“I Know Lucy” by Melissa Pearl
Check out this beautiful cover for Melissa Pearl’s latest novel, “I Know Lucy,” which releases on April 20, 2014.
Genre: YA Romantic Suspense
Lucy Tate is on the run. After witnessing the brutal murder of her parents, she’s spent five years in hiding — taking on different personas and faking her way through life. The authorities can’t be trusted, so she remains in the shadows, always one beat ahead of the man who is forever hunting her. That is, until she meets Zach Schultz, a senior at Monte Vista High and the one guy she can’t bear to leave. Suddenly her natural instincts to lie, steal, and run are overshadowed by something else…the desire to stay. It’s her one shot at a normal life.
Curious by nature, Zach is immediately drawn to the new girl at school. How can a person look both confident and vulnerable all in the same moment? Determined to learn more about her, he tries to get close, but is thrown into a world of lies and confusion. The only thing that becomes apparent is that discovering the truth may get him killed.

And because it’s so hard to wait, here’s a teaser…
ZACH…
“This is different, you guys.” I shook my head. “I mean yes, she is gorgeous. And yes, I’m attracted to her, but it’s not just her looks. There’s something about her. She’s intriguing. It’s like she’s not all she appears to be or something.”
“You can tell that after two minutes of interacting with her? Give me a break.” Elliot balled up his napkin and threw it on the table.
“I know I don’t know her at all yet, but I can tell there’s something more there.” I rubbed my bottom lip.
“She looks normal to me.” AJ shrugged.
“I think she’s pretty. She looks sweet, but…” Liesl turned to spy her quickly. “AJ’s right. She looks like any other transfer student. What makes her so different?”
“It’s something about her eyes. There’s a story in them. I can’t even explain why I think that. I just feel like she’s got a lot of layers and I want to peel back every single one of them.”
“I bet you do.” Elliot raised his eyebrows.
“Not like that.” I threw him a droll look. “I just want to solve the mystery that is Danielle Harrison.”
“Dude, there is no mystery.” Elliot slapped his hand lightly on the table.
“Yes there is. I can feel it.”
“Careful, Zachy, your Nancy Drew is showing.” Jaeda’s green eyes were large and round as she gave me a playful look.
“I don’t care.” I shrugged, confident in the truth that I really didn’t. “That girl over there has secrets and I’m gonna figure out what they are.”

“Ethel and the Merman” Cover Reveal
My Surprise Passion Series encompasses a series of erotica novelettes that are created to be fun, light reads for women who have an adventurous side and a sense of humor.
Proudly, I’m revealing the cover for the newest in the series, “Ethel and the Merman.”
Ethel has made it her personal mission to avoid men. Twelve years ago, she fell for an actor whose charm and good looks won her over. That momentary lapse in judgement resulted in her getting pregnant.
Although she wouldn’t trade life with her son, Jonah, for anything, Ethel is constantly reminded that his father is less than responsible. Having nobody to lean on has made her leery of ever getting involved with another man. That is, until she meets Atlas, a Merman who is more man than any she has ever known.

