"Intensely sexy and packs an emotional punch!" - #1 New York Times bestselling author Lauren Blakely on Make Me BegClaire Collins has always been good—except when it comes to bad boys. Or one bad boy in particular: a tattooed musician as skilled with her body as he is with his guitar. But he wasn’t ready to be a father, so she left him to raise their daughter on her own. Only fate had other plans, and suddenly, Ryan is back in her life, disrupting everything. This time, though, she’s determined not to lose her heart…even if she still craves his touch.Ryan Thomas never expects to see Claire again—especially not in a small mountain town in Washington on the last show of his comeback tour. But when the lights come on, there she is, more beautiful than ever. One incredible night with her won’t be enough… But he’ll have to prove he’s not the man he used to be, if he wants to keep her—and his family—for good.
a Rafflecopter giveaway Claire was grateful when the waitress came over and they had to pull away. They hadn’t even looked at the menu yet. Maybe that would buy her some time, stop her head from spinning. She needed a chance to collect herself before she lost her mind. Ryan wasn’t just a sexy guy who looked at her the way he always had, like she was the only woman in the world and he’d been waiting his whole life to find her. He was the man who’d broken her heart, and she’d better not forget it. But as soon as she opened the dessert menu, it was harder to stay composed. First on the list was The Chocolate Orgasm, a sinful-sounding molten cake topped with homemade whipped cream. Right now, flushed and heated, she didn’t just want the chocolate. She wanted the orgasm, too.  To go, please, since sharing either of those with the man next to her was obviously a very, very bad idea. Ryan must have known exactly what she was thinking, because he leaned even closer than they’d been before the waitress came. “I know what you want,” he said devilishly.
“Cheesecake?” Her voice practically squeaked. “Nope.”
“Tiramisu?”  “I’ve always thought of that as such a tease. Sure, it’s got chocolate. But barely. Why waste time with all that foreplay?”
Oh, please. Claire leveled her head at him. “You don’t believe in foreplay?” He reached over and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. She could guess it was all over the place, no matter how hard Abbi had tried to tame it. She never should have given Ryan a chance to talk to her more. She never should have come. Now here they were, so close to each other as though no time at all had passed.
“On the contrary,” he said, and then his voice dropped. “But that doesn’t mean every taste shouldn’t be the real deal.”   His eyes locked with hers, the gray darkened to the deep blue of a midnight ocean in the corner where they sat. Was he always like this, so impossible to resist? She looked away, scanning the rest of the menu frantically, trying to come up with something other than what she obviously wanted. What he knew she wanted. What under any other circumstances, with any other person, she might even have let herself have.
“I think I’ll get the carrot cake,” she said lamely.
That grin again. His lips moved only a little, but his eyes shifted, the gray lightening. A flicker. A tease.  “Now why are you so hell-bent on denying yourself? The Claire I knew was fed up with being good.” Rebecca Brooks lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books. She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx. Rebecca writes sexy contemporary romance about dirty-talking, rugged outdoorsmen and adventurous women ready to try something new. Find out more at rebeccabrooksromance.com.

I can't rate this book fairly because for me it was really hard and I'm gonna tell you why.
1.  It was a well-written book that I think readers should read only if you know a couple of things going into it and are okay with it. Also, know going into it that it's kind of like a spin-off of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD
2.  There was so much cussing and the use of the Lords name in vain that it overshadowed the book for me and I wanted to put it on my DNF pile, but I read it to the end because I felt I owed it to the readers
3.  It's kind of critical when writing a book with paramedics to get the logistics correct medically.  When you take a blood pressure reading it's imperitive that you get the systolic and diastolic of the blood pressure reading correctly.  If your blood pressure is reading 60/80...you're dead - just saying!  Please flip those numbers because for medical personnel reading your books - we're gonna call you out.  It's just life.
4.  I felt the PTSD component was handled correctly, however, we will not release someone to do their job if we feel it's going to be detrimental to other peoples safety.  We're just not going to do it.

