"Just a little sleep,
just a half breath of silence,
just a drop of rest."

just a drop of rest.”

I know myself now, better than ever before. I know what I want, need, am. I need wild landscape. I need angry sea. I need salt in air and calm in heart. Soon. What do you need?
.
At untamed landscape
and ferocious surging sea
I will point myself.

Saw an article with old photographs of LGBTQ+ couples way back at the turn of the century, late 1800s and early 1900s. These photos were taken in secret and most likely hidden away. Black and white poses filed with joy no one could ever know. Broke my heart a bit, started writing a poem and only this came out. This felt like enough. This is The Never Was #12. Aristophanes once said “Let each (hu)man exercise the art he knows best.” And I couldn’t agree more. It’s writing and photography for me, sets me free. What is it for you?
.
The clatter of keys,
the soft din of creation.
This the art I know.

Today, for one hour (or more), do nothing but rest. One hour of rejuvenation, of allowing yourself a breath to recover from this whirlwind of a year, of a holiday. One hour of peace. Give it to yourself.
.
Just a little sleep,
just a half breath of silence,
just a drop of rest.

We are born. We die. In between, the Oreo cream between the cookies, is all we call life. We choose how we fill it. We choose how we end. We are those choices, how we celebrate them, how we survive them. Make yours count.
.
How we meet our end,
how we fill the middle.
This is who we are.

Happy Christmas to everyone that celebrates it this day. From my family, my big ol evolving family that has grown to hold so many wonderful souls. Remember, no matter what, you are never alone, never. If there’s no one else, I am here. I know this year may be an odd one, this celebration may feel stifled, but light is coming. I promise. Happy Christmas, to all.
.
I can still feel it,
the sleepless apprehension,
of this magic day.

This Eve, the night before the day, this holiday season, make your gift your love, in how you give it, in how you accept it. Give it freely, give it often, give it always. Happy Christmas Eve you beauties, from us to you.
.
Make an art of love,
in all the ways you give it,
in accepting it.

Anyone else feel stuck in a record skip, needle going round and round the same exact track, every day the day before it, the day to come? I sit, I stare out the window, my beard grows longer. I sit, I stare out the window, time stops being real.
.
This day is that day,
that day the one before it.
My beard grows longer.
