, yay! More achieved on my WIP as well as Flash Fiction stories and short stories. I came up with a descriptive line I adore on my WIP; here’s the paragraph …
‘Emotions grew around the visual memory like mould. Unwanted and poisonous. He had been but a boy. Young and weak and ignorant. He hadn’t known the way of the world. Not back then. And still, the old feelings held him prisoner so that he could not simply walk away from the woman bleeding out on the dirt floor.’
I’ve chosen this week’s quote for inspiration, and also because Mr Bradbury says ‘most’ of his friends. Even on that great diet, nothing is guaranteed. I’m writing because I love it. Reading too. Anything else is a bonus

My Week in Review and Writing Links
Hello everyone! Happy Friday! I had a slow start to the week with Monday being my first full day out of bed since Friday morning. The flu really knocked me off my feet. While I still feel exhausted and my arms still ache, I’m definitely a lot better. Thank you all for your well wishes.
I’ve written about 2,200 words on my novel in progress, as well as generated ideas and written story beginnings on 20 flash fictions, which will finish at 500 words each.
As an aside, I had a gruesome time searching Pixabay for an image to go with this week’s quote, having put in ‘Monsters’, lol. Feeling a bit squeamish, I soon replaced the search term with ‘ghosts’!

My Week in Review and Writing Links
Hello everyone! Happy Friday. I’m so ready for the weekend, but unfortunately, it looks like it will be a busy one. I have been having issues with my back again this week, as well as one of my shoulders, and the changeable weather is playing havoc with the damaged nerves in my residual limb. Which all means I haven’t done so much computer related work. It’s been a week of knitting and reading, mostly, lol. On a happy note, I’ve got the shelves up to cover that huge wall where we took out the window, and below is a pic of the work in progress. As well as filling the shelves, we also have some pictures and other bits n bobs to fill up that white space …
Have a great weekend everyone, and here are this week’s writing links …
