Another My Christmas Dream Review
Recently, My Christmas Dream received a nice review from Laurencl on NightOwlReviews.com:
"My Christmas Dream" is set in a beautiful back drop in a place called Tuke Valley. It's in Washington state. Marilyn Miles writing style has you feeling as if you're there. With every vivid description you can picture the small farming town, it's beautiful. Readers get a small town love story between the pages of this Christmas set story.
We start out by meeting Jorden aka Jordie. She has lost her job and decides to become part owner of a book store. But things don't turn out well. Her business partner is the worst and always has excuses on why she can't help. Jordie has many battles in her life as she's attending collage, helping her parents with the farm and running a book store. It's just too much. It seems like she will have to give one up. Then along come Gilbert aka Gib who saves her from a nasty accident and also steals her heart with his helping hand attitude.
The description of the environment is amazing. You can almost picture your self there. I was pulled in from the get go. The characters are believe small town forks who fit in the the story so well. Jordie and Gib are described as warm, honest and lovely people who we all wish to be.
The book seemed like it was a true story because of the background. The title comes into play closer to the end of the book. There were a few moments where I was a bit confused and a few chapters that ended too quickly. I had the sense that something more was needed to finish them up.
Something was missing particularly in chapter six and chapter ten. Then in chapter twelve I wondered what happened on the way back?
Overall, an enjoyable story that needed a bit more.

Acapulco Adventure
Sometimes readers wonder where an author gets their inspiration for a story. Acapulco Adventure was inspired by an actual vacation I took there with two of my coworkers--one male, one female--when I worked for five commuter airlines.
Many of the descriptions of course come from the time spent there and in Taxco. And though I may have exaggerated some incidences, the cruise was real and a "pirate"did sit down beside me who looked very much like the pirate I described in the story.
I'll leave it to you to decide whether the male coworker and I got together after all...
