Resisting Your Resistance
You’ve been conditioned from family and society, but you can find vast, rich learning once you start to dissect the roots of resistance. We want you to stop resisting your resistance and find information in what you are experiencing. It’s as simple as that, do not resist your resistance. Really feel that feeling through all of your wellbeing and dive into the curiosity about your resistance. When we are experiencing resistance, it is a sign of needing re-alignment. It can be a means to a greater good, and it must be embraced. Remain curious about that resistance and through the […]

Radical Changes
Do you find yourself feeling confined to social norms and as if you’re just going through the motions? Are you ready to renew your relationship with your own physical body and float with us to the other dimension? It is important to ask yourself regularly, “What is my journey today, what lights me up today, what feels right in my body for my next communication and actions?” So many people live in a state of sensitivity and do not have strong relationships with their physical body. As you ask these questions you will come deeper into yourself and will find […]

Unexpected Visitors
I often think back to the time the next door “neighbors” made themselves at home in our teaching area. I had recently moved and wasn’t quite used to the sound of heavy metals and whistles from nearby trains and the screams and yips of coyotes wandering in the distance. On this particular night I was abruptly awoken from my deep sleep by a mixture of new sounds and confusion. I jolted awake with a sense of panic that horses had broken through a fence, and gathered fragments of awareness enough to go check on my horses. They were all safe […]

Restored Trust
Once trust is broken can it be repaired, mended, and even create a deeper connection and bond in a relationship? I once learned the answer to this question from Corazon de la Montana, also known as Romeo, and continue to learn more about the importance of trust in a relationship from him. He was a wild horse from the mountains of Montana adapting to the human world at the time. His highly tuned instincts would examine me and my leadership levels each day. I felt as if he knew me better than anyone. Within a year Romeo had learned to […]

Thrilling Lessons in Boundary Setting
Once during a cold northern winter, I headed south to teach with horses in Tucson, Arizona. The day was perfect to be playing with horses, not too hot or too cold, and there was no wind. During this personal development program I was able to work with Evelyn, a therapist from North Carolina that was soft-spoken and often sat with her eyes gazing downward, avoiding visual contact with others in the group. This kind and sensitive soul was preparing to work with a substantial Belgian horse by the name of Rawhide. Rawhide, only five years old at the time, was […]

The Power of Saying Yes
For five years I had my eye on a training program. Each year it would come to Denver and each year I found a reason not to attend. After years of making excuses and putting it off I knew that my whole being would benefit from attending the program—even if I did not know exactly what those benefits were ahead of time. Once I got to this place I was anxious to get started so Instead of booking the program when it would be here locally, I actually booked the program that was taking place in another state. I instinctively […]

What Are the Horses Doing with the Energy We Are Offering Them?
The work that I’ve stepped into in my life has been built on a deeper connection with horse. A connection that has brought on growth that I’m not sure I would have received had I continued to resist the calling I had to work with horse (something I resisted for years before I surrendered to the calling). In my new book, Life Lessons from the Heart of Horses, I explore the many lessons I’ve learned while on this journey. What I’m especially reminded of now after the many challenges the past year and half has presented is the ways in […]

The Difference Between “Being” and “Doing”
During an equine facilitated and coaching workshop in Arizona, I had the privilege of working with a beautiful Percheron named Kairos, the most massive horse I have ever seen, well over seventeen hands. At the workshop, Kairos offered participants an equine learning experience in “being” versus “doing.” When I conduct sessions with clients, the client stands outside and prepares to enter the pen with the horse. I lead them through several questions that help them become more aware of their bodies and the desires held in their hearts. A woman named Darlene’s hope with Kairos was to experience a deep […]

Engaging Flow Receiving Synchronicity
Yesterday’s temperatures cooled down, a warning of the fall to come and a reminder that all of life is full of cycles that never stop. Not one day is the same, nor is an encounter with a horse ever the same as the last. Each moment gives us a choice. We can focus on what was, what is not working, and how painful life can be. Or, we can choose to see what is possible, what lights us up, and the beauty in all things around us. For the last few months, I have been hanging deeply with my horses […]

My first teacher, Hope
When I sat down to write my recent book, Life Lessons from the Heart of Horses: How Horses Teach Us About Relationships and Healing, I was reminded of when horses came into my life. While enjoying a beautiful day on one of the beaches along Oregon’s coast, I witnessed a brilliant spectacle of freedom as I watched a woman ride down the wide sandy beach, bareback, on a beautiful chestnut-colored horse. After introducing myself she invited me to her farm where I met Hope. Within a week or so I was working with Hope while taking lessons from a Natural […]
