You Don’t Have to Plan Your Business (or Your Life)

You don't have to plan your business or your lifeSomething that has become more and more apparent over the years is how little influence my plans have on what actually happens.

I still have a direction for where I want my business to go, but I’m not rigid about it.

You could say that I have more of a general direction, or intention, rather than a detailed plan that outlines every step to my destination.

I also have the benefit of not needing to be rigid because I don’t need to aggressively grow my business.

Whenever I want to grow my busine...

When You Feel Confused About Life

Man with his head melting into tangled linesI often receive emails that go something like this:

“Henri, I’m confused about my direction in life. I don’t know where to start, or what my passion is.”

If there’s anything I’ve noticed in my life, it’s that confusion is a given.

Even though I’m doing what I love, I experience confusion. And sometimes I feel lost.

The good news is that the confusion is normal.

The bad news is that our mind’s want to get rid of the confusion, which only makes it worse.

There’s nothing you have to do about be...

Why You Feel Like You Aren’t Good Enough (And How to “Fix” It)

[image error]Do you ever feel like a fraud?

Or just plain not good enough to do what you love?

We all do.

But it affects different people in different ways.

It depends on how much power you give to the thought of “not good enough.”

Do you let the thought blackmail you, or do you let it float by?

Even famous speakers, authors and entrepreneurs don’t feel good enough all the time. They feel like frauds. They want to give up.

The mind will always be afraid, but that’s okay. It doesn’t have to stop you.

So w...

Why Doing Work You Love Takes Time

Doing Work You Love Takes TimeYou’re doing your best.

You’ve put in the work.

You’re trying to figure this following your passion stuff out.

But things aren’t going according to plan. You look at everyone else, and they seem to be farther along.

Then you start to doubt yourself …

What if you’re not cut out for this?

What if you can’t do what you love?

What if you have to settle for a mediocre life?

It may feel like you’re going insane. But you’re not. There’s nothing wrong with where you are. It just takes time to do wha...

A Better Way to Cope with Adversity

There's a Better Way to Cope with Adversity, Setbacks, and ChallengesEver feel like life is unfair?

Are there too many problems clawing for your attention?

You’re not the only one.

At times it feels like too much to bear.

But there’s a better way to deal with the difficulties of life.

The answer lies not in running away, but turning to face life fully.

Life isn’t supposed to be easy, not all the time.

The Truth About Adversity

The Critical Importance of Telling Your Story

Share Your Story Without AbandonmentAre you afraid of sharing your story?

Scared of what people will think of you?

That’s exactly the problem one of my students had.

In a previous life, she worked in a hospital, where she was told to keep her story and feelings to herself.

Why?

Because the patients had enough to deal with, or so she was told.

When she went through one of my courses, she discovered that sharing her story could do wonders for growing her audience and attracting the right kind of clients.

So why is it so important...

When You Feel Like a Fraud

Theater Mask - Feeling Like a Fraud? We’ve all been there.

You feel like you’re putting on a show.

You’re afraid that someone will see through your mask.

You’re scared of being humiliated.

The story goes on and on.

It’s excruciating.

I know, because I’ve been there. I’ve wanted to give up in frustration. I’ve battled my inner demons.

Luckily, there is a way out.

When You Feel Like a Fraud — The Video

We’re all human.

That means we experience the full rainbow of thoughts and emotions.

The answer has never been about eliminating ...

Action-Based Learning (or How to Succeed at Anything)

Action-Based Learning is Like PlayWhen you want to do something new, your first instinct may be to learn everything about it.

You want to make sure you know enough.

And when you know enough, you’re ready to start.

The problem is that you often don’t know when enough is enough.

You try to learn everything, because you want to avoid mistakes.

Then you wonder why you’re stuck.

The solution then is to learn just enough to get you going.

I call this action-based learning.

Action-Based Learning — The Video

So what am I talking abo...

When You Feel Like You Have Nothing Special to Offer the World

Nothing Special to Offer the WorldOne of my earliest obstacles was my belief that I didn’t have anything to offer the world.

I wanted to express myself.

To share my truth.

To follow my heart.

But I thought I wasn’t good enough, and that held me back for years.

I’ve also received emails from readers on how they feel like they have nothing to offer.

Perhaps you’ve felt that way, too?

You feel like you have something to share, but you stop yourself.

You wonder: Isn’t this obvious? Doesn’t everyone already know this? Why would s...

When You Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything

Achieve Highlighted in DictionaryEverywhere you look, you’re told to achieve.

And sure, you can get things done, but at what cost?

If you’re anything like me, you want to do work you love, but you also want to remain somewhat sane.

Life isn’t all about work. It’s not all about achieving. There are times when you feel like taking action.

And there are times when you don’t feel like doing anything.

When You Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything — The Video

Before you read the rest of the post, watch this short video where I share ho...
