I'm always curious how people rate books on GoodReads and elsewhere. I know there is the basic protocol GoodReads provides:
1 - I did not like it
2 - It was ok
3 - I liked it
4 - I really liked it
5 - It was amazing
That's pretty basic, and allows a lot of room for interpretation.
Personally, I have very little patience for a book I'm not getting into. If I am not getting into a book by the first 50 pages, I generally will not continue. Even more, I'm pretty careful before even starting a book (doing the "look inside", reading like-minded reviews, etc). So if I finish a book, it is likely to get at least a 3 or 4 from me.
I guess it is for these reasons my "average rating" here is in the fours. But I notice a lot of people have averages in the mid-threes. I guess I'm just curious how you rate books. If you have any feedback, I'd love to read it.
