OMG! I found my way back….

Hello blog friends!

I finally found my way back by following the breadcrumbs; or in my case, following my reminder emails to WRITE ON YOUR BLOG YOU LAZY BUM! So yeah, I’m not going to use COVID as an excuse for not writing and doing what I enjoy because that is a topic I refuse to write about.

My goal is to get back on the proverbial saddle and continue to entertain you with, hopefully, fun and witty writing from this crazy Latina who is definitely breaking the rules on this site.

Can you believe how this world has changed in the past few years? Damn, I even got older and I’m still trying to get a date with Henrik Lundquist, even though I broke up with him when he got married and had kids. Mr. Eve still thinks I’m crazy saying I’ll leave him for Henrik….damn yes, I would (Mr. ex-Ranger Goalie….call me! I promise I’m not a stalker) Oh sorry guys! Totally forgot I was writing to inform you my lazy a$$ is back to writing.

Want to reach out and suggests a topic or ask a question? Feel free to sign up for updates from this Coocoo for Cocoa Puffs blog.

Life is good! Again!

Eve

Blog intervention

Wow, this blog is full of cobwebs and dust bunnies I had no idea I abandoned my blog child for so long.

I have no excuses. The fact that I’m still a closet writer and focusing on freelance writing is no excuse for the lack of posting at least a hello to my fellow followers and “likers”.

I’m working on revamping my blog and adding meaningful content. Since it’s still a work in progress, I’ll have to keep you posted.

So much negativity surrounds us that I’ve decided to keep the humor going in hopes to make you smile, laugh or ridicule me……who cares, so long as I don’t add to the craziness of this world.

Stay tuned, I might end up becoming the next Stephen King of the blog world….ok maybe I’m exaggerating but why not dream?

Life is STILL good!

Veteran Appreciation Blog

Many months have gone by since I’ve written on my blog and what better way to dust it off than by thanking the men and women who have served our country….and continue to serve our country.

Thank you ALL military personnel for giving up your time, families, lives and safety so that we may continue to enjoy our freedom. I humble myself to you all and “thank you” for the many hours you risk your lives and are separated from your loved ones for our freedom.

Thank you to all the war Veterans, the wounded warriors, the many heroes and heroines and ALL the MIA personnel for sacrificing so much for our freedom. It’s a huge sacrifice and I’m deeply grateful for all you’ve given us.

To my brother, my nephew, neighbors and strangers…Thank you for protecting us and for loving our country enough to sacrifice all you’ve left behind.

I encourage everyone to make eye contact and ‘thank’ those in uniform because they deserve to be acknowledged every day and not only on Veteran’s Day.

Life is good….thanks to our MILITARY FAMILIES!!!

Memorial Day 2018

This year seems to be passing us by like lightening….quick!

Memorial Day was one of those days were I used to go to New York City with my sister and nephew to go into the Intrepid and spend the day walking around and taking pictures of the fighter planes and watching the rescue demonstrations. Those were the good old days when our boys were young and liked doing things that meant something.

Today, Memorial Day is a day to reflect and be thankful for all our service men and women have done for us. The men and women who have sacrificed life, limb, and family to give us the opportunities to live the kind of life where we can worship anywhere, drive anywhere, and be ourselves. These are the opportunities not many have in their countries and some take for granted.

Memorial Day is a celebration of freedom! It’s for some, a barbecue, a day off, spending time with family or not working….but can WE stop and thank those who made this possible for us? It’s such a small feat compared to what they have sacrificed for us.

Memorial Day is dedicated to all the heroes who have given me my freedom.

Thank you!

Life is good,

Eve

What Easter means to me….

Hello my faithful fellow followers. You may be wondering where has this crazy creative writer been. As usual, I’m either reading (yes I read!) and I prefer ‘real’ books, not those electronic types without the wrinkled pages; writing or doing what grown-ups do…working.

Ahem, I have to remind you again that my mind tends to wonder as I type away. I blame this on the many voices I hear in my head and they’re all trying to get their point across. It gets frustrating at times. Thank God they’re all speaking in English!

Where was I? Oh yeah! What Easter means to me. Sorry to disappoint because it doesn’t mean I’m off in search of Easter eggs because personally, I don’t think eggs have anything to do with Easter. I’m also not buying a pastel colored outfit and shoes and heading off to a place of worship (my mother will so hate this post). Don’t get me wrong, I believe and have faith, I just don’t believe in going to an overcrowded church or place of worship on Easter because there’s a memo going around notifying non-believers that if they to go church on Easter and Christmas, they will be saved. Where are they the rest of the year??

