There's a lot to love

When I started Catching Liam my kid sister had never heard of New Adult.  I gave her a quick rundown and then set her to the task of finding outdated phrases and colloquialisms.  She had just graduated from college, so I knew she was the perfect person for the job.

Now the nice thing about sisters is that they have to read your books when you ask them to.  (Ask Stephenie Meyer sometime).  Not only did she make sure I didn't sound like an idiot, she also made sure all her college friends started reading it, too. Tonight she messaged me "I'm really loving this new Adult category."

As some of you know I'm a traditionally published YA author as well (different name, same fantastic lipstick), and I'm so wildly excited to hear this.  It takes forever for books to trickle down to teens when you pub a YA.  First the reviewers read it, then librarians and teachers, then parents.  My best friend is a librarian and she informs me that it's no big deal for kids to be checking out "big" books (you know the ones we assume they've already read) five years after it was published.  Most of this has to do with the system, and I'm not saying it's a bad system.  I just think it's amazing that in such a short time NA is reaching its intended audience—and y'all, they are loving it!

Cover Reveal: Unafraid by Melody Grace

My girl Melody Grace has a new book coming out and today I'm helping to reveal the cover.  I won't keep you from all the smexiness, but suffice it to say, I'm psyched for this book!

The first time I saw her, I knew this girl was wilder than any stallion I’d ever trained. She was headstrong, wounded, passionate and free. And I had to have her…”
Brittany Ray doesn’t care about her bad reputation. Growing up in a sleepy beach town with a junkie mom and a runaway dad, Brit’s learned the hard way that the people you love will only let you down. It’s no use hoping for love or happiness. Some dreams aren’t meant for girls like her.
Hunter Covington is one of those dreams.
Gorgeous, charming Hunter is damn near perfect—and it’s killing him. Son of Charleston royalty, he’s been trapped in a gilded cage since the day he was born. Now he’s breaking free. He’s quit law school to restore his grandpa’s old horse ranch, trying to soothe the demons in his soul. But Beachwood Bay is full of old ghosts, like the mysterious girl who spent an unforgettable night with him—and then slipped away before dawn. Brit.
Everything about her screams danger, but Hunter doesn’t care: he’s never felt a connection so deep. And try as she may, Brit can’t resist the desire consuming her —or the safety she finds in Hunter’s arms.
A reckless passion. An undeniable bond. Scarred by their pasts, Brit and Hunter fight to heal old wounds. But will dark secrets tear apart their new beginning? And when love is the biggest risk of all, can they find the courage to face the future unafraid?
ABOUT MELODY GRACE:
Melody Grace is the USA Today bestselling author of UNBROKEN and UNTOUCHED. A small-town girl turned SoCal beach-lover, she spent years with her nose in a book before deciding it was time to write them for herself. She loves bad boys, good books, and pistachio-flavored ice-cream.

More Liam Pt. 2!

Make sure you start with Part One here!  And thank you! Liam is holding steady in the 200s.  I'm still hopeful we'll get an early Christmas present if Liam hits the Top 100!

Liam refused to release my hands.  Instead he pressed his ear against my chest and lingered there for a moment.   “What are you doing?” I murmured.  My breath was still ragged with anticipation. “Counting,” he whispered.  “I love you more with each beat.” A shiver traveled up my neck and I barely managed to push words past my lips.  “Bedroom now.” He didn’t need any other coaxing.  His hands dropped mine, freeing them to tangle into his hair and draw his mouth to mine, as he lifted me easily into his arms and carried me to the bedroom, narrowly missing the door jamb but slamming against the door itself. “Kissing you is dangerous,” I murmured, barely detaching my lips from his. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.”  With one swift kick, he pushed the door closed.  Dropping me on the bed, he loomed over me, his eyes blazing as he tugged his shirt off to reveal his abs.  I stretched and trailed a finger across them, my hand practically vibrating across his stomach.   “I don’t know why they call them washboard abs.  They only make me feel dirty,” I said, licking my tongue across my lips for emphasis. Liam rolled his eyes like he always did when I commented on his body.  The fact that he couldn’t see that he was a total sex god made him all that much hotter. He tugged at my pajama bottoms.  “Less clothes now.” I wasn’t about to resist, but before I could even strip to my panties, he was yanking them off me, his body bearing urgently down on mine.

Liam's #196! New Scene!

The other day I promised that if Liam got down to #400 on Amazon, I would start to release new scenes.  This weekend I took some time off with the family, so imagine my shock when I got home to the news that Liam was #337! And then it got better and better.  I told you if Liam got into the Top 100 on Amazon, I would share Liam and Jillian's Christmas, and we're so close!  For now here's a snippet of a new scene.  I'll be posting two more snippets from this scene tomorrow, so stay tuned.

“Tara.” It was explanation enough just to say her name. His blue eyes softened immediately, and he abandoned his book. “Do you want to talk about it?” he offered. “There’s really nothing to talk about. Tara is...whatever,” I said.  I hoped to sound dismissive. I even tossed my hair over my shoulder as if to channel the carefree attitude of a shampoo model.   He stretched out, accentuating the lean sinews of his body, and his hands closed over my wrists as he drew me closer. "You don't have to pretend with me."  "That's too bad. I had a fantasy involving you in a kilt." "Role play is a different story."  His mouth curved into a grin. “Tell me how I can make you feel better.”   “I don’t want to talk about her.  It won’t solve anything.” Hooking a leg over his lap, I straddled him as he kept my wrists pinned. There were ways Liam could boost my outlook on life. “Is there another way I can help?” I wiggled forward until I was pressed completely against him.  Our hips locked into place, separated by thin cotton and nothing more.  Liam drew my hands behind my back, his grip firm and tight as his lips dropped to my neck.   The time in the room slowed as his mouth wiped away all my anxiety.  There was only his tongue tracing the curve of my collarbone and the heat of his breath on my skin, longing ignited along the path his lips traveled, spreading like wildfire—uncontrollable and inextinguishable.
Check back tomorrow to read the rest!