Therese St. Croix
Adrienne’s oldest sister. Therese is a mysterious figure whose motivations are not fully known. She’s the only person in four hundred years who figured out how to escape the family curse, even if that meant sentencing her own soul to purgatory, where she bides her time and builds up her knowledge of magic in order to escape. Determined to come back to life at any cost, Therese has made a deal with the dark spirits that live in the land of the undead, one that will not only bring her back to life, but will drag everyone around her into the path of evil. Only her sister Adrienne and the mysterious Red Man can stop her – but they must act before it’s too late, and Therese does what no other has and succeeds in breaking down the barrier between living and dead. Rene DuBois
Twenty two year old street smart, tough gang member who helps his brother run the Loa Ogoun street gang. Known as the guardian of the innocent, he’s the go-to person to help police rescue tourists and others in trouble in the seedy parts of the city where lawlessness (and black magic) reigns. He’s more than the bad boy he looks like – he’s also able to see the spirits of lost souls that wander the streets of New Orleans. Accustomed to violence but with a soft spot for protecting women, Rene is bothered by only one thing: that he has to cover up the murders of innocent women – innocent victims of the serial killer prowling the city’s back alleys – which means their spirits wander the streets, lost, and their families know no peace. He’s charged with protecting the unsuspecting Adrienne from an evil no one can name – but which everyone in the voodoo community knows is coming.
Jacques “Jax” DuBois
Rene’s older brother and leader of the Loa Ogoun voodoo gang that runs the streets of New Orleans. Violent, intelligent and talented in the magic arts, he regularly resorts to black magic to keep the streets safe and the darker elements of the voodoo community in check. For five years, he’s mourned the loss of the woman he loved. To honor her and the god of death, Jax has worn a skeleton mask since he lost Therese St. Croix to the St. Croix family curse. He is known as the scariest person on the streets of New Orleans for a reason, and yet he’s also entrusted by police and community members to keep the peace that protects the tourism trade, the city’s greatest source of income. What no one else knows: alone, in his apartment, he’s performing a different kind of black magic, a blood rite meant to return to life the woman he mourns. If he succeeds, the black magic that will not only claim his spirit, but will condemn everyone around him as well. Photo © frenzelll – Fotolia.com
Jayden Toussaint-Washington
Seventeen year old, All-American athlete born into privilege. On the eve of his senior year, Jayden learns the horrible secret behind the source of his family’s incredible wealth. The dark secret is accompanied by the St. Croix curse, a piece of his family’s history that the practical teen dismisses as ridiculous. He doesn’t believe in magic or voodoo– until he accidentally discovers his ability to cross between the land of the living and the land of the dead. Initially drawn to Adrienne by her beauty, Jayden soon finds their fates are intertwined by the same curse that befell their families four hundred years before. He must overcome his misgivings about magic, if he is to help them both survive.
The Red Man
After incurring the wrath of the deities in the voodoo pantheon for his misuse of magic, The Red Man is sentenced to a four hundred year penance. He becomes the embodiment of the curse hanging over Adrienne and Jayden’s families and must carry out his sentence in full by claiming ninety nine firstborns from each of the St. Croix and Toussaint families. He’s been killing for hundreds of years and only needs one more life to fulfill his penance – that of Therese St. Croix. But when he came for her five years ago, she used black magic to escape him and disappeared, leaving him with a difficult choice: claim Adrienne’s life in place of her sister’s to end his sentence? Or continue chasing Therese to prevent a greater evil – her return from the dead – and maybe redeem what he can of his damned spirit? Photo © Chris Smyth – Fotolia.com

The Surprise Passion Series
I’ve debuted a humorous erotica series called The Surprise Passion Series, which will show how passionate moments can arise in the most surprising of circumstances and with creatures or beings one may never have expected.
Starting with “Ready for the Yeti,” the books are available on all popular book sites and are priced at just .99. Today, the follow up, “Going Steady with the Yeti,” debuted.
These books are written with the same Mia Fox light sense or humor, but by Lola Bond, a pen name I’ve created for my naughtier writing. Although categorized as erotica, they are written with a light-hearted tone and designed for women who have a sense of humor and are wanting an escape.
I hope you enjoy this new series.

Sunday Morning Banana Pancakes
What’s better than a good book, hot coffee and banana pancakes on a Sunday morning? Here’s an amazing recipe…
Ingredients
3/4 cup all purpose flour
2 T. sugar
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 banana (small, over-ripe, peeled, the browner, the better)
1 1/8 cups low-fat milk
2 large eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3 T. unsalted butter (melted)
Combine dry ingredients in a bowl — flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mush (the technical term) the banana and add the eggs and beat together. Add the milk, extract and melted butter to the banana mixture. Then, fold in the dry ingredients.
Spoon into hot oil, flip and top with sliced bananas and maple syrup. Yum!

Bri’s parents pressure her to be the best at everything instead of just being the best that she can be. Bri struggles to find a place in this world for herself and for her baby – the baby that she is desperate to have and watch grow.
