Pyramid of Capitalist System: 1911 union poster
A 1911 Industrial Worker (IWW newspaper) publication advocating
industrial unionism that shows the critique of capitalism. It is based
on a flyer of the "Union of Russian Socialists" spread in 1900 and 1901. (see notes below):

Interesting that the death of Steve Jobs has provided so much food for
thought at precisely the moment the Left felt poised on the brink of the
Marxist revolution (though they no longer teach the students who show
up for the Days of Rage the name of that which they are advocating).
Also interesting the our own Glorious Leader at his press conference
today sided with the Wall street protestors, that Brian Williams and his
peers have gone out of their way to romanticize the protesters after
years of mocking the Tea Party. Sometimes it just feels like we're not
in Kansas anymore.
But I feel a ray of hope as Steve Jobs' untimely death has brought a
message of hope and dignity to our country's unique ability to nurture
entrepreneurs, who after all create not only jobs but the products that
keep pushing the envelope.
I suggest all the Wall Street protestors put their money where their
mouths are concerning ant-capitalism and throw their technotoys away.
Komachi knives - kitchen razzle dazzle
Are these amazing or what? I had no idea they made knives like this until I saw them in Costco. I was still using knives I got when Tripp and I got married many moons ago. They are extremely dull and guests at my house complain quite loudly when they are helping me in the kitchen. My thing is that knives scare me - just a little - so I prefer them dull.
Or so I thought. I could not resist these colors - which are coded for the type of food you use each knife on - red for tomato, green for avocado, etc - and brought home a set to replace my crazy useless collection. They are quite sharp, but not scary at all. Perhaps I'm fooled by the brilliant colors into thinking I'm having fun :)
Anyway, I thought I'd look them up on Amazon in case any of my readers were ready for a new knife set. Remember, when you use my link to get to Amazon, any purchases you make will result in a small percentage coming back to MommyLife. Many of my readers have developed the habit of making all their purchases of books, homeschool supplies, movies, groceries, shoes, clothing, furniture, hardware, tools - I do believe there's nothing Amazon doesn't have - through my link (either the one underneath the main entry, the one under my picture in the right sidebar, or any links like those at the end of this post.
This helps me pay my blogging bills each month - so thank you!
Anyway, here are the Komachi knives:

Steve Jobs' life refutes Obama's worldview
Jobs lived a spartan lifestyle and failed many times. Yet he always bounced back with creativity and zeal. Watch his 2006 Stanford commencement address to see what I mean.
What if Steve Jobs had been aborted?
Did you know that Steve Jobs was adopted? To think how different the world would be today without his innovation and drive!
Steve Jobs Was an Arab American

Abdul Fattah Jandali, a young Syrian Muslim immigrant in Wisconsin, never met his son Steve Jobs. When a baby was born to the 23-year-old Jandali -- now known as John -- and his 23-year-old German-American girlfriend, Joanne Schieble, in 1955, there was no chance he'd be able to grow up with his biological parents.Joanne, who belonged to a white, conservative Christian family could not convince her parents to marry an Arab, a Muslim, according to Jandali, who called her father "a tyrant" in a New York Post interview in August 2011. In fact, according to Jandali, she secreted off from Wisconsin to liberal San Francisco to sort out the birth and adoption without letting either him or her parents know.
And so it was that a nameless Arab-American baby was adopted by an Armenian-American family. Clara Hagopian and her husband Paul Jobs had been married around seven years and had not been able to conceive. The little bundle that would be Steve was very much wanted in the Jobs household.

There've been 52 million abortions since Roe v. Wade. How many Steve Jobs have we lost?
His story is simply amazing. Here, he sums it up in less than 15 minutes - and note, though he reads a prepared text, you will find yourself hanging on every word:

Mike Pearl - another death by his teaching
Controversial book part of adopted girl's murder investigation

SEDRO WOOLLEY, Wash. -- Behind a locked gate and
down a long, winding driveway, far from the eyes of the outside world,
prosecutors say a girl who came to Sedro-Woolley from Ethiopia to find
loving parents was met with horrible abuse.Hana Williams, 13, never adapted to life with her strict, adoptive parents.
Court documents say she was considered "rebellious" and was forced to
sleep in a dark locked closet, eat table scraps, bathe outside with a
hose and was routinely beaten with a plastic rod. Her parents, Larry and
Carri Williams, allegedly witheld food for days at a time. At the time
of her death last May, the teen weighed just 78 pounds."It's the worst case I've ever investigated," said Dr. Francis Chalmers, a pediatrician who examined the case for prosecutors.
The night she died, Hana was found by her siblings naked, outside, face down in a mud puddle. It was 42 degrees.
"I think she was severely abused and ultimately tortured," said Dr. Chalmers.
Many in the small Skagit County city are wondering how anyone could be so cruel to a child.
Little is known about the Williams family, except that they were
strict homeschooling Christians who rarely left their five-acre
property. But they got at least part of their parenting advice from a
controversial book entitled "To Train Up A Child." It was written by a
Tennessee preacher who advocates the infliction of pain and witholding
of food as forms of punishment. An adopted California girl was beaten to
death by her parents who read the same book. DSHS officials said they
plan to take a closer look at it."From what I am aware of, I would describe it as encouraging abuse," said DSHS Area Administrator Patty Turner.

If you know anyone who follows this rigid, merciless teaching, please implore them to seek counsel.
All the children who have died at the hands of Pearl devotees were adopted into families considered model in their communities.
While some parents claim the Pearl techniques work well for them, what obviously is a problem is adopting someone into the family who poses greater challenges, for which the parents' only resources are beatings and abuse.
The MSM are all too happy to take the truth of this story and run with it, painting all evangelicals as child abusers. This is not the case, and all the more reason why we must stop tolerating the spread of the Pearls' teaching.
"Darn tootin'!" Obama brags of backstabbing Catholics
But the hilarity and braggadacio is something else. Also, I'm just gonna assume he said "Darn tootin'!" since Obama never met a g he didn't want to drop. And to think they attacked Palin like rabid dogs for speaking in the colloquial.
Even if you are pro-abortion, you must admit this is in the poorest taste:
Darn Tooting!' Obama Brags About HHS Reg Catholic Bishops Call Attack on Liberty
By Terence P. JeffreyOctober 5, 2011
President Barack Obama (AP Photo/Paul Sancya)
(CNSNews.com) - Bantering with the audience at a fundraiser in St.
Louis yesterday, President Barack Obama bragged about a new regulation,
proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services, that the U.S.
Conference of Catholic Bishops has denounced as an "unprecedented attack
on religious liberty.""Darn right!" an audience member at the fundraiser shouted as Obama described the regulation.
"Darn tooting!" Obama said back.
The proposed regulation, designed to implement part of Obamacare,
will require all private health plans in the United States to cover
sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives--including those that
cause abortions--without charging any fees or co-pay. These regulations
were drawn to implement a provision in Obama's health-care law that
calls for all health-care plans to cover "preventive services."Combined with Obamacare's mandate that all individuals must buy
health insurance, the "preventive services" regulation would require all
American Catholics to buy health care plans that pay for
sterilizations, contraceptives and abortions--all of which violate
Catholic moral teaching.

The donkey in the well
![]()
One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours
as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally, he decided the
animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just
wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his
neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began
to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was
happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted
down.A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down
the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt
that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would
shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors
continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and
take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped
up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to
getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of
our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells
just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less from people but more from God.
