Perhaps we should be thankful
for how far astray
this country has been led.
Perhaps we should appreciate
the bright light he shines
onto the dark racist corner
of this land.  
For a time, they seemed hidden
and locked away,
afraid to show themselves,
roaches running from shine,
we could not exterminate
what we could not see.

Now it’s all spotlight
and daytime glow,
every hiding place
they’ve walked away from
and stand proudly
in full view.

Now we can begin
to cure this disease,
now we can fight back
against what was once so
elusive.

Let us begin.