I could keep going, but I won't because it's not in me to be petty and to be honest the core of the book was good.  If you like the shows above, then you'll love this book.  If you love the GD word and Lord's name in vain in every single sentence, then you'll love this book.  I don't. As a matter of fact, I have a rule in the house that if a show says it more than once - it gets turned off.  I think that when you start using curse words so much in your books it's because you can't formulate a proper sentence and come up with others and this might seem harsh and I'm really sorry, but for those that don't want to see 10,325 cuss words (I might be exaggerating) this book isn't gonna be your cup of tea.  If you want a heroine that deals with her PTSD through sex and drinking, then this probably isn't the book for you either.  Is this book well-written other than the extreme language?  Yes, and it would have been really good had it not been for that because the plot had some really good things going for it.  The interactions with the other characters were great, but this was the first book I had read by this author and although I really like the series that I read so far - I can honestly say that I probably can't continue it.  I can't overlook and condone the excessiveness and excuse the language.  I just find it unnecessary and when is it enough?

I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest opinion.  All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.

Excerpt (for those posting Promotional Spotlights):

An excerpt from IN TOO DEEP

Copyright © Kimberly Kincaid 2017

Quinn sat in the passenger seat of Luke’s sleek, dark gray sports car, finally able to breathe for the first time in hours. The unease that had clutched at her chest, tightening like a vise with each faked smile and passing minute she’d sat in the Crooked Angel, was finally loosening, allowing her the luxury of a steady inhale/exhale without having to hide the truth from the people who were closest to her. She was in Luke’s car, sitting right beside him. His body was right there. Warm. Safe. Close enough for her to reach out and run her hand over his bare forearm, his fingers that were callused in some places, soft in others.

There. Easy. Breathe…

Luke pulled into the parking lot beside her apartment building, quieting the engine without pulling the keys from the ignition. His gaze moved covertly over their surroundings, mirroring the one Quinn had just sent over the adjacent parking spaces, the brightly illuminated walkway connecting the parking lot with the apartment building, the potential spots where someone might lurk or hide.

“Looks clear.” It was the first thing he’d said since he’d quietly told Isabella and Hollister he was going to take her home, then paid Kennedy for the beers they didn’t drink.

Quinn nodded in agreement. “Mmm hmm.”

Heeding the detectives’ advice not to dawdle, they both got out of the car, Luke locking the doors with a click-CLICK of a button on his key fob before walking her over the paved path leading to the front door of her building. The tension that had made a playground out of her shoulders faded with each step, and she and Luke made their way over the threshold, into the elevator, and down the tastefully carpeted hallway until finally, they were in her apartment.

“Thank you for bringing me home.” Heat climbed Quinn’s cheeks as she grew aware of how very alone they were, standing there in her dusky foyer with nothing but the soft light filtering in from the one bulb she always left lit over the kitchen sink. But Luke was the only person she didn’t have to hide anything from. The only person who could get her to breathe. The only person she could be truthful with.

And the truth was, she wanted him.

It seemed completely contradictory that her body should respond in such a primal, greedy way when her brain was a jumbled mess. That was just the thing, though. Her thoughts were a mess around her friends. They were a mess when she tried to work, and they were definitely a mess whenever she remembered the kidnapping. The only time her mind wasn’t on overdrive was when she thought of Luke, with his hand on her rib cage and his breath in her ear, as steady as a heartbeat.

God, she wanted his touch so badly, she ached.

“Do you want to talk about what’s going on with you?” he asked, his eyes steady on hers even through the shadows of her foyer.

“Honestly?” She stepped toward him and shook her head. “No.”

“Quinn—”

“Please, just stop. I don’t want to talk about the other day. I don’t even want to think about it.”

Luke opened his mouth, likely to argue, but she cut him off before he could say so much as a syllable. “Look, I’m not stupid, okay? I know I can’t ignore things entirely. I’m not foolish or flighty enough to think I can magically make the truth into something it’s not. But you asked me what I need, and right now I need to not remember what happened, just for a little while.”

A pause opened between them. Quinn’s heart raced so rapidly she was certain he had to be able to register the constant thump-thump-thump from where he stood.

Finally, he said, “What else do you need?”

For a question that had the potential to be so complicated, her answer was shockingly simple, and even though she knew it made her vulnerable, she didn’t hesitate.

“Just for tonight, I need to feel something other than scared. I need to remember what it’s like to feel good.” She moved closer, until she could feel his exhale coast over her cheek. Yes. This. I need this. “So please, can you stay for a while and make me feel right again?”

