Turn up the heat–Rhonda Lee Carver

Happy 1st!
As the evenings grow cooler, how do you get warm?
I hope you’ll pick up my newest cowboy releasing 9/05/17! Many times I’ve been asked what sparked the idea for a story. For Weston’s Trouble, the storyline is based on a conversation, some might call argument, my husband and I had over phone usage. We were at dinner and he was taking care of business on his phone, which I thought was very rude. Although I didn’t leave him sitting at the table or kick him out of my car, I did explain that using the phone at the table, while on a date, doesn’t create a romantic setting. I can say, it hasn’t happened since. What do you think? Using the phone during a date is rude…or just fine?
To find out the turn of events in Weston’s Trouble, you’ll have to grab it and read!
WT_Final
In the mean time, here’s a sneak peek…
Once upon a time, Weston Jericho could have any woman he wanted, but these days he’s known as “daddy” and less “bachelor of the year”. His daughter and his ranch are his priority until country-girl-turned-city waltzes back into his average life. She’ll have him juggling daddy duties with the need to be near the one woman who stole his heart years ago.

Her father’s declining health leaves Sammie Tanner with no other choice but to come home to Colton, Texas and get things back in order on the ranch, and face those she left behind. From the second her boots cross the county line she finds nothing but trouble, especially with Weston who has her cursing like the backwoods country girl he remembers, and still desires.

Her heart wants the cowboy, but how does she reveal the true reason why she left him…left home? Will he look at her the same? Can she take the risk?

EXCERPT:

“Oops. Sorry.” Her cheeks flushed bright red. Their gazes met. The air grew hotter and he wasn’t sure if she was the one who stepped forward or he had, or some unforeseen force brought them together, but within a breath, their bodies came together and his fingers pushed into her hair, tugging the silken mass from the hairband. The soft tendrils spilled down around her shoulders and brushed his forearms, conjuring images of her naked, straddling him, his fists in her hair. A layer of condensation on his old truck windows as country music played from the speakers. Those were the days.

Her chin lifted and her tongue came out to sweep across the thick, pink curve of her bottom lip. He was more than ready to dive in, sample her like a dessert, but she blinked and something took shape in the depths of her blue gaze.

“What?”

“I-I…can’t do this…”

“You can’t?” His lungs ached.

She gasped. “I’m guessing that’s not you caressing my ankle.”

Get your Cowboy Six Pack Free or $0.99 by Paty Jager

I’m excited the Cowboy Six Pack box set has been doing well. It’s received over 50 reviews with most of them being 5s. I’ve been in several box sets and anthologies where not all the stories were the same caliber of writing. This box set has been surprising readers with the rounded stories and authors.

My story Catch the Rain came to me to me while I was driving the hay swather. I was listening to music and Rascal Flatts song Trying to Catch the Rain came on. As I listened I understood the plight of the person trying to make someone love them. I started with that premise, then thought, but what if the person hoping to be loved also had what they thought of as a major flaw and that was how I made the heroine in Catch the Rain dyslexic.

My daughter being a veterinary tech  helped me with the veterinary aspects of the story.

Here is the blurb: Catch the Rain

Running from her past, Kitty Baxter catches a glimpse of her future—if she’s brave enough to believe in herself and the kind-hearted stranger who claims she deserves love.

Focused on setting up his new veterinarian practice, Zach MacDonald becomes sidetracked by a karaoke singing beauty with a secret. He sees what others don’t, and becomes determined to make Kitty see that anyone can learn to catch the rain.

Every woman loves a six-pack! Six sexy cowboy stories sure to make you swoon as they ride, rope and tw o-step into your heart.

FREE in KU or just $0.99

To Steal a Cowboy’s Heart by Kari Lynn Dell: Rule #1: when undercover, never get personal. He’s the exception she can’t afford…or resist. If lying is your job, is true love possible?

Cowboy Courtship by Allison Merritt: Despite work-place trauma and domestic drama, Dean and London might be able to overcome any relationship trouble with a little patience and a sweet cowboy courtship.

Changing a Cowboy’s Tune by Stephanie Berget: After years apart, can the barrel racer and her cowboy see past their own dreams and cultivate a life they both love?

Catch the Rain by Paty Jager: Zach MacDonald, the new veterinarian in town, sees in stable hand, Kitty Baxter, more than she sees in herself.

Broken Vows by Melissa Keir: Distance causes problems for Rick and Julie. It turns their world upside down. When Julie puts her foot down, will Rick make the right choice or will their vows break?

