Rock and light,
strength and shine,
we are searchers,
explorers, lovers,

curiosity unquenchable,

Firecracker in flesh,
sunlight contained
under skin and smile.

and the sound of music
on a Sunday morning,
the smell of breakfast
riding on the melody.

It is strength that holds

Time is an ineffective metric,
some things cannot be so simply
measured.

Was, is, and will, I say,
when the image of you floats
across the surface
of the dark spaces inside,
resilience built on the embers
of kindness,
they rise as light, they
dance and we call them
stars.

I stand and stare up,
this neck aches, these eyes
flood from following
your sparks.
It’s intensity I stare with,
every difference of every
flame, noticed and treasured.

You burn,
I dance around you.

Time is an ineffective metric,
when you discover fire,
you want it in your
hands.
