Eversea~ Digital Book Award Winner for Adult Fiction eBook Flowable
What an amazing experience to be in New York City at the Digital Book World Conference + Expo. I met some incredible people and heard some amazing people speak about the publishing industry and the challenges and opportunities of the next year.
It was an incredible few days with over 1500 people from the publishing industry all over the world. From CEO's to techies, from entrepreneurs to authors.
I learned paper books are probably NOT going away. I learned there is some amazing technology out there that may finally help the most visual books become even more interactive, beautiful and useful (text yourself the ingredients from a recipe with one swipe (Modern Cuisine at Home), listen to the beautiful music the child is hearing in the book (The Man with the Violin). I learned that there is a LOT more respect for self-published authors than ever. Especially when I got up to receive the award for Adult Fiction eBook Flowable for EVERSEA !
I got to meet the AMAZING ROCKSTAR WHO HANDLES OUR AUTHOR PLATFORM HERE ON GOODREADS (Patrick) and thank him personally for my experience in launching my writing career. I met the awesome Jane Litte from Dear Author and Sarah Wendell from Smart Bitches Trashy Books (and I'm still too nervous to ask her to review my book). I met the founder of Jellybooks, the acquiring editor for Swoon Reads, and for Little Brown YA (Say whaaat?!), the fabulous Sam Missingham who runs game of Thrones events for HarperCollins UK. And frankly, I was mostly in awe and a bit tongue-tied. And the list goes on.
I met and made some fabulous new friends and contacts. And brought home a trophy. Score :)