Cowboy Wrecked by D’Ann Lindun: Can a schoolteacher who wants nothing more than a family of her own and a bull rider unable to father children find a way to build a life together.

OLD DOG, NEW TRIXIE releasing 8/23!

By Sidda Lee Rain ❤

Hope everyones SUMMER is going great! Because, soon enough it will be fall…then, winter before you know it. Holy smokes where did this year go?

I’m very proud to be part of the next Sable Hunter’s HELL YEAH Kindle World release happening August 23rd!

I’ve had some AMAZING response to my first release in the series *Don’t Mess With the Bull* A crossover novella from my IGNITION INFANTRY MC Heir Saga (a taboo breeding series). Blending my bikers with Sable’s characters has been a fun adventure. Of course, I was drawn to Isaac the BADASS (title of his book in the HELL YEAH series). He’s a biker himself, owns a kick@ss bar, and has quite the kinky side to him. Oh, so does his beautiful wife Avery as well. What other characters would mesh so well with my biker boys?

page-0-287

Blurb for DON’T MESS WITH THE BULL

Sasha, once known as Sissy in her former life at The Shady Lady brothel. She wasn’t only looking for a new name, but a new life.

Friends Isaac and Avery McCoy not only helped her get an apartment but also a job—one she needed desperately to take care of herself…and her child.

Bull locked eyes on her the moment he walked into Hardbodies. Wanting her instantly. The curvy little blonde not only had a body that had him craving sin, but her spitfire attitude ‘bout did him in.

There’s something about Sasha besides his body’s reaction to her. A bit of mystery, a story there, a secret…and he intends to know everything there is to know about the sassy pale skinned beauty.

If only Bull can convince her to let him in…besides her bed.

He’s former military, a patch holder in a motorcycle club for chrissake, certainly he can handle a little thing like her. Right?

