Incredible Colorized Historical Photographs

Some of these are heartbreaking…but sharp reminders of what our world has been through in not too distant times – when will humans learn to truly love each other as One? Thank you Alk3r…

Tolerance Is a Double-Edged Sword

“Tolerance is a double-edged sword. It can engage and embrace that which serves the advancement of spirit, or it can idle in neutral and accept that which harms all of Mother Earth….” read more of Tina Frisco’s thought-provoking post…in the end, its all about balance and using our inner wisdom to evolve into the finest beings we can be…

TINA FRISCO

Most dictionaries agree that tolerance is the ability or willingness to accept opinions, beliefs, behaviors, and ways of life different from our own, even if we disagree or disapprove of them.

On the surface, that seems an estimable quality, perhaps even exemplary. But tolerance is double-edged. It has a sharp edge and rough edge. Its sharp edge is broad-mindedness. Its rough edge is permissiveness.

What might we expect from the rough edge of tolerance – the indiscriminate acceptance of injustice; violence; abuse; suffering? The answer to this is evidenced somewhat in our global society today, a large element of which is immune to the subtle and progressive infusion of violence; a world hardened and unaffected by behaviors that harm and by the elements employed to inflict it. We’re being brainwashed by a handful of plutocrats who seek to gratify their unquenchable thirst for…

Smorgasbord Autumn Reading – Krishna’s Counsel by Mira Prabhu

Sally Cronin of Smorgasbord fame presents a beautifully designed interview of yours truly…what amazes me is that despite being in the throes of major personal projects, she still finds the time and energy to generously support other writers…please check out her wonderful website…she’s well worth following…thank you Sally!!!

Smorgasbord - Variety is the spice of life

Smorgasbord Autumn ReadingToday the featured book is book two of The Moksha Trilogy comprising books about the enlightenment of three Indian women. Two of these three novels (Whip of the Wild God and Copper Moon Over Pataliputra) are set in ancient India; the second in the series, Krishna’s Counsel, is a contemporary novel set both in India and Manhattan and could be classified as Spiritual Crime Fiction.

About Krishna’s Counsel.

KC-Front

Krishna’s Counsel sweeps you back to sleepy south India in the 1960s, right into the tumultuous life of Pia, a brilliant and defiant teenager whose world disintegrates under the brutal sword-thrust of an eerie death. It is the loving gift of a magnificent view of eastern philosophy – particularly a poignant scene in the Bhagavad Gita, when Lord Krishna advises the quailing warrior Prince Arjuna to pick up his great bow Gandiva and forever rout the corrupt foe, regardless…

The Negro Spiritual – A Historical Document – Guest Post…

Negro Spirituals as historical documents…and heartbreaking too, to consider man’s inhumanity to man….this Earth has seen simply too much suffering, all of it fueled by egoic greed. Made me think of Maya Angelou reciting a song sung by a slave girl as she was being auctioned off…heartrending….thank you for this poignant share, Yecheilyah Ysrayl, and to Chris Graham and Tina Frisco for leading me to it.

Blog Post 1

“The so-called “slave songs” of the United States are best understood when they are considered as expressions of individual Negroes which can be dated and assigned to a geographical locale. They are, in brief, historical documents”. – Miles Mark Fisher, Negro Slave Songs in the United States

“Go down Moses
Way down in Egypt’s land
Tell ole
Pharaoh
To let my people go!”

During slavery in the United States, there were systematic efforts to strip the identity of the captive. When the so-called African was taken from the West coast of Africa, it was not a simple transition of country, to ship, to land, but he had to undergo an entire initiation process before stepping foot on the plantations of America. His name, being the most important, was taken from him, followed by his way of life which was stripped from him, and his history book taken from…

War: What are we doing to our children?

“War is never a necessity. Bred of fear and propaganda, war is shoved down our throats as the only available alternative. And many of us accept this without question. We need to wake up and look at who is doing the force-feeding → the money mongers who grow fat and wealthy on our fear and ignorance; the greedy who keep us fighting each other in order to divert our attention away from their heinous intentions and deeds.” Read Tina Frisco’s powerful share here…

TINA FRISCO

War has no conscience. War has no identifiable face. War is a vast money machine conceived of a lust for power and control, birthing fear and fostering ignorance of its clandestine motives.

War garners lucrative profits for the world’s handful of multi-billionaires who sit behind their exotic-wooden desks in their predominant international banks. War wreaks death and devastation upon the other 7 billion+ of the world’s population.

War is never a necessity. Bred of fear and propaganda, war is shoved down our throats as the only available alternative. And many of us accept this without question. We need to wake up and look at who is doing the force-feeding  → the money mongers who grow fat and wealthy on our fear and ignorance; the greedy who keep us fighting each other in order to divert our attention away from their heinous intentions and deeds.

Out of fear, many of us…

The Potency Of Silence

Have you ever been in the presence of someone and instantly felt their radiance reaching out to envelope you? No words are spoken but a tremendous exchange of energy is going on nevertheless…and this is why the silence of a sage can be like thunder, or like the gold of a quietly flowing river in the dying rays of an evening sun, transforming us from the core. Besides, the sage has fused with the Absolute, and there is no way he or she can share that experience with us in mere words…thank you for a great post, Harsh Luthar!

Silence is most powerful - Eden

Bhagavan Ramana used to say that the highest spiritual teaching and transmission is only in silence.

True Silence comes when there is complete surrender to God without any reservation. Then there is no room for anxiety, worry, or any other mental noise.

In this sublime silence filled to the brim with peace and contentment, the fullness of awareness spontaneously reveals ItSelf as the Universal Intelligence. The Pure Infinite Being whose nature is Bliss.

Silence is the only language

Thank you, Sharon Osbourne, you really do rock!

Just last night my sister was telling me about a woman in an emotionally abusive relationship…a strong and independent woman in terms of career but who has put up with personal crap for way too long. Unfortunately she is now in her 70’s and so she does not want to leave her nest, however uncomfortable…she’s fighting back, however, but in ways I consider not too effective – striking back with words when he abuses her verbally in public etc – how does that help either of them, I wondered out loud? Then today I read this amazing post and thought again that the degree of abuse can be as extreme as this – and still women (or men) don’t walk – why? One of the biggest factors is shame. And in trad societies, it is complicated by a host of other factors – ostracism at the far end of the spectrum, because it is still almost always the fault of the woman when things go wrong. Tolle says that when we find ourselves in a bad relationship/situation, there are 3 options open to us: 1) transform the situation, 2) accept it or 3) walk. This is really how simple it is at core – to begin to love ourselves to the point that our freedom and dignity means more to us than anything “other” people can say or do to hurt us….bravo, Sharon Osbourne, for beginning your healing journey, and thank you, Jannie Styles, for sharing this….

(Trigger Warning)

Title: Thank you Sharon Osbourne, you really do rock!

People often question why some stay in relationships that are abusive. I don’t. I know the primary answer. It is not always money or children as some believe but more often, I believe, it is the shame. There is a high shame factor in surviving while in an abusive relationship or in learning something about your partner many years into the marriage that renders your marriage a façade and therefore you, in the eyes of onlookers, an idiot for staying. This is all so wrong and misguided, I hope my voice can correct some of that.

When I worked with victims of domestic violence I never saw myself as one of them. There were no bruises (usually) in my case. The bruises were all mental and emotional and never really had a chance to heal before the next onslaught…
