True Vows Contest
The launch of HCI's True Vows is almost here. In case you don't know, this is the new reality-based romance line. I'm writing one called VICTORIA'S GOT A SECRET – isn't that a great title? – and it will be out in March 2011. But you don't have to wait to test out the line. You can check out Judith Arnold's MEET ME IN MANHATTAN or Julie Leto's HARD TO HOLD.
Or you can leave a comment here and win a copy of Alison Kent's ICING ON THE CAKE. Let me know your thoughts on reality-based romance ...

Wish List
I have a lot of books on my I-must-buy-that-as-soon-as-it-comes-out list. I added one yesterday. It's PRECIOUS AND FRAGILE THINGS by Megan Hart. I think Megan is the best erotic romance author I've read. She takes risks and many times leaves me feeling uncomfortable and somewhat heartbroken when I finish one of her books. I know that sounds like a bad thing, but it's not. It's a very good thing.
This book looks like it's mainstream fiction. It sounds pretty brilliant, and that's not a ...

Foreign Cover
I didn't know I'd sold the Thai rights to HOT AS HELL, but I did! May, a fabulous reader who keeps me updated on Thai covers, sent me this one this morning:

Photo: Bainbridge
One of my favorite places is Bainbridge Island, Washington. It's a ferry ride from Seattle. I'd move there in a second. Well, I would if someone in my household had a job there (no one does) and my hubby would agree (not likely since he's a big fan of sunshine). Last time we were there we spent a few days in NYT bestseller Susan Wiggs' guest cottage. It was amazing.
Here's a photo of me with Susan. That's her backyard, by the way. I'm envious every time I look at this:

Snippet Saturday
I somehow missed the snippet topic for today, so I'm going with an excerpt from my upcoming release, IMPULSIVE. Take one dedicated attorney, add in a wild child woman in a short skirt and you get fireworks.
Eric locked the door. "Do you really plan to tell your sister everything about us?"
The poor guy sounded a little nervous. He hadn't reached the throw-up-on-the-floor level yet, but Katie could tell by the grim line of his mouth that he was getting close. "I do believe you're...

Forgot!
I bet you're thinking I forgot to pick a winner for my monthly blog contest. Well, yeah, that's exactly what happened. I wrote a check this morning and realized it was the 2nd. Guess it's a good thing I had that little plumbing disaster this morning after all. I know it worked out great for the plumber. Not so much for my checkbook.
Anyway…
The winner of the August contest is Mary G (comment #1 from the August 22nd post). Congratulations!!!

Stephen King
I was reading an article about Stephen King yesterday. Seems a woman ran her car into his house's security gate, causing something like $100,000 in damage. She wasn't a crazed fan. This really was an accident, but the article mentioned a few non-accidents at the King home:
In 1991, a man broke in while King's wife, author Tabitha King, was home alone at the distinctive home, which is surrounded by an iron fence and gates with gargoyles and interwoven designs of spiders and webs. She ran to...

One of the gifts my parents gave me is a love of travel. They recognized my wanderlust and encouraged me (ie paid for me) to travel overseas from the time I was 12. My hubby loves to travel even more than I do. Together we've been to some amazing and fun place, some close to home and others halfway around the world. With all that in mind I've decided to start something new. Every Monday I'm going to post a photo from our household collection, vacation and others.
This week is the view f...

Snippet Saturday
This week's topic is holiday. I've written two Christmas novellas, so I decided to pick one of those. I went with my novella, "It's Hotter At Christmas" in the KISSING SANTA CLAUS anthology. This book was a Cosmo "Red-Hot Read" and excerpted in the magazine. The title of the article was…wait for it…Officer Naughty. I love that.
Marissa leaned her head against Ted's shoulder. "We're not going to get much eating done if you keep doing that."
He was counting on that. "Soon, but you...

Pre-Order Time
It's that time…
GUNS AND THE GIRL NEXT DOOR (Intrigue, Jan. 2011) and GUNNING FOR TROUBLE (Intrigue, Feb. 2011) are up for pre-order at Amazon. These are the first two in a miniseries of four. The books are related to my very first Intrigue, UNDER THE GUN, and follow the other operatives of the Recovery Project. Luke, the hero in UNDER THE GUN, plays a significant role in the miniseries. So, if you liked him before get ready to see more of him now.