Back to me…..I sound like a kid at elementary school describing what I did over my summer vacation. What Easter means to me is ‘crazy sale on jelly beans’! Yes! I can buy those pastel colored jelly beans at a fraction of a price the day after Easter because Wal-Mart, Shoprite, RiteAid and every retailer with an excess of jelly beans must now get rid of them to make room on their shelves. Yippee! Hooray! Out of my way you blue-haired granny, I have dibs on them bags! I’m not ashamed to admit it, no I’m not. There’s an empty gum ball machine in my Zen Writing Room which needs refilling and boy is it going to overflow.

For those used to my crazy and wacky writing, thanks for continuing to visit my blog. I keep promising to dust off the cobwebs here and post more often. As soon as I catch up on reading and posting reviews on books I’ve read (hey I have to support those authors out there who will return the favor) I will return to keep you entertained.

May everyone have a wonderful Sunday on April 1, 2018 no matter what you believe in or celebrate.

Life is good,

Eve

Christmas Music…Humbug!

Yes, I’m a Scrooge when it comes to Christmas music!

I hate it when it plays ALL day at my job on the satellite radio which is similar to the elevator ‘torture’ music. And who the hell wants to dash through the snow on a one-horse open sleigh when it’s 24 degrees outside! Ah, not this Puerto Rican. Ok so I go through these ranting posts every year about Christmas music and running around spending money on unappreciated presents for our loved ones and/or coworkers. I’m sure someone out there is feeling the same and not voicing it…well tag I’m it.

It’s the commercialized crap I hate about this holiday season. Shoppers pushing and shoving to get to the sales. Store owners pretending they are giving us discounts. Parents over-spending on their kids because they need to over indulge. Bosses demanding and getting every bit of your time before end of year. Family members popping out of the woodwork’s hoping your Christmas card has a check or gift card. Duh! Whatever happened to the REAL meaning of Christmas?

Stop and lend a hand to someone needing help. Give to charities (food banks are great charities to give to) and toy drives. Shovel your neighbor’s driveway and sidewalk. Give a homeless person a pair of gloves or blanket. ‘Tis the season to give and remember why we’re here (for those who believe).

For every blessing we have, we should pay it forward for we will get it back tenfold.

And that my friend was my rant for the week….

Life is good!

Damn you Hallmark Channel ! (reposting)

Who knew I would rediscover the Hallmark Channel and begin watching those sappy movies made for wimps like me.  I was sucked back into the world of fantasy, romance, tears and betrayal and that’s just the commercials!

What was I thinking by watching show after show knowing that in the end the guy gets the girl. To top it off, I began switching from the Hallmark channel to the Lifetime channel!  From ‘Killing Daddy’, ‘Nightmare Nurse’, and ‘His Secret Family’…whew! I had to head back to Hallmark for more tears after I began getting suspicious about Mr. Eve after watching a few twisted Lifetime movies about double lives, cuckoo for cocoa puffs lovers and evil stepchildren!

Should I thank the Hallmark Channel for encouraging me to dust off my old black and white DVD’s? Talk about crying your eyes out. Try watching “The Imitation of Life” with Lana Turner and Juanita Moore. This movie is a ‘cry-your-eyes-out-with-a-big-ass-lump-in-your-throat’ classic. And even though I know how it ends I still cry like a baby and act like it was all real.  I thought I had more balls than that considering I write romance stories and sometimes kill off one of the main characters (yeah I cry while writing that too).

Gotta go now there’s another Hallmark classic, Tulips in Spring, coming on.  I’m such a sappy ass girly girl falling for these damn predictable movies…Damn you Hallmark Channel! Damn you all to hell…!  (Did you guess this was from a Planet of the Apes scene where Taylor speaks for the first time against the gorillas who trapped him in a fish net? LOL, I couldn’t resist.)

Life is good,

Eve

Read. Review. Repeat

To read or not to read. That’s not a question.

I’ve been reading and reviewing books from new and existing authors and I highly recommend anyone considering this to do so. Reviewing books help authors gain more readers and also makes it easier for the ‘would-be’ readers to choose a book with a good and honest review.

I’m considering adding a tab on my blog recommending books I’ve read or maybe I’ll create a new blog for the sole purpose of reviewing and directing traffic to books I find interesting.

If I decide to pursue this it will have to be next year since my project list for the next two months is full.

May everyone have a great Thanksgiving and don’t forget to share with those less fortunate.

Here are two great books I’ve enjoyed reading the past few weeks:

November 11, 2017

We owe it to OUR Veterans!