‘Don’t Mess With the Bull’ is a crossover story from

~~~COMING AUGUST 23rd *OLD DOG, NEW TRIXIE*~~~
page-0-335
Blurb for OLD DOG, NEW TRIXIE
Dog has no family left…except for the IGNITION INFANTRY. He has no designs on trying to change that either.
Who would have thought that a trip to the local baby supply store would possibly change that?
Trixie hadn’t had a picturesque childhood. Left by her mother at the Shady Lady Brothel to be raised by the ladies of the night was quite an interesting way to grow-up. But, they’d done right by her. Hell, they’d done so well that not only had she finished high school early but she’d walked across that college auditorium stage with a degree in her hand by the time she was twenty-three.
Now, here she was stocking shelves of diapers and breast pumps when he walked in and flipped her entire world upside down.
Dog took a helluva lot more than the few baby gifts he’d purchased for the Isaac and Avery McCoy’s baby that day.
Could he really fall for a woman who owns a million pastel teddybears and seems to be obsessed with The Golden Girls?
And, could Trixie convince Dog that age is nothing but a number, and that everyone needs a little Sofia, Dorothy, Blanche and Rose in their life?
In the Ignition Infantry…
Love comes FAST!
Love comes HARD!
Love comes KINKY!
And, so do these bikers.
Claiming His Pregnant Bride by Sarah M. Anderson + giveaway!
Hi everyone! I don’t want to alarm anyone but IT IS ALREADY AUGUST.
On the bright side, school starts here in a week and a half and BOY am I looking forward to it! We’ve got one more little side trip up to Chicago planned, where I’ll be giving a talk at the Chicago-North RWA Chapter meeting on Revision, but after that? It’s time to buckle down and Get Stuff Done!
UPDATE: I can’t believe I forgot the winner from last week! It’s Denise R. S.! YAH DENISE!!!
I have a new book out! Little Secrets: Claiming His Pregnant Bride is on shelves now!
Blurb: Seth FINALHas this runaway bride found the man of her dreams?
Restless—that’s businessman and biker Seth Bolton. But when he rescues runaway bride Kate Burroughs, he wants more than he should with the lush mom-to-be. He’s never been one to settle down, and he already has plans to leave. The best he can offer Kate is a no-strings fling…
And in spite of her better judgment, Kate says yes to Seth. She needs what he can give her, for however long it lasts. But soon they’ll both have choices to make. She left the wrong man at the altar… Will Seth turn out to be the right one?
I have two things to say about this book:
This is Seth Bolton’s book. Seth was a snot-nosed teenager of single-mom Jenny in Bringing Home the Bachelor. He was only about 14 in that story and I’d always planned on checking back in with him. Well, here we are! He’s now a co-owner in the Bolton family business, Crazy Horse Choppers, but he struggles with the feeling that he has to prove he belongs in the family business, since he was adopted into the family. In reality, only about five years has passed since Seth was fourteen, but in the story, about eleven years have passed, so whew! Not quite jail bait, you know?
Okay…last but not least…
I have a release tomorrow.
Smooth as Hell
Jayde Wells, owner of Flips by Chics, knows her way around a power tool, but when it comes to love, not so much. On the tail of another bad decision, she’s more than happy to take some time at Cross House, the beach house she inherited from her best friend. Pounding nails since pigtails, she loves turning pit holes into gems, so renovating the house takes her to a place of comfort, but one weekend at Bodie Island will hand her more than a project to flip.
Dr. Merf Cross can’t believe his brother is gone, and why would he leave the Cross House to Jayde and Merf together? A bear and lion would get along better. Sure, they’d shared one night together years ago, but since, she treats him like a raw pimple on her behind. He’ll amuse her by helping with renovations, but he’s never seen anything sexier than a hammer-wielding, slick-skinned beauty who can handle herself around a tool. Temperatures aren’t the only thing rising on the island.
Will these two find the Cross House, and a second chance at love, a flip or a flop?
Say hello to the Compass Boys – Mari Carr
On August 29, Jayne Rylon and I are launching the Compass Boys. This series has been the MOST requested of my career. Unfortunately, life kept getting in the way. Well…not anymore! Heaven on Earth releases in August and the second, Into the Fire, will hit bookshelves in November.
So come back to Compton Pass and meet…THE BOYS!
A brand new, never before released standalone story in the Compass saga from New York Times bestselling authors Jayne Rylon and Mari Carr.
Austin Compton has struggled to live up to the Compass legacy his entire life, afraid of disappointing his overachieving family. After dropping out of college, he convinced his parents to buy a big rig and let him contribute to the Compass Ranch in his own way.
On the open road he discovers a happy medium between the freedom he craves and the obligation that comes along with the Compton name. When he picks up some unexpected cargo in the form of a gorgeous if battered stowaway, he’s in trouble. The same reckless urges that convinced him to abandon his education are telling him to keep Hayden close and safe, maybe even teach her how to love again after the disastrous relationship she’s fleeing.
When troubled times fall on Compass Ranch, Hayden will do anything to repay the kindness Austin and his family showed her. It’s time to support Austin like he’s done for her, if her past doesn’t catch up with her at exactly the wrong moment.
Where has July Gone?
I blinked and the month of July was gone. I have been busy writing, and attending a conference.
This month I have good and bad news – good news is a new release in August – bad news my cowboy book was rejected by the new publisher. It happens, and I’m okay with it. I have ideas for more that will be sent in to the new publisher in the next couple of months.
In the mean time I’m working my fingers off trying to get more books out there for everyone to read.
I have a new release on 8/18 – its the first in a 2 book series: Doms of the Silver Screen: Michael
Blurb:
Rising Hollywood star Michael Levin is up for a career-launching role, and his potential co-star seems to think she’ll be next in his bed. He has no reason to stray. He has a sexy leading lady at home, Kelsey Pierce, who knows how to give him what he needs–her submission. But when the paparazzi insinuates the chemistry between Michael and his co-star is more than playing a role, Kelsey fears he’ll walk out on her like her past actor boyfriends. Can Michael convince Kelsey he’s the perfect leading man–and Dom–before it’s too late?