Stock on Victoria L. James ~ What can I say about Victoria L. James? Loads actually, she’s an amazingly talented author and I had the absolute distinct pleasure of writing with her. I also call her a friend. When we first met, we bonded instantly over our love of music, Victoria tends to be as eclectic as I am with her tastes. She finds stories in lyrics and feels the moods in the melodies. When we first started writing together, I’ll admit I was intimidated. Here is this woman with a huge passion for putting words onto paper and painting pictures so clearly that you are completely immersed in them. How was I going to keep up with that? I’m not sure I ever did, but over time we’ve built up a repertoire. We bounce off one another and bring our characters to the forefront and hope that the interactions are as real as they appear for us. On a more personal note, Victoria is bright, smart, kind, intelligent, funny, caring and witty. She can see so much in the world around her and always has time for anyone. Victoria lives in sunny ole Yorkshire with her family and her cats - had to mention them - and can normally be found in the playground of her imagination, listening to the Foo Fighters.~~~~~~~Victoria L. James on L.J. Stock ~ There aren’t many people you bump into in life that you want to both work and spend your free time with. From meeting L.J. through the wonder that is the internet, we soon came to realise that we had a hell of a lot in common. Music was where our friendship truly began, but our writing partnership flourished not too far behind. I always felt like my writing was missing something, and it was only when I read L.J.’s work that I realised what exactly that was. It was missing her influence! After spending over a year working together, day in, day out, not a moment goes by where I don’t thank the Twitter Gods for bringing this amazingly strong and talented woman into my life. She’s an inspiration, a positive force in every situation and one hell of a talented writer. To say I’m honoured that she wanted to create a new world with me is a gross understatement. I’m blown away. One day, I hope I get lucky enough to visit her in Texas, where she lives with her family and her zoo of animals, so we can write by her pool and take part in our other dream… The great Taylor Kitsch Road (stalking) Trip. If you've read the first book about Evie and Storm then this will be a welcome addition. If you haven't read it, then I suggest that you go ahead and read it because although you won't be entirely lost you won't really know any of the characters and you'll be somewhat confused coming in at the "epilogue" of the first book. Although, it's a Novella and can really stand on its own...I wouldn't recommend it.
It starts off with Evie getting pulled over by the police, but is it really for what you think? At first, it had kind of a sinister feel LOL...because you just didn't know why the cop was pulling her over and then there's a surprise. I love Storm and I love the Author's prose in this book. It's beautiful and she weaves a magical story. The epilogue was fantastic!! I always enjoy visiting this family and really want Asher...right now!❤❤

The second time I saw Evie, I didn’t realize she was the cream-pie-throwing bandit, and she took my breath away in a flowing red gown at a gala.
Of course I couldn’t resist her looks, so I asked her to dance. She called me a schmuck and stalked off.

Once the bar was cleared out and locked up for the night and the rest of the staff sent home, Ryan started in on me. The little shit had been waiting hours to have this discussion.“Can we please have a serious conversation?” He washed a glass as he spoke, but his eyes met mine, and they looked almost sad. When Nick stopped what he was doing and inched closer to where Ryan and I stood, I played dumb. “What are we getting serious about?”“You know what,” Nick said, but Ryan waved him off.“Let me handle this,” he whispered to Nick.“Um, I can hear you, you know?”“Of course I know,” Ryan snapped. “Now, listen. There’s something I can’t figure out, okay? And I don’t want you getting all pissed off and closing up on us when I ask you.”I groaned, wishing that Ryan would cut to the chase already and stop beating around the bush like a fucking girl. “Spit it out. I can handle whatever it is you’re too chickenshit to ask.”He dropped the glass into the soapy water and it splashed all over his shirt. Thank God he’d put it back on after last call. “What’s the deal with you and Shelby?”That was it? That was his big dramatic question?“What kind of question is that? How am I supposed to answer that?”Nick said slowly, “I think what Ryan’s trying to say is, we can see that you’re not happy. We don’t understand why you stay.”I wasn’t sure how to answer that question, or if I wanted to. I’d kept everything to myself for so long, not wanting to burden anyone with my mess, but maybe it was time to unload. I wasn’t good at asking for help, but maybe that’s what these two were here for. God knew I’d do anything for either of them, and I knew they’d do the same for me. I just hated the very idea of needing anyone.