It’s an honor to return to my blog and post about a topic worthy of my words.  Like I’ve often said to my fellow followers….I won’t write on my blog just to generate traffic or to keep you coming back.  I will write on my blog when I feel the need to share and acknowledge topics worth writing about. I will try to stay on track without standing on my soapbox.

First – Thank you to ALL the Veterans past and present for giving us the freedom of speech, freedom of religion and for all you gave up to allow us many opportunities in this country.

For the many who have lost family, friends and lovers, please accept my thanks and my condolences for allowing your loved one to risk their lives for us. It must have been a long road waiting for their return and I’m sure it was a very long road allowing the pain of your loss to become a permanent part of your lives.  Because of their bravery, we are freely living a life with many choices and opportunities.  Thank you.

For our current Military family, I thank you and keep you in my prayers while you continue to fight our enemies.  Prayers for your safe return and thanking you for your bravery as you go day by day hoping to make it back home safely to your family. Thank you.

For our past Veterans who today will cry for their lost brothers, I appreciate and thank you for your sacrifices.   I can never imagine your pain, fear and desperation for a safe return home while you were fighting for our freedom. You will always be our heroes. Thank you.

For my family members who continue to serve, I’m proud of you and thank you for your contributions to our country! You know who you are (my brother and nephew). Thank you.

For the many who prefer to take a knee (yes I couldn’t help myself and I’m going there): Have you stopped to think of the many wounded soldiers who CAN’T take a knee because they no longer have one? Did you forget the many who lost a limb or their lives to protect our country to give you the freedom to get paid a gazillion dollars to play a sport without bullets flying over your head? If you take a moment and reflect on why you decided to become a professional athlete you might remember a promise you once made that ‘you will do anything’ to become a member of an elite sports team. So now is your chance, to do anything by standing proud and not embarrass us because of what you believe in.

Yes, you can still stand up for what you believe and may I make a suggestion? Why not start a charity? Why not start a college fund? I’m sure there are many ways for us to make a stand, get our point across and show that yes, I love this country for what it has given me. Show our Veterans, ALL our Veterans, that their LIVES MATTER and we appreciate all their sacrifices.

May everyone continue to acknowledge the sacrifices of the many who have served, died and are currently in the battle fields to give us FREEDOM.

Life is good….because of the brave men and women serving our country.

To Tweet or NOT to Tweet

Hello Fellow Followers!

It’s been like an eternity since I took off my ‘writer’s hat’ and spoke from the heart. Ok so I’m speaking through my ASSteroid who cares!

I said it before and I’ll say it again. I don’t like to discuss religion, sex (unless it’s in my romance novels) or politics. I mean, it’s kind of tough NOT to discuss politics when our President is so eager to give EVERYONE writing material. Hmm, do I dare risk being whisked away in a black unmarked car by contributing to today’s ridiculous “War of the Words?”

Riddle me this: Why is our President acting like an ignorant school girl by Tweeting about crap instead of working on healthcare, the homeless situation, global warming (is that still an issue?), finding a cure for cancer, oh wait, why not lower the damn tolls on bridges! Lower the taxes in New Jersey AND maybe we can consider FREE medical assistance AND housing for our service men and women who have returned home missing a leg, arm or mentally incapable of living LIFE without being drug induced?

Can you say, “Thank you for serving our country and risking life and limb so that I can live without fear of being attacked while I sleep and freedom of speech and religion? Can you also say, Thank you military personnel and here’s our HEARTFELT gratitude by giving you FREE rent, medical insurance, etc for SERVING our country? No? Ah, you rather TWEET or TWAT and not acknowledge the ‘real’ issues you should be addressing.

Mr. President! It’s time for you to act like a grown up and shut down the Twitter account because frankly, it’s embarrassing. Can you say ” There’s no ‘I” in team? Can you pretend it’s not about you and look at the big picture and focus on America and not on who’s tweeting about you or who’s bleeding or who has a vajajay you haven’t grabbed? Jeepers, perhaps you need a timeout in a room by yourself to actually SEE and HEAR the news so you can see yourself as others are seeing you. I hate to talk about politics but damn, this year has become the year of the clowns!

Did I remind everyone that at times I go off on a tangent and say it like it is whether you like it or not? No? Well, if you’re a fellow follower you would be familiar with that part of my disclaimer.

Sorry Trump supporters, in the words of Frank Gallagher (from Shameless) I AM what I AM when I have to be!

Life is good when you can say ‘ What the F#@%! (Risky Business)

Eve

PS: I personally THANK every member of our military, police and fire departments for risking your lives to keep us safe and feeling protected from as I’ve heard on the media…’the bad, bad, people.”

Buy a clue…better yet, buy a vowel!!
