This is more Benedict than Sherlock

This wasn’t scripted, so I suppose it was more Benedict than Sherlock

This is when Mycroft says “I hope I won’t have to threaten you as well” and John says “Well, I think we’d both find that embarrassing”

What John said wasn’t in the script and Sherlock’s snort was his genuine reaction

Works perfectly

Ben and Martin work so well together.

Is it weird that I am really looking forward to the Ian Mckellen/Patrick Stewart old friends collaborating stage of their career? Because I think they’re going to have ups and downs but be friends forever and ever…

If Martin did ad lib that line, it was a killer addition. Just saying.

These two star-crossed idiots have not recovered from the Fall and the separation yet, at all. They haven’t been able to talk about the pain it caused them both because they just haven’t been ready yet. “I did this for you because I love you” and “I was broken by this because I love you” just can’t be said until they can say I love you (LOVE you, love you). This is why I am very sure the Fall will be revisited in some way once they’re being open with their feelings. It has to be. It’s just not resolved. This is part of why Series 3 frustrated people so much. It’s the middle of an arc, where not only a new (but related) conflict has arisen that needs to be dealt with, but the old one is still there too. Things need to be Said. (And I will let myself hope scars will be Seen)

so so SO agree. Everything won’t be 100% Solved and Simple when they are finally open with one another but it’s the only step they can take towards things being so. It’s why Sherlock had to go back to it in TAB and reassert that “there are always two of us”, even though John felt left behind and abandoned. Only when they’re open with one another will John be able to understand that Sherlock took the Fall to make sure there could be two of them again, rather than to cut him out (and how John cut Sherlock out on his return by getting married).

Agree, totally. s3 further complicates an already broken scenario, and it does it in a way that is, in my opinion, rather risky from a structural perspective. It gives us a narrative that is fractured and lacking, that diverts attention away from the primary conflict through the introduction of CAM (I mean, who really gives a shit about CAM?), and offers a limited perspective on events (Sherlock’s). The resolution–reconciling John and Sherlock in a real, satisfactory way–was only partially achieved by TAB. Sherlock’s ready. In his mind and heart (and groin, probably), he’s ready.

But what about John? Any forward movement is going to require a much greater focus on him, what he is / was thinking, and indeed, who he is as a person. This is why I’m SO looking forward to s4. I want to see that John Watson renaissance.

Totally agree about S3 and needing to see John’s POV. S3 left a lot of viewer dissatisfaction because of how one-sided and unresolved it was. And not unresolved as in TRF but in much deeper way.

Ah the casual media

This came across my Google search. It claims there will be an episode airing “at Christmas” and that it’s “probably the last” Sherlock season. However, it’s most likely just made-up media hype since they don’t give a source for either of those assumptions.

Goodbye, BBCThree

You told us once that you weren’t a hero. There were times we didn’t even think you were a network. But let us tell you this: you were the best network, the most Tumblr… Tumblr… that we’ve ever known, and no one will ever convince us that you told us a lie.

@bbcthree

Yes! You cannot be replace. :-(