This was a tough book for me. I think I took the title to heart and really hated the guy!! Like to the depths of my SOUL!!! I liked the supporting characters, I loved the other Fisher brothers, I liked the writing in general and I even liked Claudia and Shelby. However, what I didn't care for was the hero, Frank being a total douche canoe. Yep, you read me correctly - douche canoe. At no time in this book did I find his self-deprecating, woe is me, I can't help but be a cheater self - a redeemable character. The excuses and storyline that were used to totally sweep away the girlfriend, Shelby, of nine years felt unresolved. We're supposed to believe that because Frank saw Claudia in his bar and had this "immediate intense feeling" we're all supposed to jump on the Frank train? Eww. At no time did I want to jump on anything of his and so I skimmed through to read about the brothers. I possibly missed some good parts, but I went back and read about how while Shelby was sleeping in their bed, Frank decided to take a shower and "think" about Claudia while in there so that he could then climb in bed with his longtime girlfriend after doing that and thinking of another. I've been brought up that cheating begins in the mind and once you go there...well, it's only a step away until you do it. This wasn't a celebrity he was fantasizing about or someone unattainable, but someone who repeatedly came in his bar and he flirted with. At first, Claudia's reaction was spot on - she got angry and didn't want anything to do with him. However, after having him relentlessly call her and then he kisses her, she lets it all go after finding out he cut his girlfriend loose. How nice of him! Claudia will be the girlfriend in nine years who gets left when he can't find a reason to marry her unless in the third book they're sooo happy. Call me jaded or whatever, call me having a bad book weekend, but this storyline didn't give me warm fuzzies or heartwarming feelings. It just didn't and that's okay because someone will love this book. Overall, it just wasn't my cup of tea, but that doesn't mean it won't be someone else's or that they won't love the hero because that's what's so great about books! They bring everyone together because we're so different. This one just wasn't for me.
I was given an ARC copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.  All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.

I got fired from my last job.  It's true.  I know you're sitting there thinking, "Jenn, how could anyone in their right mind fire someone like you?" And I'd love to give you a good reason, but the truth is that sometimes being all sorts of awesome isn't fun for other people. They don't always tend to like it. lol  So I picked my pride off the floor, bought a laptop and started writing my first book. And you know what I realized? Writing stories that meant something to me was a million times better than working my ass off for someone who didn't really care about anything other than the bottom line.  My soul has never felt more satisfied.  My heart has never been more full. I've never worked so hard in my life, but I love every second of it. I truly do. It is SO worth it.  All of it.  Every moment. The journey it took to get to this point- I wouldn't change a thing.

And this is one game she is determined to make him lose. There's no love at first sight between the pitcher and the spitfire mechanic—in fact, she hates him. Cydney thinks she has Maverick all figured out: sexy, rich, full of himself, and he gets whatever he wants. But…maybe there's more to him that she realizes. No feelings were supposed to get involved. It was supposed to be all fun and games, but how long can they play before hearts are on the line?

Title: The LongingSeries: Dogs of Wolfpack #2Author: Pipe...

Title: The LongingSeries: Dogs of Wolfpack #2Author: Piper DavenportGenre: MC RomanceRelease Date: October 10, 2017

She wants only him…For as long as she can remember, Poppy has loved only one man. Devon Wallace has been her knight in shining leather ever since he rescued her from a date gone wrong. She can’t envision a future without him, but she’s convinced he still thinks of her as the pesky twelve-year-old who used to follow him around. He can have anyone but her…Devon "Sparky" Wallace has spent the better part of a decade trying to keep his hands off his uncle’s step-daughter, Poppy, and living by the code of the brotherhood. He’s not about to break the rules, no matter how much he fantasizes about the sexiest woman on the planet. But when her connection to him puts her life in jeopardy, he must figure out a way to save her without breaking the club’s code, even if that means losing her forever.18+ for language and sexual situations…

I always love a revisit of other characters we've seen in other books. Poppy, the heroine is a bit of a different character than I'm used to reading - she grew up in the club, but some of the things she says and does don't exactly fit that. Of course, her age might have something to do with it. She gives Devon back exactly what he puts forth. He pushes her away and she pushes back. We've been watching this couple for a while and it was good to FINALLY see some fruition to their relationship.  Overall, I thought this was a good addition to the series and can't wait for the third book.