And here’s the cover:
It’s on pre-order right now.
Shiny New Contemporary Series by Paty Jager
New projects in writing always make me giddy. I love it when an idea, setting, or premise comes together to form what I can see as several books in a series.
That’s what happened with the latest contemporary western romance novella I’m writing for a box set.  The idea of a female bull rider has been in my files for a while. when I came up with the scene to open the book, it made sense she’d been hurt, and who should the ER nurse be, but her cousin’s best friend and the one boy her 13 year old heart had fallen for.
Much has happened between Jared’s senior year of high school and his finding Lacey Wallis the battered bull rider on his ER gurney.
They are both from ranching families. While Jared got away from the ranch, Lacey’s family, all but her cousin, abandoned theirs. Lacey’s cousin resurrected the family ranch into a Dude/Resort Ranch and that is how I decided the Tumbling W Ranch should be the name of the series. All the stories will be about the people or relatives who come to, or are a part of, the ranch. This will give me a long list of possible stories to set at the ranch and the surrounding Montana landscape.
Here is an unedited glimpse into Lacey and Jared’s story: Eight Seconds to Love
Blurb
Jared McIntyre can’t believe his eyes. The bull rider brought into his ER is none other than his best friend’s tomboy cousin, Lacey Wallis. The girl he couldn’t get out of his head the last fifteen years. During his tour in Iraq he lost another thrill-seeking woman, and he isn’t about to let this one destroy her life.
Lacey Wallis is injured during the bull ride that moves her up in the rankings to go to the National Finals Rodeo.  Her dream. But the guy she had a crush on when she was thirteen is back in her life, and trying his darnedest to make her give up on the bulls and get her adrenaline rush from him.
Excerpt
She stared at him. “You care whether or not I get a chance to ride in the finals?”
“I don’t like you riding bulls, but I don’t like to see dreams crushed.” He put a hand on her shoulder. “Everyone needs a dream or goal. It’s what gets them out of bed every day.”
“What is your dream?” She stepped closer, nearly touching their bodies.
His body sprang to life at her nearness. He cupped the back of her head with his hand and brought her lips an inch from his. “To forget the past and take charge of the future.”
Her wide eyes stared into his. “How about take charge of the present?” The breath from her words whispered across his lips moments before she closed the inch between them.
She’d made her move, now it was time for him to make his. Jared opened his mouth and she followed. His tongue sought her moist heat and sweetness. He could tell by her clumsy attempts to mate her tongue to his, she had less experience. The knowledge only made him want to show her more.
The hand not cupping her head, slipped under her open shirt and cupped her breast. She moaned and pressed closer. He squeezed her breast and slid his leg between hers, lifting her slightly. Her body wiggled, and he felt her desire dampening his thigh.
A horse snorted and stamped a hoof.
He broke free of the kiss and lowered his leg. This wasn’t the place to bring her to an orgasm.
Lacey’s hand fisted in his shirt. She peered up at him. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No.” He nodded toward the barn and the buildings beyond. “I’m not a fool. Someone could come along…” He ran a hand through his hair. “I don’t want anyone to get the wrong impression about you or me.”
“What does that mean?” She released his shirt and took a step back.
“I won’t take advantage of you when you’re vulnerable.”  The sparks in her eyes revealed he’d said the wrong thing. But he needed to keep her away. While he cared for her and God knew his body reacted to her without provocation, he didn’t want her in his life. She was too much like Anita. He couldn’t lose another woman he loved.
“I’m not vulnerable. I might have a bum arm, but I am sure as hell not vulnerable. I knew what I was doing when I pressed my lips to yours.” She spun away from him and marched into the barn.
The door slammed shut.
“No, you aren’t vulnerable.  I am.”
Eight Seconds to Love will release September 15th in a box set and is the first novella in the Tumbling W Ranch Series. If you want to know when this is released sign up for my newsletter or follow me on Facebook.
Nashville and Xmas in July by Donna Michaels
Hi everyone,
How’s your July going? It’s been a special month for me and my family. My husband no longer heads to the armory to work. Yep, this month, he officially started his terminal leave from the military. He’s been in the Army National Guard, both part time and full time, for over 35 years.
Here’s the cake I had a good friend of mine make to celebrate Michael’s retirement.
Since my husband was home, I took full advantage and had him help me out at the Weekend With An Author Conference in Nashville. Two weeks ago, we drove down, and boy, let me tell you, it was nice not to rush through airports with heavy suitcases. Having the car, (and driver
How to speak Texan
I haven’t written about this in a while, and even though I no longer live in Texas, my heart is still there and I want to visit as much as I can. So I have to keep up my Texas-speak. Here is today’s crash course.
You might be a Texan if:
You have ever had this conversation:Texas flag
You wanna coke?
Yeah.
2. You don’t want a Texan to say
You don’t know whether to scratch your watch or wind your butt
3.  You DO want a Texan to say you’re tough as an old boot.cowboy
4. When you hear a tornado siren you go outside and look for a funnel cloud.
5. You don’t want a Texan to say you’d gripe if you was going to be hung with a brand new rope.
6. You do want a Texan to say you’re sweet as sorghum…or…you clean uo good. (This last usually before a date.
7. You aren’t surprised to find movie rentals, ammunition, chewing tobacco and bait in the same store.
8. You don’t want a Texan to say you’re dumb as a box of hammers (or rocks).
9. You do want a Texan to say you know your manners like your momma taught you.
And here is one thing to always remember:
Don’t squat with your spurs on!
Next lesson coming next month, along with more Texas lore. In the meantime, get your Texas fix with one of my latest releases, Where Danger Hides. This is Book #! of Corporate Heat, about a mega conglomerate located…where else?…Texas, a mega state.
