Something wild lives in these veins,
unbridled, something free
and untouched by hands
that aim for taming.
Ferocity is pulled
to its reflection in another,
what’s natural in me
to the unrefined
peace below the surfaces,
somewhere soft
between whale song
and wave.
I am the howling
still stuck in my throat,
the savage song I think
I’ve been singing
all my life.
I am the light
of low sun on high
